INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMODULE 133 MODULE
The MULTIMODULE expansion module interacts with NT133 monitoring unit via serial trans-
mission by 4 wires and allows to:
●transfer the data on a RS485 network with ModBus RTU protocol
• take from the output two 4-20 mA current signals referred to the oil and winding tem-
peratures
• have in output a pair of relays per oil, windings, fan 1, fan 2, pump 1 and pump2.
NT133 and the module are connected through an optoinsulated serial connection.

2) MOUNTING
Mount the device on the board using the fixing hooks on the back of the housing to fix it on
the rail DIN EN50022.
This device is designed to be housed in the same board where NT133 monitoring device
is mounted.
3) SUPPLY
MULTIMODULE 133 must be fed with 24 VCA/CC ±10% voltage.
In case it is fed through a direct current source, any connection polarity must be
respected.
4) CONNECTION WITH NT133 MONITORING UNIT
To connect MULTIMODULE 133 module with NT133 monitoring units it is necessary to
use a 4-lead cable with section 0.5mm2.
The serial cable must be placed as far as possible from power lines and the shielding
must be grounded on just one side.
The yellow led Rx NT-x stays fixed on if the serial communication line should be cut off or
wrongly connected.
The control software has a particular algorithm which is able to distinguish data corrupted
by possible noises.
In the event that the transmission line should be very disturbed, led Rx NT-x blinks.
In this case, you need to check the correct tightening of the terminal board screws as well
as the suited position of the cable.
5) LUMINOUS INDICATORS
The lighting of led ON near the supply connector signals the presence of 24 Volt supply
voltage.
Led Rx NT-x must be off in correct working conditions.
It turns on if the serial line should be cut off or wrongly connected.
If it blinks, it means that the serial transmission is disturbed by strong external interfer-
ences; therefore it is necessary to verify that the cable is shielded, grounded on just one
side and placed as far as possible from power lines or interference sources.
6) WORKING NOTES
For a correct working of ModBus it is necessary to load through SW1 and SW2 the RS485
network set-up parameters: address, baud rate, parity bit (Pages 17-18)
The serial communication between the temperature control monitoring unit and MULTI-
MODULE is active only when NT133 is in temperature control working mode in one of the
intended mode (Scan, Man and T.Max).
When other functions such as programming, programming display are activated, the
communication with the expanding is temporarily deactivated.

7) DATA TRANSMISSION ON MODBUS NETWORK
MULTIMODULE 133 module allows to connect NT133 monitoring unit with a RS485 net-
work with ModBus RTU protocol in order to read the data shown in table 16 and to write
the ones shown in paragraph 13.
The module is always in slave mode.
NT133 monitoring unit appears to be connected with the network only when it is in tem-
perature reading mode and not when it is in programming or programming display.
In case NT133 is not properly connected with MULTIMODULE 133, led RX NT-x stays
fixed on. If a bad data transfer between NT133 and MULTIMODULE 133 should occur,
the same led blinks.
8) RS485 CONNECTIONS
As far as the signal cable to be used in order to ensure a proper network working is con-
cerned, we recommend to follow what laid down by EIA RS485 standard which suggest
to use a 24AWG duplex cable.
The duplex cable which connects all the units in RS485 needs the activation of the 120
ohm termination on the last unit of the series (please refer to SW2 page 17).
Connect the duplex cable paying attention to polarities and lay the network avoiding to
make sharp bends or ring windings in order to avoid the modification of line impedance.
If necessary, also the GND terminal for grounding is available.
9) DATA FRAME
The frame in asynchronous transmission is composed of: 1 start bit, 8 data bits, 1 parity
bit (even or odd, if the parity has been set, please refer to SW2 page 17) and 1 stop bit.
The available Baud rate are: 2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200.
The words length (DATA) is 16 bit where not specified.
10) DATA PACKET
A complete sequence of request/answer is composed as follows:
Master request:
SLAVE ADDRESS - 1 byte
FUNCTION CODE - 1 byte
DATA - variable, it depends by function code
CRC - 2 bytes
Slave answer:
SLAVE ADDRESS - 1 byte
FUNCTION CODE - 1 byte
DATA - variable, it depends by function code
CRC - 2 bytes

