flammableliquids,gases,ordust.Generatorscreatesparks,whichmayignitethe
dustorfumes
3. Keepbystanders,children,andvisitorsawaywhileoperatingagenerator.Provide
barriersorshieldsasneeded.
4. Dressproperly.Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelry.Containlonghair.Keep
yourhair,clothing,andglovesawayfrommovingparts.Looseclothes,jewelry,
andlonghaircanbecaughtinmovingparts.
5. Generatingsetsareprohibitedtojoinpowersystemnetwork.
6. Generatingsetsshallnotbeusedinthesurroundingswithinflammableand
explosivearticles.
7. Standardandoperationstatusforgasolinegeneratorsets:Atmospherepressure:
1013mbar;Intaketemperature:20℃;Generatingsetsinstallationheightis
increasedbyevery1000ft,theoutputwillbedecreasedby3.5%;Theambient
temperatureisexceededbyeveryabovestandardtemperature,theoutputwill
bedecreasedby1%around.
IMPORTANTSAFETYINFORMATION
GENERATORSAFETY
1.Donotoverloadthegenerator.Usethecorrectgeneratorforyourapplication.
Thecorrectgeneratorwilldothejobbetterandsaferattherateforwhichitis
designed.
2.Donotexposetorainorwetconditions.Waterenteringageneratorwillincrease
theriskofelectricshock.
3.Stayalert.Watchwhatyouaredoing,andusecommonsensewhenoperatinga
generator.Donotuseageneratorwhiletiredorundertheinfluenceofdrugs,alcohol,
ormedication.Amomentofinattentionwhileoperatingthegeneratormayresultin

4.Whenoperatingapowertooloutside,useanoutdoorextensioncordmarked
"W‐A"or"W".Theseextensioncordsareratedforoutdooruse,andreducetherisk
ofelectricshock.
5.CAUTION!Neverrunthegeneratorinanenclosedgarageoranyothertypeof
enclosedstructurewithoutaproper,leak‐freeventilationshaft.CarbonMonoxide,
anodorless,colorlessdeadlygasmayaccumulateandcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
6.DonotusethegeneratorifthePowerSwitchdoesnotturnitonoroff.Any
generatorthatcannotbecontrolledwiththePowerSwitchisdangerousandmustbe
repaired.
7.MakesurethePowerSwitchisinits"OFF"positionanddisconnectthespark
plugwirebeforemakinganyadjustments,changingaccessories,orstoringthe
generator.Suchpreventivesafetymeasuresreducetheriskofstartingthegenerator
accidentally.
8.Maintaingeneratorswithcare.Donotuseadamagedgenerator.Tagdamaged
generators"Donotuse"untilrepaired.
9.Onlyqualifiedrepairpersonnelshouldperformgeneratorservice.Serviceor
maintenanceperformedbyunqualifiedpersonnelcouldresultininjury.
10.Usetherightgeneratorforthejob.Donotattempttoforceasmallgeneratorto
dotheworkofalargerindustrialgenerator.Therearecertainapplicationsforwhich
thisgeneratorwasdesigned.Itwilldothejobbetterandmoresafelyattheratefor
whichitwasintended.Donotmodifythisgenerator,anddonotusethisgenerator
forapurposeforwhichitwasnotintended.
INSTALLATIONPROCEDURES
1.WARNING!BeforeusingtheGenerator,readandunderstandtheEngine
manufacturer'sOperation,Maintenance,andPartsmanual.Also,readthesafety
precautionsinthismanual.Theseshouldalwaysbefollowedtoreducetheriskof
personalinjuryanddamagetoequipment.
2.Ensureinstallationmeetsallapplicablesafety,andlocalandnationalelectrical
codes.Haveinstallationperformedbyaqualified,licensedelectricianandbuilding
contractor.
3.Ifthegeneratorisinstalledindoors,exhaustfumesmustbepipedoutofthe
buildingusingleak‐free,heat‐resistantpiping.Pipesandsilencershouldnotbemade
ofanyflammablematerials,norshouldtheybeinstallednearanyflammable
materials.Generatorexhaustfumesmustbewithinlegallimits,includingalllocal
codesandordinances.
4.Ifthegeneratorisinstalledoutdoors,itmustbeweatherproofedandshouldbe
soundproofed.ItshouldnotberunoutdoorswithoutprotectiontotheGenerator
andwiringconduit.
5.NeverlifttheGeneratorusingtheengineoralternatorliftinglugs.Connectlifting
equipmenttotheFrameoftheGenerator.BeforeliftingtheGenerator,ensurethelift
riggingandsupportingstructureareingoodcondition,andareratedtoliftsucha
load.
6.Thesupportingfloor/groundsurfaceshouldbelevel,andstrongenoughtosafely

