1: Clean the frame using warm water and a mild detergent. Ensure that it is dry
before removing any parts.
2: Remove the upper frame assembly. Note that springs and spacer tube should be
inside the vertical tubes of the lower frame. If these are not present note this for
further investigation. Remove the springs etc and set aside.
3: Inspect the wheels for damage and smooth rotation. If the wheels are in good
condition they can be reused. Apply light machine oil to the wheel bearings Ensure
that all wheel fixings are secure (23 –26lbft).
4: Check the operation of wheel brakes if fitted. Notify the customer of any problems.
New parts will carry an additional cost.
5: On medium and large units check the operation of the lifting mechanism. The
operation of the spring buttons must be smooth. Adjust if necessary.
6: Check all pivot bolts for security - tighten as required. Do not use excess force to
tighten these bolts - 12-15lbft of torque is sufficient.
7: Refit the springs and spacers into the lower frame uprights.
8: Apply light machine oil inside the lower frame uprights. Refit the upper frame.
Check the upper frame moves easily on the springs.
9: Inspect all upper frame locking levers for damage. Replace as necessary. Please
note these are not the same type as used on chairs.
10: Release the pivot bolts for the front arm rest. Check that the angle can be
adjusted. If it does not move the taper must be released with a tap from a nylon
mallet.
11: Ensure that all adjustments in the upper frame operate smoothly and easily. It may
be necessary to adjust the clamp bolts adjacent to the locking levers to each
adjustment. Pay particular attention to the adjustments under the seat.
12: Check the security of the Thoracic ring. Tighten the two bolts holding this to the
upright posts either side. Do not over tighten 15lbft max. If any of these bolts do
not tighten or are broken the Thoracic ring must be replaced and new bolts used.