11) FUNCTION CODE
MULTIMODULE 133 module supports the following function codes:
3(10):- holding register reading
16(10):- register multiple writing
If MULTIMODULE 133 receives a message and a CRC error is detected, no answer
is given.
12) CODE 3(10)
Request:
Slave address, code 3(10), Starting address HI, Starting address LO, Number of Point HI,
Number of Point LO, Crc LO, Crc HI.
Answer:
Slave address, code 3(10), Byte count, Data HI, Data LO……., Crc LO, Crc HI.
13) CODE 16(10)
Request:
Slave address, code 16(10), Starting address HI, Starting address LO, Number of Point HI,
Number of Point LO, Byte count, Data HI, Data LO……., Crc LO, Crc HI.
Answer:
Slave address, code 16(10), Starting address HI, Starting address LO, Number of Register
HI, Number of register LO, Crc LO, Crc HI.
The writable registers are the one from 00-17 to 00-31 and from 00-33 to 00-34.
Therefore the possible starting addresses are: 00-17, 00-25 e 00-33.
Number of Point LO parameter can be set from 1 to 8 (max).
If a writing request is sent to an address different from the above mentioned ones, MUL-
TIMODULE133 will answer with an error code 02 (wrong data address).
If a writing request for more than 8 registers is sent (Number of point LO), MULTI-
MODULE won’t be able to accept the request and it won’t give any answer; there-
fore the request will go in “timeout”.

14) NOTES FOR REMOTE PROGRAMMING
Also in the remote programming phase via ModBus you must take into consideration that
the Alarm thresholds must be lower than the Trip thresholds, and that Fan-ON-thresholds
must be higher than the Fan-OFF-thresholds as well as the Pump-ON thresholds must be
higher than Pump-OFF thresholds.
After a writing request, the unit will be busy for about 1” to memorize the data in eeprom;
during the memorizing phase (led TX NTxxx ON), the MULTIMODULE will not be able to
accept other requests.
15) ERROR CODES (exception code)
In case of a wrong request MULTIMODULE will answer with modified codes and codified
codes according to the following points:
1: - Non-supported error code
2: - Wrong data address
3: - Wrong data (for instance length)
16) POLLING FREQUENCY
The maximum time to give an answer to a calling never exceeds 1 second; therefore we
suggest not to use polling frequencies with lower duration.

18) CRC CALCULATION
This protocol includes 2 CRC-16 bytes for each transmission. The characteristic polyno-
mial (11000000000000101B) is used for the calculation and the result is “hung” at the end
of the package. The polynomial is used in the reverse order with the most significant bit
suppressed because useless for the calculation.

21) NETWORK PARAMETER PROGRAMMING
In order to configure the connection with RS485 ModBus-RTU network, you have to load
some parameters through dip-switch SW1 and SW2 settings.
A) Activate the programming mode positioning on 1 (on) il DIP-5 di SW2 (all the
leds will turn on)
B) Select the address (from 1 to 32) of the unit through SW1 according to the combi-
nations shown at page Page 18
C) Select required baud rate (2400-4800-9600-19200) with DIP-1 and DIP-2 of SW1
as shown in the table at Page 17
D) Select desired settings for parity bit (none-even-odd) through the combinations of
DIP-3 and DIP-4 of SW2.
E) Enable the 120 ohm termination if necessary by activating DIP-6 of SW2
F) Finally reposition on 0 (off) DIP-5 of SW2 to confirm the setting programming.
Leds turn off and the module returns in “run” mode.

22) 4.20 mA OUTPUT CONNECTION
MULTIMODULE 133 module is equipped with two 4.20 mA outputs
With each 4.20 mA output it is possible to connect a read-out or acquisition device.
The admitted load impedance for each output goes from 0 to 500 ohms.
4-20 mA signal is referred to range 0-200°C with an accuracy of 1% with respect to full
scale value.
For the range 0-200 the ratio current/temperature is the following:
Iout= (T/12,5)+4 (T= temperature in °C)
Ex._:
If T=100°C Iout= 100/12.5+4= 12 mA (±0.2 mA)

23) RULES FOR WARRANTY
The Product purchased is covered by manufacturer's warranty or the seller's terms and
conditions set forth in the "General Conditions of Sale Tecsystem srl", available at
www.tecsystem.it and / or purchase agreement.
The warranty is considered valid only when the product will be damaged by causes
attributable to TECSYSTEM srl, such as manufacturing or components defects.
The warranty is invalid if the Product proves tampered / modified, incorrectly connected,
because voltages outside the limits, non-compliance with the technical data for use and
assembly, as described in this instruction manual.
Any action about warranty is always at our factory in Corsico-MI, Italy as stated by the
" General Conditions of Sale Tecsystem srl ".
RAEE: This SYMBOL, shown on the unit, indicates that the waste must be subject to
"separate collection”. The end-user must send the unit to the “waste collection centers”, or
return the unit to the dealer against the purchase of a new equivalent device.
