SMARTKNOB
Reliably control your camera lens with the Teradek
RT Smartknob Wired Smart Controller. Use the
included cable to connect the Smartknob to an
MK3.1 or Latitude receiver to actuate focus or iris
motors, or connect directly to a RED camera and
seamlessly operate the internal EF motors through
the camera body in Stand-alone mode.
Teradek regularly releases new firmware versions to improve performance, add new features, or to fix vulnerabilities.

Stand-Alone operation:
Connect the Smartknob controller to the camera
and power source using the included 6-pin Y cable.
POWER AND CONNECT
Accessory operation:
Connect the Smartknob controller to the LATITUDE
receiver using a 5-pin Wired Mode Cable.

NOTE: The camera serial communication setting
must be set to RCP (Redlink Command Protocol) for
the unit to operate. To change the settings on the
camera’s UI, navigate to:
•(DSMC) SETTINGS>SETUP>COMMS>SERIAL>RCP
•(DSMC2) SETTINGS>COMMS>SERIAL>RCP
NOTE: Only the Focus Knob and the record button (R)
will function in Accessory Mode.

KNOB/BUTTON CONFIGURATION
The Smart Knob buttons can be configured in the RT Firmware Manager App. Open the RTFW
App, go to Tools>Smartknob Config, and options for mapping internal DSMC functions will
appear. Below are the configuration options:
KNOB CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Focus Forward/Focus Reverse - Use the knob to focus on the image.
Iris Close/Iris Open - Open or close the iris to adjust the exposure.
BUTTON CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Record Stop - End recording.
Magnify - Enlarge the central region of the camera’s
LCD monitor.
Lens Motor Reset - Reboot the lens motor.
Exposure Check - Analyze the RAW sensor data’s
exposure levels.
Iris Close/Iris Open - Open or close the iris to adjust
the exposure.
Pre Record - Continuously capture a cache of
footage before recording starts.
Focus Check - Analyzes the video and highlights
the edges by applying a color to them.
Raw Check - Displays images unaffected by the
RGB settings.
Video Check - Check the video level of the RGB
monitor path and any outputs driven from that path,
such as HD-SDI or HDMI.
Limit Mode - Hold down assigned button, turn the
knob to whichever two points, then release. Limits
will be set to the full rotation of the knob between
the manually set points. To clear this limit, hold
down the assigned button for 3 seconds
ISO Increment/ISO Decrement - Increase or
decrease the ISO settings.
2nd function - Assign a second function to an
already configured button.
Knob Axis - Focus (forward)
R button (Red) - Record/Stop
A button (Teal) - Iris Close
B button(Teal) - Iris Open
W (Grey) - Magnify
X (Orange) - Exposure Check
Y (Orange) - Lens Motor Reset
