Overview
CAUTION
Observe precautions for handling electrostatic discharge sen-
sitive devices.

The installation kit contains an USB interface [A] and a USB stick [B]. It can
be used:
• as data logger
• for firmware upload

Install the USB Interface
To install the USB interface proceed as follows:
1. Switch power off.
Depending on your application stop operation according to chapter Stop of Opera-
tion for Maintenance in the manual.
2. Open the transmitter housing.
3. Insert the USB interface with the plug [D] facing towards the mainboard [F] into the
slot.
4. Insert the USB stick [B] into the USB socket [C].
5. Close the transmitter housing.
6. Switch power on.
The USB stick is recognized automatically.

After the USB stick has been installed, in the firmware the following two menus are
added:

GThe push button (G) has the following two functions, if it is pressed down:
• the calibration history and the event history are copied to the USB stick
• the USB stick is deactivated.
HThe blue LED is on if the USB stick is installed and ready to record data.
The blue LED is off if the function <Eject USB stick> has been activated or the push-
button has been pressed.
ILED 1 (green) is blinking during the internal installation sequence of the USB Interface
JLED 2 (green) is blinking if the USB stick is active
is steady on if the USB stick is ejected but remains in the socket.
Is off if the USB stick is removed from its socket

Remove the USB Stick
To remove the USB stick proceed as follows:
Variant 1 with power interruption (recommended)
1. Navigate to menu Operation/Logger.
2. Select <Eject USB stick> and press <Enter> (Details see p. 7, Read Logger Data).
3. Switch power off.
4. Open the transmitter housing.
5. Press the USB interface [A] down while pulling out the USB stick [B].

Take adequate safety precautions before opening the transmitter housing
Variant 2 without power interruption
1. Open the transmitter housing.
2. Press the push-button [G] on the USB interface.
3. Wait until the blue LED is switched off.
4. Press the USB interface [A] down while pulling out the USB stick [B].

Read Logger Data
To read the logger data from the USB stick proceed as follows:
1. Remove the USB stick from the AMI transmitter. Proceed according to section
“Remove USB Stick, Variant 1” on page 6.
Note: The function <Eject USB stick> has the following effect:
• the calibration history and the event history are copied to the USB stick
• the logger file will be completed (next time the USB stick is inserted a new logger
file will be created).
• the USB stick will be deactivated
2. Insert the UBS stick into the USB socket of your notebook or PC.
Depending on the Firmware there are 3 or more txt files which contain the logger
data. For example:
• Event history
• Calibration history
• Logger data
3. Copy the files to your notebook or PC.
4. Remove the USB stick and insert it into the USB interface of the AMI transmitter again
Load Firmware
To install a Firmware update from the USB stick proceed as follows:
1. Write down all customer-specific firmware settings (parameters for instrument op-
eration, configuration of signal outputs and relays etc.)
2. Download the logger data to the USB stick using the function <Eject USB stick> in
the menu Operation/Logger.
3. Remove the USB stick from the AMI transmitter. Proceed according to section
“Remove USB Stick, Variant 1” on page 6.
4. Leave the transmitter switched off.
5. Insert the USB stick into the USB socket of your notebook or PC.
6. Copy all files you need (“aout.a37”; *.hex) to the root directory of the USB stick.
7. Remove the USB stick from the USB socket of your notebook or PC
8. Insert the USB stick into the USB interface of the AMI transmitter again.
9. Close the transmitter housing.
10. Switch on power.
11. Navigate to <Installation>/<Miscellaneous>/<Load Firmware>.
12. Press [Enter] and select <yes>.

12. Press <Enter> again.
The Firmware update starts.
This method updates the firmware of the AMI instrument with all files with the exten-
sion <.a37> or <.hex> that are located in the root directory of the USB stick.
After the update has been finished:
13. Navigate to <Installation>/<Miscellaneous>/<Set defaults>.
14. Press [Enter] and select <completely> .
15. Press [Enter], [Exit] and confirm with <Yes>.
The AMI transmitter restarts and all settings are set to the default values.
16. Enter the customer-specific settings according to the notes taken.
