Crossover™by
Tattered Lace®

Congratulaons on your purchase of the Crossover™, the latest revoluonary die cung
and embossing machine that can be used for papercra, quilng, general sewing and so
much more. The Crossover™ is a result of months of development with features, such as
the adjustable pressure system that allow you to provide awless cuts with a whole range
of materials.
The Crossover™ is a sturdy, reliable and easy to use tool. It is easy to store and can be
transported, yet very robust in its design. Don’t forget to register your machine to acvate
your two year warranty (see warranty card included).
The Crossover™ is compable with most exisng paper and fabric die brands. When used
alongside Linen and Lace deep dish dies, the machine gives you the opportunity to cut
mulple layers, depending on thickness, to make die cung quicker and easier than ever.

INSTRUCTIONS
STORAGE
The Crossover™ is easy to store and can be transported using
the carry handles. Simply remove the cung plates and fold the
sides into the centre. The handle can be folder up to the side
of the machine with the aid of a built in magnet. To release the
handle, it will drop down and lock into place.

www.taeredlace.co.uk
To ghten, move the wheel towards you. This adjuster allows you to ne tune the
pressure of the rollers. Below the thumbwheel is a slider with numbers. Numbered ‘0’
to ‘18’, the lower numbers are a general seng for thinner dies and materials, while the
larger numbers open up the rollers for thicker materials and dies. We suggest you ‘make
friends’ with your Crossover™ and you will quickly adjust to using the thumbwheel and will
ancipate the correct sengs for your projects.
PRESSURE ADJUSTMENTS
The Crossover™ oers the unique capability to
adjust the space between the rollers, eliminang
the need to use shims and mulple layers of plasc
to get a good result. The adjustment ‘thumbwheel’
is conveniently placed between two arrows on
the centre top of the machine. If le-handed, turn
the machine around, however, ensure you turn
the handle counter-clockwise when operang the
machine.
To lessen pressure, move the wheel away from you.
INSTRUCTIONS
THE CUTTING PLATFORM
The basic plaorm consists of two layers. A
thick white base and a thick clear plasc cung
plate for viewing. The Crossover™ cung plate
is almost twice as thick as smaller machines
available, and will last much longer without
‘bowing’. Included in your package is a stainless
steel adaptor plate for detailed die cuts or mul-
layer fabric cuts.
Use the thick white plaorm as the base plate then place your choice of die on top with
the blade facing up. Remember that you can add mulple dies to the plate to make cung
even quicker. Posion your appropriate layers of material over the die and depending on
whether you require extra pressure for detailed designs, place the stainless steel adaptor
plate over the top. Finish with the clear top plate and adjust the machine rollers accordingly
before cung. To emboss, use the same plate conguraon and place the embossing folder
on the base plate with the material in between.

SUGGESTED SETTINGS
A wide number of materials can be used with Deep Dish Dies, some of which can cut
several layers depending on the thickness. The ‘+’ symbol on the thumbwheel will posion
the rollers closer together, where the ‘-’ symbol will move them further apart. It is always
best to experiment with your plaorm pressure by selecng a number, layering up the
plaorm as instructed and feeding through the machine. If the handle is proving dicult to
turn, remove the plates and adjust the rollers slightly then try again. It is important not to
force the handle as it will cause the plates to spring back when pushed too hard.
The stainless steel adaptor plate is oponal and can be used to make cung mulple layers
more eecve as it will ensure a cleaner cut through the fabric threads. It is also ideal for
intricate die designs. Simple designs in thin materials such as paper do not require this
metal plate.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Adjust your seng to 0-4 on the pressure scale. Turn the handle. If the plaorm has no
resistance in turning, move the thumbwheel toward you (+ for more pressure). If the
handle does not turn without signicant pressure, the plaorm is too ght and you will
need to turn the thumbwheel away from you slightly. As you become more used to the
Crossover™ you will recognise when you have the right pressure for the parcular type of
die you are using.
For detailed dies, we recommend the stainless steel adaptor. You may place the adaptor
plate under the die so that you can sll see the cung acvity without taking the plaorm
assembly apart. Pass the plaorm through and then back. Observe the die cung success.
If the die cut is not complete, back the plaorm out, adjust the thumbwheel and then pass
the plaorm through again.
The gears on the Crossover™ have been sized so that the plaorm rolls through the
machine quickly. If you nd that the handle is too hard to turn, it’s likely you have set
the rollers too ghtly. Simply move the thumbwheel away from you aer removing the
plaorm.
PAPER CRAFTING
INSTRUCTIONS

www.taeredlace.co.uk
With the adjustable feature of the Crossover™, embossing folders and embossing metal
plates can be used for dierent depths of embossing or debossing. Test a strip of scrap
paper rst using a rubber embossing pad for metal plates or even an open face of a plasc
embossing folder to determine your desired eect. You have complete control over the
pressure exerted on the embossing media.

TOP TIPS
• To ensure the Crossover™ performs at its best, place on a at, solid surface.
• When using mulple dies with the Crossover™ in one go, ensure that you are using dies
that are all the same depth. This will ensure that any of the regular blades will sll have
enough pressure applied to that area, the roller depth can be be made bigger for deep dish
dies.
• If you are working on a mixed media project, try cung dierent materials in one go
to save me. As long as your materials combined are not thicker than the recommended
thickness and the sengs are correct, you can mix paper, card, fabric and more to make die
cung even quicker.
• Always ensure when cung thicker materials such as foam, that they are set back from
the edge of the cung plates before feeding through the machine. The chamfered edge
of the base plate will help feed it through but the space will provide extra leverage so the
plates do not sck.
• The large Crossover™ plates can accomodate a number of dies. When working on
projects in large quanes, such as invitaons, why not purchase more than one die of the
same design to make producing the die cut even quicker.
• To prevent waste on large sheets of paper, card and fabric, posion your die on the base
plate and add your choice of material to the top in its enrety, ensuring that it is in the top
corner as close to the edge as possible. This saves cung pieces o and is great if you are
trying to paern match a design, simply move the die along and carry on.
• The Crossover™ is a robust and sturdy machine which makes it unlikely to slide around
while in moon. However, to prevent any dies moving on the base plate, use low tack tape
or a magnec sheet to hold the dies in place while cung.
• If you are having trouble cung intricate designs, a Hotspot Helper is the perfect
soluon to adding a lile extra pressure required to the centre of your base plate. They are
readily available to purchase and are aached to the Crossover™ cung plate to make dies
cut with an even crisper nish.
