lengthenorshortentherodsincetherodendsarerighthandthreadedononesideandlefthandthreadedon
theother.TightentheRodEndJamNutsandrecheckthewheeltoe-in.Readjustifnecessary.

1. Applygreasetothethreadsofthe#27Pedals.Thiswillprotectboththethreadsofthepedalandthe
crankarmovertime.Usepedalwasherswhererequired.
2. Usingyourhands,threadthe#27Pedals(markedforLorR)intotherespectiveleftorrightcrankarms
byturningthemtowardthefrontofthebike.

andbeaninformedriderawareofthebenetsaswellasthewarningsandsafetyissues
inridingthisrecumbent.
Arecumbenttrikeisnotabicycleandthismanualcontainsspecicinformationand
warningsthatwillletyouenjoyyourSunSeekerRecumbentTrikeincomfortandsafety.
Tricyclingisasport,andamodeoftransportation.Withit,comestheriskofanaccident
thatcouldresultininjuryandevendeath.Byridingthisrecumbent,youassumethatrisk.
Wewanttogiveyouasmuchinformationaspossibletomakeyouasaferrider.We
cannotcoverallcontingencies,butwecanmakeyoumoreawareandinformed.Be
awarethat:
•Municipalbicycleregulationsalsoapplytorecumbents.Moststatesand
municipalitieshavebikeregulations.It’suptoyoutoresearchthoseregulations
andbecomeinformed.Yourlocaldealerwillbeabletohelpyouwiththis
information.Sinceyouwillbesharingtheroadattimeswithothervehicles,
agoodruletofollowis“Ifyoucan’tdoitwithabicycle,don’tdoitwitha
recumbent”.
•Arecumbenttrike’swidestpointcouldbebehindyouattherearwheels.Ifthe
frontgoesbyanobstaclethereisnoguaranteethattherearwheelswillalso
clear.Whenriding,youmustgiveclearancetotheedgeoftheroadorsidewalk.
Giveextraroomwhenpassingnearpedestriansandobstacles.Stayclearof
potholesandbeawarethatyoucanlosecontrolifanywheelsshoulddropintoa
holeorcatchanimmobileobject.
Alwaysridedefensivelyandwatchoutfortheunexpected.Thismeanseverything
fromcarstokids,pets,androughorhazardousroadsurfaces.Bepreparedtoavoid
dangerandALWAYSWEARABICYCLEHELMET.Werecommendbuyingyourhelmet
fromalocaldealerthatcantandinstructyouonthecorrectwaytowearthishelmet.
Protectingyourheadisyourprimarysafetyresponsibility.
AlwayswearaCPSC,ANZI,ASTMS,orSNELLapprovedbicyclehelmet.CPSC
approvalistheU.S.FederalStandardtowhichallhelmetsmustcomply.

PRE-RIDE CHECKLIST
1.Checkyourtiresforproperairpressure.Keeptirepressurebetweentheminimum
andmaximumairpressureratingprintedonthetiresidewall.Donotinateoverthe
maximumairpressureratingonthetiresidewall.
2.Testyourbrakesandmakesuretheystoptherecumbent.Ifyouhaveanydoubts,do
notride,andseeyourdealerforservice.
3.Checkthatthehandlebaristightandthattheendsareplugged.Checkthesaddlefor
tightness.
4.
Movetherecumbentforwardandback.Ifyouhearorfeelanyresistance,donotride.
Ifyoufeelthatsomethingisnotrightafterperformingyourcheck,DONOTRIDE.
Takeyourrecumbenttoyourlocaldealerforinspection.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Arecumbenttrikedoesnothandlelikeabicycle.Youcannotleanintoaturn.Turns
mustbemademorecarefullyandataslowerspeedthanabicycle.
Allwheelsmustbeonthegroundatalltimes.Donotmakesuddenchangesindirection
thatcouldunbalancetherecumbentandcauseanaccident.
Whenbeginningtoride,stayataslowspeed.Youmustacclimateyourselftohandling
andturningthisrecumbent.Ifyoufeelinsecure,slowdownandproceedataslower
pace.Withpractice,youwillbecomecomfortableridingandstopping.
Theabilitytoclimbhillsonthiselectricrecumbentwilldependonthegrade,rider
weight,pedalinput,andmomentum.Itisnotadvisedtorelysolelyonthemotorassist.
Bestresultswillcomefromacombinationofmotorandpedalassist.
Tipping hazard.Turningsharplyorturningatspeedsabove5mphcancausethe
recumbenttobecomeunbalancedandtipoverresultinginpossibleinjuryordeath.
Foryoursafety,themaximumpower-assistedspeedofthisrecumbentislimited
to 15 MPH.
Keepbothhandsonthehandlebaratalltimes.Ridingwithnohandscancausethe
recumbenttobecomeunstableandtipover,resultinginpossibleinjuryordeath.
Werecommendthatyounotrideatnightorattimesofreducedvisibility.
Ifyoumustrideatnightorduringreducedvisibility,youmustouttyourrecumbentwith
awhitefrontlightandredrearlight.Relyingonreectorsisnotadequateprotection.
Mostmunicipalitiesrequirelightsfornightriding.Yourlocalbicycledealercanhelpyou
inselectingtherightlightingsystemforyourneeds.