holdtheweightoftheGenerator.Ifthefloor/groundsurfaceisnotlevel,strongcross
membersshouldbeplacedunderthefulllengthoftheGeneratorFrameatitslow
side.
7.Fortrailerinstallation,theGeneratorshouldbemountedonthecenterpointof
thetrailer,overthewheels.
OPERATION
STARTINGTHEENGINE
1. Startingwithhand
TurntheEngineSwitchtotheONposition.
Theengineswitchenablesanddisablesthe
ignitionsystem.
OFF:Tostoptheengine.
ON:Toruntheengine.
Electricstart
Keyposition:
OFF:ToStoptheengine.Keycanbe
removed/inserted.
ON:Toruntheengineafterstarting.
START:Tostarttheenginebyturningthestarter
motor.
2. Thefuelvalveislocatedbetweenthefuel
tankandcarburetor.Whenthevalveleverto
theONposition,fuelisallowedtoflowfrom
thefueltanktothecarburetor.Besureto
returnthefuelvalvelevertotheOFFafter
stoppingtheengine.
3. Tostartacoldengine,movethechokeleverto
theCLOSEDposition.Torestartawarm
engine,leavethechokeleverintheOPEN
position.
Thechokeleveropensandclosethechoke
valveinthecarburetor.
TheCLOSEDpositionenrichesthefuel
mixtureforstartingacoldengine.
TheOPENpositionprovidesthecorrectfuel
mixtureforoperationafterstarting,andfor

restartingawarmengine.
4. OperatetheRECOILSTARTER:
Pullthestartergriplightlyuntilyoufeel
resistance,thenpullbriskly.Returnthe
startergripgently.
Pullingthestartergripoperatestherecoil
startertocranktheengine.
Electricstart
Keyposition:Keycanberemoved/inserted.
START:Tostarttheenginebyturningthestarter
motor.
ReturnthekeytotheONpositiononcetheenginehasstarted.Donotusethe
starterformorethan5secondsatatime.Iftheenginefailstostart,releasethe
switchandwait10secondsbeforeoperatingthestarteragain.
5. Ifthechokeleverhasbeenmovedtothe
CLOSEDpositiontostarttheengines,
graduallymoveittotheOPENpositionas
theenginewarmsup.
Carbonmonoxidegasistoxic.
Breathingitcancause
unconsciousnessandevenkill
you.Avoidanyareasor
actionsthatexposeyouto
carbonmonoxide.

STOPPINGTHEENGINE
1. Removeanyloadfromcircuitoutand
closecircuitbreaker.
2. TurntheengineswitchtoOFFposition.
3. TurnthefuelvalvelevertotheOFF
position.
Whentheengineisnotinuse,leavethe
fuelvalveleverintheOFFpositionto
preventcarburetorfloodingandtoreduce
thepossibilityoffuelleakage.

USAGEOFGENERATOR
1. GroundTerminal
Thegeneratorgroundterminalisconnectedtotheframeofthegenerator,the
metalnon‐currentcarryingpartsofthegenerator,andthegroundterminalsof
eachreceptacle.
Beforeusingthegroundterminal,consultaqualifiedelectrician,electrical
inspectororlocalagencyhavingjurisdictionforlocalcodesorordinancesthat
applytotheintendeduseofthegenerator.
2. CircuitBreaker
ThecircuitbreakerwillautomaticallyswitchOFFifthereisashortcircuitora
significantoverloadofthegeneratoratthereceptacle.Ifthecircuitbreakeris
switchedOFFautomatically,checkthattheapplianceisworkingproperlyand
doesnotexceedtheratedloadcapacityofthecircuitbeforeswitchingthecircuit
breakerONagain.
ThecircuitbreakermaybeusedtoswitchthegeneratorpowerONorOFF.

3. VoltMeter
Thevoltmaterdisplaysthevoltagethegeneratorisproducing.
4. ACOperation
1. Starttheengine.
2. SwitchONtheACcircuitbreaker.
3. Plugintheappliance.Mostmotorizedrequiremorethantheirratedwattage
forstartup.
4. Makesurethatthevoltmeterindicatesthespecifiedvoltage.
Donotexceedthecurrentlimitspecifiedforanyonereceptacle.Ifanoverloaded
circuitcausestheACcircuitbreakertoswitchOFF,reducetheelectricalloadon
thecircuit,waitafewminutesandthenresetcircuitbreaker.
5. Electricequipment,especiallyengineproducesstrongcurrentwhenbeing
started.Thetablebelowoffersreferencewhenyouconnectthose
installationtogenerator.

