Gateway Operating Instructions (D - GB)
Please read carefully!
These operating instructions form an integral part of this product and contain important information on how to commission, install and
operate it. They must be taken into consideration and given to the end user or other third party when the installer hands over the
product. These operating instructions must be retained for future reference.
Damage resulting from abuse or misuse is not covered by warranty. The manufacturer accepts no warranty for consequential losses
that may result directly or indirectly from use of this equipment. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the user´s authority to operate the equipment.
The product meets the requirements of the current European and national guidelines for electromagnetic compatibility. Conformity has been
established and the relevant statements and documents have been deposited at the manufacturer.
1 Mode of Operation
The Gateway GW-12 is part of a call system and is used to create subnets within the main network. Subnets serve to reduce the
channel load in the main network and therefore communicate on a different frequency channel. The gateway handles both the
monitoring of the subnet components and the interface to the main network. In the main network the central unit, repeaters and main
network transmitters communicate with each other. In the subnet only subnet transmitter are communicating with the gateway.
It s ould be noted t at for applications t at could put uman life at risk, by using radio connection t ere is always
present a potential azard due to extraneous disturbances. T e Operating Instructions need to be followed at all
times.
It is forbidden to modify or change component parts of this product!
2 Range of operation
Inside of buildings there are various technical conditions that may influence strongly the range of operation. Nevertheless up to 80m
meters may be reached with the calling system.
The range may be reduced for the following reasons:
Buildings, vegetation or any other objects will substantially reduce the operating range.
The distance between the antenna and the human body or other conducting objects (e.g. Earth)
"Background electrical noise" could be relatively high so that the signal-to-noise-ratio decreases and there for the range.
Also other devices, with similar operating frequency, located within the neighbourhood may disturb the receiver.
Operating the receiver next to inadequately shielded electronic boards or other devices (e.g. PC’s) that produce electromagnetic
radiation, can substantially reduce the range of operation and could result in an apparent intermittent operation.
It is forbidden to modify, c ange or manipulate component parts of t e product!
3 Description of Operation
The gateway GW-12 is equipped with a 230V AC adapter to be connected at mains supply. After connection the gateway is running
immediately. In addition, the gateway GW-12 includes an interruption-free power supply. To benefit from this feature, insert the 9V block
battery in the intended holder.
As supply for GW-12 please use a 230V socket which is reserved for this gateway because its function only is assured with supply.
Protect the plug against unauthorized removal.
If the GW-12 is already teached in at the base station (see manual of the base station), you may search for a suitable location. We
recommand to test the operativeness before installing the repeater definitly.
Each gateway creates a subnet within the main network. There are subnet transmitters in this subnet that are monitored by the
gateway. The frequency channel of the main network is significantly relieved because the monitoring if the subnet transmitters is
performed only locally and on a different frequency channel. Changes to parameters at the subnet transmitters are collected and sent
from the gateway to the base station only when needed. Events at the transmitters and settings by the base station are forwarded
immediately.
In addition to the management of subnets and the function as interface between main network and subnet, the gateway includes a full
repeater function to forward messages in the main network.
For wall-attachment, the housing must be completely opened and the intended recess has to be broken. Afterwards the gateway can
simply be hung on a screw or a hook.
Please c eck regularly t e correct functionality of calls.
