Set-up instructions
Hitching to the tractor
For hitching, choose a place as flat as possible.
Drive the tractor in reverse gear in the spreader direction and be ready to brake. When
you get close to the spreader use the lever to control the position of the hydraulic
system, positioning the lower left arm at the same level of the spreader hitching pin.
1) Hitch the lower left arm and place the cotter pin (A).
2) Hitch the upper arm (third point) and place the cotter pin (B).
3) Hitch the lower right arm, which have up and down movements by the leveling
crank. At this moment, the extended thread from the upper arm (third point) can be
used to move the spreader closer or farther from the tractor, making it easier to hitch.
Preparing the tractor
The addition of water ballasts on the tires and a set of weights on the front part or on
the rear wheels of the tractor are the most used ways to increase soil traction and to give
a greater stability to the tractor. Check if the tractor is in full conditions before using it.
The following instructions must be carefully observed in order to assure the best
performance during the job.

Set-up instructions
For a perfect hitching the spreader should be centered with the tractor, which is done
as follows:
• Align the spreader front hitch with the third point of the tractor.
• Totally lift the spreader.
• Check if the distances between the lower arms and the tires are the same on both
sides (as "A" in the figure below) and they should be leveled.
NOTE Never adjust the lower arms of the hydraulic system if the spreader is in a
lowered position.

Height adjustment and horizontal leveling
The working adjustment of the DCA 1200 is determined by having as reference the
distance of the spreader plates from the ground which is 80 cm.
Once the working height of the spreader plates is defined, adjust it in such a way that
when viewed from the side and from behind the equipment is in a horizontal position and
centered with the tractor, keeping the 80 cm distance of the spreader plates from the ground.

Set-up instructions
Cardan shaft coupling to the power take-off
Before starting operations, check the length of the cardan shaft based on the tractor,
as well as on its proper assembly.
• Being the spreader properly hitched to the tractor (but with the cardan uncoupled),
move the hydraulic system to find the minimum distance (A) between the power take-off
and the spreader.
• Remove the "female" part from the cardan shaft and couple it to the PTO.
• Then, position it over the "male" part as if it were coupled and check the dimensions.
AA
5 cm5 cm
5 cm5 cm
Reducing the cardan shaft length
If necessary, cut similar parts of the "male" and "female" shaft, as well as the protective
covers. But before cutting, check every possibility of using the cardan without reducing its
length. Check if the drawbar has adjustments.
The length adjustment will be done when the distance between the equipment and
tractor does not allow coupling. Proceed as follows:
• First of all, disassemble the protective covers.
• Cut the hub and the solid bar (male and female) in the
desired measures. In order to do so, couple half of the cardan
shaft to the tractor and the other half to the equipment, placing
the semi-cardans in parallel and in several operating positions.
Then, determine the correct length and mark the cutting area.
• It is important to give finish working in the cut parts.
For this purpose, use a filer. Soon after, remove the filing
and lubricate the "male" with a fine layer of grease.

17
Marchesan Implementos e Máquinas Agrícolas “TATU” S.A. DCA 1200DCA 1200
Set-up instructions
• Decrease the length of both protective covers using
the cut tubes as a measure and clean the cut residues.
• Assemble the cardan shaft according to the
assembly instructions.
• When using another tractor, verify the length of the
cardan shaft again.
NOTE The contact surface between the tube and bar shall not be smaller than 1/3
of the total length.
1/31/32/32/3
Drawbar displacement
The tractor drawbar should
be displaced to the side in
order to make free room for the
cardan shaft while lowering the
equipment.
Proper assembly of the cardan shaft
When assembling the cardan,
note the correct alignment at both
ends. The wrong assembly causes
excessive vibration and damage
the transmission, thus reducing
the lifetime of the set.

NOTE When fixing the cardan shaft to the tractor PTO, fasten the chain on a fixed
point of the tractor so that the cardan cover do not turn and thus do not get
loose during maneuvers.

Positioning and placing the control to the tractor
The dual manual control (A) is used for opening and closing the gates and should
be fastened to the tractor in a comfortable position to the operator. The bracket is usually
fastened over the right wheel fender, using the control valve fastener (B).
The cables (C) should allow total lowering of the equipment to the ground,
without the cables being completely or excessively stretched.
NOTE
Flow activation system
The system activation is done by the dual manual control, and the opening adjustment
is done by spindles and injected nylon nuts that allow a fine flow adjustment and application
on just one side for finish working, if necessary.
