Chapter 1 Product Overview
1.1 Overview
3G186R is a mobile wireless modem router designed for business
professionals and people who travel often. It’s developed based on
WCDMA and IEEE802.11n technologies. Just insert a 3G-enabled SIM
card to it and it becomes a 3G modem that provides up to speeds of
7.2Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink. It also acts as a wireless n
router, which allows you to share 3G connection with up to 5 users. The
unit gives you a true freedom of connectivity with a Lithium battery,
which enables you to do things like browsing web, emailing and chatting
for 3-4 hours, so you can access to internet anywhere anytime; when
disconnecting from internet connection, it automatically switches to and
stays in standby mode for up to 5-6 hours, elongating the battery life.

POWER(): Power LED. A solid blue light indicates a proper
connection to the power supply.
(): Battery capacity LED. A solid blue light indicates that

the battery is fully charged, a green light indicates the
battery is being
charged up while a red light indicates the battery is
fully or nearly discharged.
WIFI(): Wifi LED. A solid blue light indicates WIFI signal
transmits normally.
():3G mode LED. A solid blue light indicates a successful
3G connection.
Chapter 2 Hardware Installation
2.1 Installation

2、How to charge the battery
(1) Charge while the device is off: Use the included power adapter or
connect the Y-shaped USB cable to a computer. The battery LED stays
blue when fully charged.
(2) Charge while the device is working: Charge the device using the
included power adapter or computer and keep the power turned on in
the meantime.
Note:
1) For Battery capacity LED on the device, always Blue indicates full
capacity, Green indicates the device is being charged up while Red
indicates the battery is fully or nearly discharged.
2) Please remove the battery from the device in case of long-term
inactivity.
3、Move the power switch to where it says “ON”.
4、Connect your wireless-enabled PC to the router wirelessly: select the
corresponding wireless network name (SSID) and click “Connect”
button on the bottom right corner as shown below.

2.2 Applications
3G Mode
a. If your PC has only an installed wired network adapter, install a
wireless adapter before using the 3G186R. Refer to the below diagram
for connection:

b. If your PC is WiFi-enabled, follow the diagram below for connection.

Chapter 3 Utility Interface Login
This chapter mainly presents how to enter the Router’s Web-based
utility. The default login IP address is: 192.168.2.1.
3.1 Configuring Wireless Connection
You need a wireless network adapter to connect to the 3G186R wirelessly
for configuring settings on its web-based utility.
If you’re using Windows 7 OS, do as follows:
Step1. View wireless network connection
Click “Network”-“Properties ”and then left click “Change adapter
settings”to open network connection screen. And you will see the
wireless connection displays“Not connected”.
Step2. Select a wireless connection
Right click “Wireless Network Connection”and select “View available
wireless networks”to display all scanned wireless networks. Select the
SSID entitled “Tenda”. If you don’t find it, please click“Refresh Network
List”. (Default SSID and wireless security key can be found on where
battery is placed).

Step3. Connect
Left click “Tenda”And then click “Connect”to connect to the device.
If you’re using Windows XP, do as follows:
Step1. View wireless network connection
Right click “My Network Places”and select “Properties”. And you
will see an icon displays next to the wireless connection, which means
“NOT connected”.

Step2. Select a wireless connection
Right click “Wireless Network Connection”and select “View available
wireless networks”to display all scanned wireless networks. Select the
SSID entitled “Tenda”. If you don’t find it, please click “Refresh Network
List”. (Default SSID and wireless security key can be found on where
battery is placed).
Step3. Connect
Left click “Tenda”And then click “Connect”on the above screen to
connect to the device.

3.2 Log in to the Web-based Utility
Having connected your PC to the 3G186R wirelessly according to section
3.1 above, follow steps below to log in to the device’s interface utility:
Step1. Open a web browser, enter http://192.168.2.1 in the address
bar and then press “Enter”.
Step2. When a login page pops up, input the default Password “admin”
and click “Login”.

Step 3. You will enter an interface below:
Connection Status: Displays Upstream/Downstream Rate, Current
Traffic, Total Traffic, Current Uptime and Total Uptime info.
WIFI Management: Displays current security mode; allows you to
change SSID and security key.
User Management: Click the “Change”button next to “Password”to

change login password.
Auto-Disconnect: Displays Auto-Disconnect Policy, Time/Traffic Limit,
Remaining Time/Traffic info; Click the “Auto-Disconnect”button next
to “Auto-Disconnect Policy”for detailed settings.
Chapter 4 System Status
This section allows you to view Current Connection, 3G Status, WLAN
and System Info of the device.
4.1 Current Connection
Upload Rate: Displays current upload rate.
Download Rate: Displays current download rate.
Current Traffic: Displays current traffic for this startup.
Total Traffic: Displays accumulated total traffic for multiple startups.
Current Uptime: Displays current uptime since this startup.
Total Uptime: Displays accumulated total uptime for multiple startups.

4.2 3G Status
This section displays IP Address Primary,DNS Server, Secondary DNS
Server and APN info. You can “Connect/Disconnect”button to connect
to or disconnect from Internet.
4.3 WLAN
SSID: Displays current SSID.
Security Key: Displays current security key.
Connected Client(s): Display the number of wireless client currently
connecting to the 3G186R.
DHCP Server: Displays whether DHCP server is enabled or not.
More Info/ Advanced…: Click the “Advanced…” button to view more
WLAN info.

4.4 System Info
Uptime: Displays current uptime since this startup.
System Time: Displays the time customized by you or obtained from
Internet.
Firmware Version: Displays Firmware Version.
Boot Version: Displays Boot Version.
MAC Address: Displays device’s LAN MAC address.
Hardware Version: Displays Hardware Version.

Chapter 5 Quick Setup Wizard
This section allows you quickly setup APN, IP, authentication,SSID,
security key, and the like for Internet connection. It is recommended to
use this wizard if you fail to configure the network manually.
5.1 APN Settings
This section allows you setup dial info including ISP, APN (Access Point
Name) and dial number. Two APN modes are provided: Auto APN and
Manual APN.
5.1.1 Auto APN
If Auto APN is selected, default APN settings will be used.

5.1.2 Manual APN
Select Manual APN as shown below to modify required info, if your ISP
provides you a fixed APN.
5.1.3 LAN IP Address Settings
This section allows you to change the device ’s LAN IP address:
192.168.2.1 by default. Once you change the LAN IP address, you have
to enter the new one to get back to the utility.
To change device’s LAN IP, select “Enable”from the drop-down menu
next to where it says IP Settings, otherwise select Disable.
