Pedal Installation
1.Applygreasetothethreadsofthepedalspindle.Thiswillprotectboththethreadsofthepedalandcrank
armovertime.
2.Usepedalwasherswhererequired.Usingyourhands,threadthepedalspindleintothecrankarmby
turningittowardthefrontofthebike.Oncethethreadscatchuseyourpedalwrenchtonishtightening
downthepedals.SeeFigureL.
Torquedownthepedalstoaminimumof290in-lbsoftorque.

Handlebarstemheightcanbeadjustedtoprovidedesiredtoeclearanceduringpedalstroke.SeeFigureQ.
NOTE: DO NOT extend handlebar stem past its marked safety line.

Thismanualisintendedtobereadcarefullysothatyoumayenjoyyournew
recumbentandbeaninformedriderawareofthebenetsaswellasthewarnings
andsafetyissuesinridingthisrecumbent.
Arecumbenttrikeisnotabicycleandthismanualcontainsspecicinformationand
warningsthatwillletyouenjoyyourSunSeekerRecumbentTrikeincomfortand
safety.
Tricyclingisasport,andamodeoftransportation.Withitcomestheriskofan
accidentthatcouldresultininjuryandevendeath.Byridingthisrecumbent,you
assumethatrisk.
Wewanttogiveyouasmuchinformationaspossibletomakeyouasaferrider.We
cannotcoverallcontingencies,butwecanmakeyoumoreawareandinformed.Be
awarethat:
•Municipalbicycleregulationsalsoapplytorecumbents.Moststatesand
municipalitieshavebikeregulations.It’suptoyoutoresearchthose
regulationsandbecomeinformed.Yourlocaldealerwillbeabletohelpyouwith
thisinformation.Sinceyouwillbesharingtheroadattimeswithothervehicles,
agoodruletofollowis“Ifyoucan’tdoitwithabicycle,don’tdoit
witharecumbent”.
•Arecumbenttrike’swidestpointcouldbebehindyouattherearwheels.Ifthe
frontgoesbyanobstaclethereisnoguaranteethattherearwheelswillalso
clear.Whenriding,youmustgiveclearancetotheedgeoftheroadorsidewalk.
Giveextraroomwhenpassingnearpedestriansandobstacles.
Stayclearofpotholesandbeawarethatyoucanlosecontrolifanywheels
shoulddropintoaholeorcatchanimmobileobject.
Alwaysridedefensivelyandwatchoutfortheunexpected.Thismeanseverything
fromcarstokids,pets,androughorhazardousroadsurfaces.Bepreparedtoavoid
dangerandALWAYSWEARABICYCLEHELMET.Werecommendbuyingyour
helmetfromalocaldealerthatcantandinstructyouonthecorrectwaytowear
thishelmet.Protectingyourheadisyourprimarysafetyresponsibility.
AlwayswearaCPSC,ANZI,ASTMS,orSNELLapprovedbicyclehelmet.CPSC
approvalistheU.S.FederalStandardtowhichallhelmetsmustcomply.

PRE-RIDE CHECKLIST
1.Checkyourtiresforproperairpressure.Keeptirepressurebetweenthe
minimumandmaximumairpressureratingprintedonthetiresidewall.Donot
inateoverthemaximumairpressureratingonthetiresidewall.
2.Testyourbrakesandmakesuretheystoptherecumbent.Ifyouhaveany
doubts,donotride,andseeyourdealerforservice.
3.Checkthatthehandlebaristightandthattheendsareplugged.Checkthe
saddlefortightness.
4. Movetherecumbentforwardandback.Ifyouhearorfeelanyresistance,do
not ride.
Ifyoufeelthatsomethingisnotrightafterperformingyourcheck,DONOTRIDE.
Takeyourrecumbenttoyourlocaldealerforinspection.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Arecumbenttrikedoesnothandlelikeabicycle.Youcannotleanintoaturn.Turns
mustbemademorecarefullyandataslowerspeedthanabicycle.
Allwheelsmustbeonthegroundatalltimes.Donotmakesuddenchangesin
directionthatcouldunbalancetherecumbentandcauseanaccident.
Whenbeginningtoride,stayataslowspeed.Youmustacclimateyourselfto
handlingandturningthisrecumbent.Ifyoufeelinsecure,slowdownandproceed
ataslowerpace.Withpractice,youwillbecomecomfortableridingandstopping.
Theabilitytoclimbhillsonthiselectricrecumbentwilldependonthegrade,rider
weight,pedalinput,andmomentum.Itisnotadvisedtorelysolelyonthemotor
assist.Bestresultswillcomefromacombinationofmotorandpedalassist.
Tippinghazard.Turningsharplyorturningatspeedsabove5mphcancausethe
recumbenttobecomeunbalancedandtipoverresultinginpossibleinjuryordeath.
Foryoursafety,themaximumpower-assistedspeedofthisrecumbentislimitedto
15 MPH.
Keepbothhandsonthehandlebaratalltimes.Ridingwithnohandscancause
therecumbenttobecomeunstableandtipover,resultinginpossibleinjuryor
death.
Werecommendthatyounotrideatnightorattimesofreducedvisibility.
Ifyoumustrideatnightorduringreducedvisibility,youmustouttyourrecumbent
withawhitefrontlightandredrearlight.Relyingonreectorsisnotadequate
protection.Mostmunicipalitiesrequirelightsfornightriding.Yourlocalbicycle
dealercanhelpyouinselectingtherightlightingsystemforyourneeds.
