Component #1: The Cotton Pre-Filter
The Cotton Pre-Filter sits inside the detachable Water Inlet
and provides the first line of defense to remove large particles
from incoming water. The Water Inlet is internally threaded to
accept a 28 mm bottle thread (used by many soda pop bottles).
It is also designed to attach to the Survivor Filter Collapsible
Canteens as shown in the photo below.

The Ultra Filter sits inside the body of the Survivor Filter and
uses hollow fiber membranes.
The Survivor Filter is rated for 100,000 Liters (26,417 Gallons),
depending on the quality of water to be filtered. If you are
noticing that the water flow is becoming reduced, then this is an
indication that the Ultra Filter has become clogged with
contaminants. Follow the instructions in this manual on how to
easily remove and clean the Ultra Filter.

Can I use the Survivor Filter to filter salt water?
Copyright SURVIVOR FILTER™ 2017 11
The Survivor Filter Personal Water Filter
Frequently Asked Questions
No. The Survivor Filter is intended for use with fresh water
sources only. DO NOT USE IN SALT WATER.
Will a standard water bottle fit with the Survivor Filter?
No. The Survivor Filter is designed to fit with a 28 mm
thread typically found on pop bottles. Pop bottles hold
pressurized liquids, so the cap threads need to be strong
and rigid to prevent leakage. Since water bottles are not
pressurized, their cap threads tend to be weaker and less
rigid. We designed the Survivor Filter threads to accept a
28 mm pop bottle thread in order to reduce the chance of
leakage when drinking.
Can I clean the filters? How is this done?
Yes. The Survivor Filter is designed to allow the user to
easily remove, clean or replace the filters. Please see page
17 for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions
Replacement filters and parts are easily available on
Amazon.com, at www.survivorfilter.com, or by calling us at
1-888-602-6367
How often should I clean or replace the filters?
Under most conditions, the Survivor Filter can effectively
filter up to 100,000 Liters (26,417 Gallons) from most fresh
water sources before cleaning or replacing of the filters is
required. If the water source is particularly dirty or
contaminated, more frequent replacement of the Carbon
Filter and cleaning/replacement of the Ultra Filter may be
required in order to keep your Survivor Filter working
properly.
