Sunbeam’s Safety Precautions
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR
SUNBEAM FOOD SCALES.
• Always lift your kitchen scales from the base.
• Always operate on a flat level surface.
• Do not place objects on top of the scales when
not in use or in storage.
• Remove the battery if the scales are not being
used for a prolonged period.
• Do not immerse in water to wash the food
scales.
Sunbeam is very safety conscious when designing
and manufacturing consumer products, but it is
essential that the product user also exercise care
when using an electrical appliance. Listed below are
precautions which are essential for the safe use of
an electrical appliance:
• Read carefully and save all the instructions
provided with an appliance.
• Always turn the power off at the power outlet
before you insert or remove a plug. Remove
by grasping the plug - do not pull on the cord.
• Turn the power off and remove the plug when the
appliance is not in use and before cleaning.
• Do not use your appliance with an extension cord
unless this cord has been checked and tested by
a qualified technician or service person.
• Always use your appliance from a power outlet of
the voltage (A.C. only) marked on the appliance.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
• The temperature of accessible surfaces may be
high when the appliance is operating.
• Never leave an appliance unattended while
in use.
• Do not use an appliance for any purpose other
than its intended use.
• Do not place an appliance on or near a hot gas
flame, electric element or on a heated oven.
• Do not place on top of any other appliance.
• Do not let the power cord of an appliance hang
over the edge of a table or bench top or touch any
hot surface.
• Do not operate any electrical appliance with a
damaged cord or after the appliance has been
damaged in any manner. If damage is suspected,
return the appliance to the nearest Sunbeam
Appointed Service Centre for examination, repair
or adjustment.
• For additional protection, Sunbeam recommend
the use of a residual current device (RCD)
with a tripping current not exceeding 30mA in
the electrical circuit supplying power to your
appliances.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any
other liquid unless recommended.
• Appliances are not intended to be operated by
means of an external timer or separate remote
control system.
• This appliance is intended to be used in
household and similar applications such as: staff
kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working
environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels,
motels and other residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environments.

Features of your Stainless
Food Scales
High Precision Sensors
The food scales are equipped with four high
precision sensors to ensure ingredients are
weighed accurately regardless of where its
positioned on the platform.
Unit measurements
The large LCD display will display
either gram or ounce measurements
for use with metric or imperial recipes.
Fluid ounces and millilitres can also be used
when measuring liquid quantities, ie water.

it easy to see weights and
warnings.

Tare / Add & weigh function.
‘Tare’ function allows you to zero the weight
of any type of container to which consecutive
ingredients can be added, yet weighed
individually.
Automatic power on/off function
Press to turn scales on/off. The food scales
will automatically switch off after 3 minutes.
Low Battery Indicator
When the life of the battery is low
the LCD display will show ‘Lo’.

1. Turn food scales over and remove plastic
battery tab.
Place scales upright on a flat, level and
dry surface.
2. If using the bowl or any other container,
place container on platform before
turning on the scale.
3. Turn on the Food Scales by pressing the
‘POWER’ button. The LCD will display.
4. The Food scales weighs in grams or
ounces.
To select your preference, simply press
'unit' until the desired weight is selected.
5. Place ingredients either in a container
or directly onto the weighing platform.
The weight will be displayed on the LCD
display. As more ingredients are added
the weight displayed on the LCD will
automatically increase.
Note: It is recommended that only water can
be weighed when using the millilitres/fluid
ounces function. Water is the only liquid that
is equal in grams and millilitres and ounces/
fluid ounces.
Add & Weigh / Zero function
Your Food Scales allow you to add
consecutive items to the container, whilst
weighing each item individually.
1. Follow steps 1 - 5 in using your
electronic Food Scales.
2. Press the ‘Tare’ button and add your
next ingredient to the bowl. The LCD will
display the weight only of the last item
added.
3. Repeat step 2 for weighing any additional
ingredients.
Overloading function - Max Capacity 5kg
When the electronic Food Scale is
overloaded, the LCD will display: EEEE
Remove the weight immediately, as the
excess weight may damage the scales.
Low battery indicator
When the battery is running low, the LCD will
display: ‘Lo’.
Replace with 1 x CR2032 Lithium battery.
Note: The food scales will automatically
switch off after 3 minutes of non-use.
Replacing your battery
1. To replace your battery, remove the
battery cover on the underside of the
scales.
2. Place the new Lithium battery on to the
battery plug and press firmly into place.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Note: Remove the battery whenever the
scales will be stored for a prolonged period
of time.

Turn the Food Scales off when not in use and
remove the battery if storing for prolonged
periods.
Note: Never store with anything on top of
your food scales, as the excess weight may
damage them.
Wipe the weighing platform with a soft,
slightly damp cloth and wipe dry.
For stubborn dirt, wipe with a damp cloth
and mild detergent and wipe dry.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the food
scales surface. This may cause corosion.
Do not place the food scales in the dishwasher.
Note: Never immerse the food scales in water.

remedies under any laws which relate to the
appliance.

be excluded under the Australian Consumer
Law and under the New Zealand Consumer
Guarantees Act.
In Australia you are entitled to a
replacement or refund for a major failure and
for compensation for any other reasonably
foreseeable loss or damage. You are also
entitled to have the goods repaired or
replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable
quality and the failure does not amount to
a major failure.

service after the guarantee period, contact
