5. o not leave the equipment for long periods in environments where
corrosion or degrading the metal parts could take place as a result of
vapors from organic materials. (e.g. rain, fog, in direct sunlight) Keep
the equipment indoors when not in use.
6.Workplace: Must consider the working environment before using
this equipment, extreme heat, chemical hazards, sharp edges, elec-
trical hazards and other climatic conditions which may cause the
equipment to fail.
7.Any dangers may arise by using the combination with other safety
products: Make sure the harness and connector are compliant with
the manufacture’s instruction and meet relevant CE standard; eg,
EN361 for safety harness, EN795 for tripod system, EN353-1, EN353-
2, EN354, EN355 and EN360 for fall arrester system; EN341 for rescue
system; EN358 for work positioning system.
8.If this product is re-sold outside the original country of destination,
the reseller shall provide instructions manual, in the language of the
country in which the product is to be used.
9.This equipment is a personal issue item.
10.Remove the equipment from service immediately and contact the
authorized company or manufacturer if there is any deficiency or
doubt of the condition, e.g. wire rope damage, connector damage,
housing damage, loose screws, bent connectors, any malfunction. o
not use until the equipment has been inspected by an authorized
company or manufacturer, and returned with a written approval of
use.
11.This equipment can operate in temperatures between -30 and 50
Celsius.
12.The equipment is only designed for a single fall. If a fall occurs, re-
move the equipment from service immediately and contact the aut-
horized company or manufacture for maintenance or service.
13.If a complete system is supplied, that components of any complete
system shall not be substituted.
14.Warning: any dangers that may arise by the use of combination of
items of equipment in which the safe function of any one item is affec-
ted by or interferes with the safe function of another.
15.In applications where an SRL is used in conjunction with a hori-
zontal system, the SRL and horizontal system components must be
compatible.
HORIZONTAL SE (PPE-R 1 1.060)
Retractable type fall arrester was tested also for horizontal use and a
drop over a Type A edge has been successfully tested.
Type A edge definition: A steel edge with a radius of r = 0,5 mm and
without burrs was used for the test.
ue to this test, the equipment may be used over similar edges, as
can be found e.g. at rolled steel profiles, at wooden beams or at a clad,
rounded roof parapet. However, the following shall be considered
when the equipment is used in a horizontal or transverse arrangement
and a risk of a fall from a height over an edge exists:
1. If the risk assessment carried out before the start of the work shows
that the edge is very “cutting” and / or “free of burrs” (such as in case
of an unclad roof pa rapet, a rusty steel girder or a concrete edge) −
relevant measures shall be taken before the start of the work to pre-
vent a drop over the edge or, −before the start of work, an edge pro-
tection shall be mounted or− the manufacturer shall be contacted.
2. The anchor point may only be situated at the same height as the
edge at which a fall might occur or above the edge.
3. Required distance from the ground below the user's feet in the spe-
cific case of horizontal use. The clearance distance is minimum 5.5M
plus plus an extra distance of 1M below the user’s feet.
4. To attenuate a drop ending in a pendulum movement, the working
area or lateral movements to both sides of the centre axis shall be li-
mited to a maximum of 1.50 m. In other cases, no individual
anchor points, but, e.g., type C or type anchor devices in
accordance with EN 795:2012 shall be used.
a) This retractable lifeline cannot be used with a type C an-
chor device in accordance with EN 795:2012 with a horizontal
flexible anchor line. (Note: This combination must have been
submitted to EU type examination.) Furthermore, the deflec-
tion of the anchor device shall be taken into account when
determining the clearance required below the feet of the
user. To that effect, the indications specified in the instruc-
tions for use of the anchor device shall be considered.
b) The deflection of the anchor device shall be taken into ac-
count when determining the clearance required below the
feet of the user. To that effect, the indications specified in the
instructions for use of the anchor device shall be considered.
c) Special attention must be paid to eliminate any risks of in-
jury during fall arrest when the user collides with parts of
building or construction during a fall over the edge.
d) If there is a possibility of a fall over the edge, special rescue
measures must be implemented. It is important and neces-
sary to ensure that these measures are defined, tested and
trained before starting any intervention.
INSPECTION
1.ALWAYS INSPECT THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE EACH USE: If any of
the following inspections has problems, immediately remove
the equipment from service. o not use until the problem has
been fixed by an approved service company, or manufacture.
2.Check the legibility of the product markings.
3.Check the housing cover for distortions, cracks or other da-
mages. Inspect the housing for screws that may be loose,
bent, or damaged.
4.Inspect the snap hook and karabiner for signs of damage,
corrosion, or cuts. Ensure the latch opens freely.
5.Hang the equipment vertically on a solid anchoring point,
pull the wire cable out slowly and inspect the cable for co-
rrosion, cuts, abrasion, burns, heavy soiling, chemical con-
tact, irregular color, or damage. After the inspection of the
entire cable is complete, slowly retract the cable back into
the case.
6.With the cable inside the case, test the braking mechanism
by hanging it vertically on a solid anchoring point. Hold the
secure snap hook, and pull downwards quickly.
The brake should activate, and the cable will stop. If the cable
slips, do not use the equipment.
7.When the swivel snap hook fall indicator shows, do not try
to reset it. A red band will be visible as shown in the diagram
(Figure 5). Contact the authorized company or manufacturer
for service.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1.Service is only conducted by an authorized company or ma-
nufacturer. If there any doubt of the equipment, remove the
equipment from the service immediately and contact the
authorized company or manufacturer for service.
2.Clean the equipment before and after use: use mild, neutral
PH soap and warm water to remove the dirt; 70% ethyl al-
cohol with a cloth or sponge to disinfect the equipment.
3.When the equipment becomes wet, either during use or
during cleaning, allow the equipment to dry naturally, and
keep away from direct heat sources.
