Thank you very much for purchasing our direct-coupled booster pump unit.
In order to use the product appropriately, do not operate, maintain, or inspect the
direct-coupled booster pump unit until you have read and fully understood this
instruction manual.
For safety purpose, observe the cautions and warnings in this instruction manual
and those on the labels affixed on the unit.
Retain this manual where it can be consulted at any time of operation,
maintenance and inspection of the direct-coupled booster pump unit.
To whom is performing the utility work:

and inspection of the direct-coupled booster pump unit.

Limited warranty
1. In the event of failure or breakage under proper use of the product during the warranty period, equipment
supplied by TERAL INC. shall be repaired or replaced free of charge within the scope of the relevant part,
provided that such failure or breakage is attributable to inadequacy of the design or workmanship of the
equipment.
2. The warranty mentioned in the above clause shall be only the mechanical warranty of the defective part,
and shall not cover any expenses or other damage arising from the failure or breakage.
3. In the event of the following failures and breakage, the costs of the repairs and consumables (i.e. parts
whose consumption or wear is expected at the beginning of purchase) shall be borne by the user.
(1) Failures and breakage attributable to equipment that was not delivered by TERAL INC.
(2) Failures and breakage after the expiration of the warranty period
(3) Failures and breakage caused by disasters or force majeure, such as fire, acts of God or earthquakes
(4) Failures and breakage resulting from repairs, disassembly or modifications made without the consent
of TERAL INC.
(5) Failures and breakage when parts other than those designated by TERAL INC. are used
(6) Failures and breakage caused by any use outside the specification limit of the equipment
4. TERAL INC. shall not be liable for any damage caused by incorrect or reckless use of the direct-
connecting booster pump unit even if such damage occurs within the warranty period. Cost and expenses
incurred for sending engineer(s) in such a case shall be borne by the user.
5. If the cause of the failure is unclear, necessary actions shall be determined through mutual consultation.
6. In order to improve performance, some parts and/or components of the product may be changed without
prior notice.
In addition, upon repairs of the product, TERAL INC. may use recycled parts that conform to our quality
standards or may use substitutes that are functionally equivalent.
Purpose of this manual / Notice to users
1. The purpose of this manual is to provide the user with detailed information necessary to operate, maintain
and inspect the direct-connecting booster pump unit (or “the unit”) properly.
This manual does not cover work that requires highly specialized knowledge (disassembly, repairs, etc.). If
the unit needs to be repaired, be sure to contact TERAL INC. or its relevant service company.
2. This manual is intended for:
xpersons experienced in the operation of water supply units, or those who have been trained by such
experienced operators
xqualified persons, such as licensed electrical engineers, for the content regarding electric wiring work
3. This manual mainly covers standard products. If you have purchased a customized product, some part of
this manual may not be applicable to your unit. In such a case, refer to other documents such as the
delivery specifications to confirm the product specifications.
4. The product specifications and information in this manual are subject to change without prior notice.
5. In the illustrations of this manual, some part of the product is omitted or simplified to make it easy to

1. Safety precautions
Before using the unit, thoroughly read this “Safety precautions” to properly use the product. Information
described below is vital to safe and proper use of the unit and prevention of hazard and/or damage.
1.1 Explanation of safety indications and graphic symbols
This instruction manual divides safety indications into four categories according to the level of hazard
(the extent of damage/losses and the urgency). In addition, the type of user instructions is indicated
with a graphic symbol.
This manual uses the following signs. Fully understand these terms and symbols before reading this
manual further.

1.2 Safety precautions
The following are important instructions about safety. Be sure to observe these precautions.
Danger
Once the main power is turned on, do not touch any live parts inside or outside the control panel.
A high voltage applied to live parts causes a serious electric shock.

Properly move the unit according to lifting
instructions.
Otherwise, the unit may fall, resulting in injury and/or
damage.
Do not carry out any work by/on the water supply
unit that is being lifted.
Otherwise, the unit may fall, resulting in injury and/or
damage.
Only those who are authorized by the site
manager may operate the direct-connecting
booster pump unit.
Operation by unskilled personnel may lead to an unforeseen
accident.
Only those who are trained to handle the water
supply unit may install, maintain, and inspect it.
Operation by unskilled personnel may lead to an unforeseen
accident.
Only qualified personnel, such as licensed
electrical engineers, are allowed to carry out any
electric work.
Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, fire, failures,
and/or other problems.
Use the wiring equipment and devices compliant
with the use conditions, and carry out wiring work
safely and securely according to the technical
standards for electrical facilities, as well as the
indoor wiring regulations.
Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, fire, and/or other
problems.
Before starting wiring work, be sure to turn off the
main power and confirm that the pilot lamp is
turned off. Take measures to prevent erroneous
power supply.

