Put on safety glasses. Place the base on a flat surface.
Before placing the top on, make sure all four locks
are in the unlocked position. This is with the keyhole
in a vertical position and the latch in a straight down
position. Place and align the top shell on the base. The
top will overlap the base and slide over the lip of the
base. The latch of the lock should also be through the
corresponding slots in the base. (Fig 1)
BEFORE YOU USE
On top shell make sure all four cams are in the unlocked position and in slots. Note that the latch should go
completely through the slot in the ledge in the base. (Fig 2) The key can be inserted to turn and lock the cam in this
position. (Fig 3) At this point, lock one side of the cargo carrier so that the locks act as a hinge. Determine this by
deciding which side you prefer to load the cargo carrier and lock the two locks on the opposite side.

OPTIONAL TOOLS:

If the cross rails on the vehicle are movable, set them at 24” apart measured from the center of the rail. (Fig 4) The
lower, more streamelined section of the cargo carrier is the front and should be pointed in the same direction as the
front of the vehicle. (Fig 5)
The cross rails on some vehicles are not adjustable and may require additional holes drilled into the bottom of the
cargo carrier to match the fixed position width. If holes need to be drilled, attach the base of the cargo carrier to the
rear cross rails first, using the predrilled holes and instructions in the following sections. There are drill marks set at 2”
apart. Measure and mark using the mounting back plate as a template for the hole positions.(Fig 6) Remove the base
from the roof to drill the holes. Use a 9/32” drill bit.
Note: This cargo carrier will fit multiple crossbar styles. Be aware of mounting location as it relates to rear hatch
opening for some vehicles. (Fig 7)

Before mounting cargo carrier onto the roof rack of the vehicle, we will attach the internal uprights to the top of the
carrier. While holding the lid open, locate the closest upright on either the forward or rear internal surface. (Fig 8) Raise
the upright on front and rear ends and place the ball stud into the larger hole and slide into the locked position. On the
10 CU.FT model, there will only be one ball stud. Be sure to use the closest upright for the 18 CU.FT model (Fig 9).
Carefully, lift cargo carrier onto the roof rack trying to center it on the vehicle. From the bottom, slide the mounting
bracket around the rail and through both pre-drilled holes. (Fig 10) Slide the mounting plate over the threaded posts
inside the cargo carrier. (Fig 11)

Thread knobs onto the threaded posts from the previous
step. (Fig 12) Do not fully tighten at this point. Repeat the
mounting bracket, mounting plate and knobs steps until
all four brackets, four mounting plates and eight knobs
are loosely in place. Look from the front and rear of the
vehicle and center the cargo carrier as needed. Tighten
all eight knobs evenly and securely.
Load the cargo carrier with gear. Proportionately
distribute the weight and do not exceed the maximum
allowed weight of either the cargo carrier or cross rails.
(Fig 13)
Close top lid by releasing the uprights and place the cam
locks into the slots. Lock and remove the key.
Place the bale latch on the front of the carrier onto the top ledge of the lid (Fig 14) and lower the lever to the closed
and locked position. (Fig 15) This will keep the front leading edge of the cargo carrier from rising from wind and
elements.
CONSULT YOUR AUTOMOBILE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR RECOMMENDED ROOF RACK LOAD
CAPACITY. THE CARGO CARRIER SHOULD NOT EXCEED A MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF 110 LBS.
