Operating Requirements
The FlexSet-IP 280S has a unique MAC address that identifies the telephone to the
Coral system database. This MAC address must be entered into the PI Database of the
Coral system.
The FlexSet-IP 280S is available in ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ hardware issues. To verify the
hardware issue check on the bottom of the IP Keyset (second character on the lower
UPC bar code), on the outside of the FlexSet-IP 280S packing box, via the keyset’s
web page, or as displayed on the SysDef menu of the keyset (Table 6 on page 61).
The phone must be connected to the LAN, connected to an external power source
(depending on system power configuration, see Supplying Power to the Phone, page 41)
and configured for the relevant IP addresses in order to begin operation, as
documented in this chapter.
The FlexSet-IP 280S is designed to operate over Ethernet LAN with a connection of
less than 100 meters to the local switch when using Category 5 UTP (unshielded
twisted pair).

Coral IPx/FlexiCom system. See Feature Authorization (Route: FEAT, 1), page 50.
If the phone has not been authorized to operate on this system, contact the
manufacturer’s representative.
2Verify that an adequate number of ports and media channels have been defined
in the Coral IPx/FlexiCom system for the FlexSet-IP 280S. See Size Definition

packaging box, or displayed on the graphic display of the phone.
2Define parameters in the PI that apply for all keysets in the system, including
system features, station and keyset timers, idle display, and fixed system keys.
See System-wide Defined Parameters for All Keysets, page 53.
3Assign the phone to groups as required. See Possible Group Assignments,

alternative call agent if its primary call agent is not available, and return to the primary
call agent when the connection can be re-established.
The survivability feature must be configured in the PI and on the phone itself. See
Survivability, page 57.
