wireless AP(access point),Client+AP,WDS+AP,WISP
Routerand Wireless Router.
Thedefault modeiswireless AP(access point)inthis
modethedevicecanconvertwireless andwiredsignals.
Forexample,inahotel,youwanttosharetheinternetwith
others,thereisnoneed to settherouter,thethingsyouneed
todoistoconnecttheroutertothebroadbandaccess point
and configurecomputerstoobtainanIPaddress andDNS
automatically.
ThesecondmodeistheClient+APmode.Inthismode
theroutercanrepeatandamplifythewireless signalswhile
atthesametimetransmittingandreceivingdataonRJ45
port.Enablethismodetoenhancethewireless signal,when
youandyourneighborsharetheinternet,youcangetthe

amplifiedandstablesignal.Thismodealsocanbeusedin
broadbandsatellitereceiveraccess.
ThethirdmodeisWDS+APmode. Inthismode, youcan

Chapter3 Working ModesIntroduction
Thisdevicehasfiveworkingmodes.Youcanchangethe
modesdependingontheapplications.Thischapterwill
introduce everymodeindetails.ThedefaultmodeisAP
(access point)mode.
3.1 APmode
Inthisdefault mode,thedevice workedasaconverter
betweenthewiredand wireless signalisindefault settings.
If youalready haveawiredrouterinuse,youcanchoose
wireless APmode.ConnectLANportofthedevicetothe

routerinusewithanEthernetcable(referto5-1fordetail
setup).Thenmanywireless clients(generallythewireless
networkadapter) canaccess atthesametime. Forexample,
inabighotel,connecttheRoutertothebroadbandaccess
portwiththeEthernetcableandyoucansharetheinternet
withothers.Ofcourse,yourwireless networkadaptermust
havethesameSSID,Channelwith theRouter.IftheRouter
enablesWi-Fiprotection, thewirelessnetworkadapteralso
musthavethesamesecuritymodeandkeytoaccess the
router.Common networkconnectiontopologyisasfollows.
3.2 Client+APMode

Inthismode,thedevice canreceivethewireless signal,
meanwhileamplifythesignaland extendthewireless signal
coverage.Thewireddevice canreceivethesignalviathe
Ethernetcable.Thismodeiscalledthewireless signal
universalrepeatermodewhichcanamplifythesource
signaltoenhancethesignal.
Whenyousharetheinternetwithyourneighbor,youcan
choosethismodetogetastablesignal.Inaddition,itcan
access totheIPTVset-topbox, broadbandsatellitereceiver
and suchdevices.Thismodeisverysimpleavoiding the

worksasabridge.

theWISPoutsidethehousebuttheinsideWISPAPsignal
ispoor,thedevicecanenhancethesignaland improvethe
speed.If morethanonewiredcomputeraccess,youcan
connecttheLANportofthedevice totheswitchandthe
switchtothecomputer.
