P tting the device into service
Supply of electric current
The RES.Q DE955 is supplie by a lithium polymer rechargeable battery. Use only genuine Swiss-
phone lithium polymer rechargeable batteries.
The RES.Q DE955 can be charge using the mains a apter which is attache to the bottom of the
battery charger which is supplie as part of this package. Alternatively there are various other
charging evices available.
For safety reasons only use genuine charging evices from the Swissphone range of accessories!
Important information
• Do not expose lithium polymer rechargeable batteries to high temperatures
• Do not destroy lithium polymer rechargeable batteries
• Do not short circuit lithium polymer rechargeable batteries
Inserting the battery
Insert the battery in the rear si e of the RES.Q DE955 an make sure that it has clicke completely
into place at both the top en an the bottom en .
Switching on automatically
After the batteries have been installe the RES.Q DE955 switches itself on automatically.

Field strength indicator
Shoul the receiver remain outsi e the reception area for any length of time then the fiel strength
in icator becomes visible on the isplay. This function requires that messages are sent at regular
intervals.

Key lock f nction
The key lock function prevents the unintentional pressing of the keys by mistake. It is activate
automatically after a pre etermine time if the key lock function is switche on. This can be
switche on or off by means of the menu function Settings.
To deactivate the key lock function
The key lock function can be eactivate by pressing the top scroll key <top> an the lower scroll
key <bottom> at the same time an then letting go of the keys.
To read the last message inspite of the key lock function
The last (rea or unrea ) message can also be rea even when the key lock is activate . It can
however not be esignate as rea when the key lock is activate .

To switch to the main menu in stan -by mo e press the confirmation key <OK>. The first item to
appear on the menu is generally Rea latest message. The main menu can be scrolle upwar s
or ownwar s by pressing on the lower <bottom> an upper <top> scroll keys. By repeate ly
pressing on the confirmation key <OK> a selection of items on the menu is obtaine or else there
is a change to the submenu that has been selecte .
The current menu can be exite in each case by means of the menu item Back.
Directly switching back to the stand-by mode
To irectly switch back to the stan -by mo e press the upper scroll key <top> for a long time.
Customised menu structure
In ivi ual menu items within the menu structure can be ifferent or can not be shown at all
epen ing on the configuration an programming of your RES.Q DE955.

Messages
You are alerte imme iately of any messages receive ; they are isplaye an file in the mes-
sage memory. In stan -by mo e new (unrea ) messages are isplaye by New message!
Reading new messages
A newly receive message appears imme iately on the isplay an an alarm given which epen s
on the alarm setting that is in use at the time. To stop the au ible alarm, press any key. With the
acknowle gement key <OK> or the lower scroll key <bottom> scroll through the various items
an the message will be esignate as having been rea .
In stan -by mo e messages isplaye with New message! can be rea by pressing on the
confirmation key <ok>.
In or er to be able to esignate these messages as rea the key lock function must be eacti-

Call memory
If your evice has been configure with a call memory function then you will be re-alerte of any
unrea calls after a pre etermine time (see section ‘Alarm options’). The call memory function
will be switche off as soon as the relevant message(s) has or have been rea .
Reading, deleting and saving messages
Messages esignate as rea are file in the Messages menu un er Read Messages.
At the en of the message by pressing the confirmation key <OK>, the menu to save or elete this
message will be shown. A itionally the complete message list can be elete .
Using Save message the current message can be save . As a result Saved messages will appear
in the menu. The protection of save messages can be remove again in the same way. The mes-
sage is then to be foun un er Read Messages.

Using Delete Message the message will finally be elete . Delete message list eletes all mes-
sages in a list of messages.
Message files
The RES.Q DE955 can be provi e with up to two message files epen ing on how it has been
programme . Although messages which are file in the message files will be isplaye , you will
not receive an alarm. They can not or must not be esignate as rea . In a ition they will not be
isplaye as New message! when the evice is in stan -by mo e.

Conforming messages
With the RES.Q DE955 the receipt of messages can be confirme automatically an a response
sent to the message. By means of the GSM fee back channel the relevant information (e.g. I am
coming or I am not coming) can be returne at once to the control centre to be evaluate .
Reading and responding to new messages
A newly receive message appears at once on the isplay an an alarm signal is pro uce
accor ing to the alarm setting that is in use at the time. To stop the au ible alarm, press any key.
With the confirmation key <OK> or the lower scroll key <bottom> then you will scroll through the
items an the message will be esignate as having been rea .
You will then have the opportunity to provi e information about your participation in the forth-
coming operation. To o this choose one of the possibilities which are available for selection an
confirm your choice with the confirmation key <OK>. Choose Abort in or er to not sen a
response an to not provi e any fee back.

Responding at a later time to a message to which no response was initially given
If a message was rea , but no response was sent, or if the response was aborte , the status
report No response to m appears on the isplay. Respon as escribe above. See section: Rea -
ing an respon ing to new messages.
Period of time allowed for responding to messages
The perio of time allowe for respon ing to messages varies from organisation to organisation
an is etermine by the control centre. If this pre etermine perio of time is excee e then no
response can be ma e to any messages.
Location (only for RES.Q DE955-GP)
By means of the integrate GPS receiver mo ule which is integrate into the RES.Q DE955-GP it
is possible, at the same time the response is given, to an alarm to provi e information to the con-
trol centre about the location of your evice. Inform the responsible person in your organisation
about the configuration of your RES.Q DE955-GP. If require the position fin ing feature in the
menu item ‘Settings/GPS’ can be eactivate .
Zonal alarms / Geo alarm (only for RES.Q DE955-GP)
The integrate GPS receiver mo ule makes it possible using the RES.Q DE955-GP to be provi e
with an alarm which is epen ent on the evice’s position. If the RES.Q DE955-GP is locate
within a efine geographical area it will receive alarm messages as usual. If the RES.Q DE955-
GP is outsi e this area it will not receive any alarm messages.

Alarms
Alarm messages can basically be ivi e into messages with an without a priority assigne to
them. This epen s on the configuration of the correspon ing receiver a ress (RIC).
In the alarm menu the RES.Q DE955 can be configure to Loud (lou alarm with vibration),
Discrete (minibeep with vibrator), Mute (vibration only) an Off (visual isplay only).
Initial position: stan -by mo e
• Press <OK> an the menu item Read latest message will be isplaye
• Choose the menu item Alarms using the <bottom> key
• Press <OK> again
• Select the esire alarm setting using the <bottom> an <top> keys
• Press <OK> to apply the selecte alarm settings
WARNING:
The device should not be brought close to your ears. The very loud sound produced by the
alarm could damage your hearing.

Priority messages
When the alarms are pro uce au ibly, priority messages are pro uce for twice as long as nor-
mal ones. For the remaining types of alarms, the arrival of priority messages will at first be
announce by means of vibration an then using both soun an vibration. The following table
shows the behaviour of the alarm correspon ing to the following configurations.