refueling,makesurethetankcapisclosedproperlyandsecurely.Becarefulnot

BatteryConnectionsforElectricStarter(applicabletypes)
Usea12‐voltbatterywithanampere‐hourratingofatleast18Ah.
Becarefulnottoconnectthebatteryinreversepolarity,asthiswillshortcircuitthe
batterychargingsystem.Alwaysconnectthepositive(+)batterycabletothebattery
terminalbeforeconnectingthenegative(‐)batterycable,soyourtoolscannot
causeashortcircuitiftheytouchagroundedpartwhiletighteningthepositive(+)
batterycableend.
Abatterycanexplodeifyoudonotfollowthecorrectprocedure,seriouslyinjuring
anyonenearby.
Keepallsparks,openflames,andsmokingmaterialsawayfromthebattery.
1) Connectthebatterypositive(+)cabletothestartersolenoidterminalasshown.
2) Connectthebatterynegative(‐)cabletoanenginemountingbolt,framebolt,or
othergoodenginegroundconnection.

Powering12VoltDCtoolsandEquipment:
1. Priortopoweringtoolsandequipment,makesurethegenerator’sratedvoltage,
andamperagecapacity(12VDC)isadequatetosupplyallelectricalloadsthatthe
unitwillpower.Ifpoweringexceedsthegenerator’scapacity,itmaybe
necessarytogrouponeormoreofthetoolsand/orequipmentforconnectionto
aseparategenerator.

2. Connectthepowercordofa12VDCpoweredtoolorequipmenttotheDC
Terminals.
Makesuretoconnectthepositive(+)leadofthepowercordto
thepositive(+)terminalonthegenerator,andconnectthe
negative(‐)leadofthepowercordtothenegative(‐)terminal
onthegenerator.
3. Startandruntheengineasdescribedabove.
4. Whenfinishedusingthegenerator,turntheenginepowerswitchtoits“OFF”
position.Turnthefuelvalvetoits“OFF”position.
5. Disconnecttheelectricalpoweredtools’powercordfromthegenerator’sDC
terminals.
6. Aftertheengineandgeneratorhavecompletelycooled,storethegeneratorina
safe,clean,drylocation(ifnotalreadyinstalledinone).

MAINTENANCE
Periodicmaintenanceandadjustmentisnecessarytokeepthegeneratoringood
operatingcondition.Performtheserviceandinspectionattheintervalsshowninthe
maintenanceschedulebelow.
Exhaustgascontainspoisonouscarbonmonoxide.Shutofftheenginebefore
performinganymaintenance.Iftheenginemustberun,makesuretheareaiswell
ventilated.

explosion.Useonlysoapywaterornonflammablesolvent.

thecarburetor.Iftheenginehasnotbeenrunforalongtime,thesedimentcup
shouldbecleaned.
1. TurnthefuelvalvelevertotheOFFposition.Removethesedimentcup,O‐ring,
andfilter.
2. Cleanthesedimentcup,O‐ring,andfilterinnonflammableorhighflashpoint
solvent.
3. Reinstallthefilter,O‐ring,andsedimentcup.
4. TurnthefuelvalveleverONandcheckforleaks.

Sparkplugservice
Recommendedsparkplugs: BPR6ES(NGK)

Toensureproperengineoperation,thesparkplugmustbeproperlygappedandfree
ofdeposits.
Iftheenginehasbeenrunning,themufflerwillbeveryhot.Becarefulnottotouch
themuffler.
1. Removethesparkplugcap.
2. Cleananydirtfromaroundthesparkplugbase.
3. Useasparkplugwrenchtoremovethesparkplug.

4. Visuallyinspectthesparkplug.Discarditifthe
insulatoriscracked,chippedorfouled.
5. Measurethepluggapwithafeelergauge.
Correctasnecessarybycarefullybendingthe
sideelectrode.
Thegapshouldbe:0.70‐0.80mm(0.028‐0.031in)
6. Check that the spark plug washer is in good condition, and thread the spark plug
in by hand to prevent cross-threading.

8. After the spark plug is seated, tighten with a spark plug wrench to compress the
washer.
If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats to compress

Thesparkplugmustbesecurelytightened.Animproperlytightenedsparkplugcan
becomeveryhotandcoulddamagetheengine.

recommendedsparkplugsorequivalent.
TRANSPORTING/STORAGE
When transporting the generator, turn the engine switch and the fuel valve OFF. Keep
the generator level to prevent fuel spillage. Fuel vapor or spilled fuel may ignite.
Contactwithahotengineorexhaustsystemcancauseseriousburnsorfires.Letthe
enginecoolbeforetransportingorstoringthegenerator.
Takecarenottodroporstrikethegeneratorwhentransporting.Donotplaceheavy
objectsonthegenerator.

thesparkplug.
4. Slowlypullthestartergripuntilresistanceisfelt.Atthispoint,thepistonis
cominguponitscompressionstrokeandboththeintakeandexhaustvalvesare
closed.Storingtheengineinthispositionwillhelptoprotectitfrominternal
corrosion.
