CONNECTING/DISCONNECTING LANYARD
CLEANING, STORAGE & PRODUCT LIFE
EP7 Sonic Defenders
Ultra
typically last up to 6+ months, depending on usage
and care. Clean earpieces with mild soap and water and allow to air dry. Clean
foam tips by wiping with a clean cloth and rinsing with water, then air dry.
Replace earplugs when they become stiff and hardened. Store in a cool, dry
place in the included container. Do not leave in direct sunlight. In extreme
storage temperatures, filters may separate from stems. If this occurs, filters
must be reinserted into stems before using.
NOTE: EP7s provide a reduced level of hearing protection with their noise-reducing filters removed.
RADIO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM USE
An EP7 earplug can also serve as an earpiece for compatible radio
communication systems by simply removing its noise-reducing filter (store in a
safe place for future use) and inserting the system’s elbow connector into the
hole previously occupied by the filter until snug.

1. Roll Comply™Canal Tip of color-coded (red filter for right) EP7 into a thin,
round cylinder, being careful not to unscrew tip from stem.
2. Starting with the EarLock®retention ring of the right earplug oriented
slightly backward, rotate the earplug forward while inserting the foam
tip deep into the right ear canal. Fit the retention ring to the natural
contour of concha bowl surrounding the ear canal to lock the earplug in
place. Hold in place 15 - 30 seconds while foam tip fully expands in ear canal.
3. Check earplug’s seal by placing your fingertip over the outer hole of filter and
removing. Detection of a slight suction indicates a proper seal.
4. Repeat process with white-filtered earpiece for left ear.
5. Test by clapping, with filter caps out. If no noticeable decrease in volume,
reinsert and retest.
6. To block lower-level noise* in quiet environments, insert attached filter caps
into filter holes and push in until snug.
* Inserting filter caps negates noise-reducing filters’ abilities to let ambient sounds &
conversations pass safely through.
FITTING & TESTING
WARNING: If the instructions above are not adhered to, the protection afforded by
EP7 Sonic Defenders
Ultra
will be severely impaired.
Remove twist tie and uncoil
lanyard. Insert lanyard ends into
small holes on the outside of EP7s,
located beneath the noise-reducing
filters, and push in until lanyard
ends snap in place. To remove, pull
gently on lanyard ends until they
disconnect from earplugs.

REPLACING COMPLY™ CANAL TIPS
For optimal performance, the Comply™Canal Tips used on EP7s should be
replaced every 2 - 4 weeks or when soiled. Additional tips can be purchased
directly from SureFire. To replace Comply ™Canal Tips: 1. Unscrew old tips
and discard. 2. Wipe earplug stems clean with a clean, dry rag. 3. Screw on
new tips until fully seated and hand tight. DO NOT overtighten, as this may
damage the stems. ALWAYS replace both tips at the same time.