At the power supply source, be sure to install a
ground fault interrupter dedicated to this unit.

maintenance/inspection work, ensure that all the
relevant workers are informed of the operation
and that there are no workers in the dangerous
zone around the unit.

Before rotating the pump shaft by hand to check
its smooth rotation, be sure to disconnect the main
power supply.
Otherwise, it may lead to injury and/or damage.
After turning on the power, do not touch any parts
of the water supply unit other than those required
for operation.
Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, injury, and/or
other problems.
Ensure to store the control panel during trial
operation.
Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, damage, and/or
fires.
Ensure to keep the cover of the cabinet closed
during operation.
Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, fire, and/or other
problems.
Do not put your fingers or foreign objects into any
openings or rotating part of the motor during
operation.
Otherwise, it may lead to injury and/or damage.
Do not perform shutoff operation for more than
one minute continuously.
Otherwise, the temperature and pressure will increase
inside the pump, which may damage the pump and/or cause
steam to blow off.
Do not operate the unit if abnormal condition is
observed in any actions and movement or in any
parts, components, and others.
Otherwise, it may lead to injury, failures and/or various
accidents.
If you need to carry out work that requires
disassembly of the unit—such as replacement of
parts, repairs, or inspection, ask the vendor or the
service center specified by TERAL INC..
If unskilled personnel carry out the work that requires
special knowledge, it may lead to an accident and/or
failures.
Caution
Do not use the unit outside the range of the
product specifications.
It may cause an electric shock, fire, w ater leak, and/or
failure.
Do not connect the unit to any power voltage other
than the specifications.
Using wrong power voltage may damage the control panel.
Attach a grommet to the line inlet port to protect
the wires, or use a conduit tube.
Otherwise, failure may occur.
Do not use the unit for the transportation of
demineralized water.
It may be contaminated by impurities.
When unpacking, pay attention to nails and any
other problems with the packing material.
Otherwise, injury and/or physical damage may occur.
For the installation environment of the direct-
coupled booster pump unit, strictly observe the
installation instructions in this manual.
Otherwise, early stage failure may occur.
Apply water-proof treatment and provide drainage
onto the floor at the installation place of the direct-
coupled booster pump unit.
Otherwise, serious damage may occur when a w ater leak
occurs.
Do not apply hydraulic-test pressure on the piping
side to the direct-coupled booster pump unit.
It may damage the equipment.
Do not use any piping material that forms rust.
It may damage the unit.
Prevent any air trap from being formed in the
piping.
Otherwise, normal operation may be disturbed.
Do not install power lines and control lines in
parallel with other lines.
It may cause the malfunction of this product and other
equipment.
Prevent the control panel and motor from being
splashed with water.
Otherwise, an electric shock, electric leak, and/or failure
may occur.
Carefully perform each operation.
Otherwise, injury and/or physical damage may occur.

Caution
Properly make each setting of the control panel
depending on the conditions of use.
Otherwise, it may hinder the normal operation.
Do not idle the pump (operation without priming).
Otherwise, it may cause damage to the sliding part inside
the pump.
Before operation, thoroughly clean (flush) the
inside of the piping.
Otherwise, the piping system may be c ontaminat ed with
foreign matter, thus leading to an accident or a pump failure.
Do not touch the motor body or the cooling fins for
the control panel while the unit is running or
immediately after the unit has stopped.
Otherwise, you may get burns from the hot surface.
Do not cover the motor or the control panel with
cloths or other objects.
Otherwise, it may lead to overheat and/or ignition.
Do not place anything on the booster unit or do
not step on the unit.
Otherwise, it may lead to injury and/or damage.
In the event of an error or abnormal condition that
cannot be resolved, immediately contact us or the
service provider.
Otherwise, it may lead to an accident.
Ensure to carry out inspection according to the
maintenance checklist.
Otherwise, you cannot prevent potential failures, thus
leading to a higher risk of accidents.
Replace the packing and O-rings during
inspection involving disassembly.
Otherwise, it may lead to water leakage.
Before disassembling discharge pressured water
from the pump and the piping.
Otherwise, water may spurt out, thus leading to an accident.
Do not perform an insulation resistance test on
the control panel. (Before performing an insulation
resistance test on the motor, disconnect electric
wires and cables from the control panel.)
Otherwise, it may damage the control panel.
If you do not use the unit for a long time, turn off
the power, drain water from the inside, and then
store the unit.
Otherwise, it may lead to insulation degradation, freeze
cracking, and/or other problems.
Do not apply commercial power directly to the
motor.
Failure to observe this may cause damage to the motor,
Do not fit an advance phase capacitor to the
secondary wiring in the control panel.
Failure to observe this may damage the unit.
When using the parallel type backflow preventer,
the backflow preventer for inspection should be
always opened.
This will prevent the retention of water.

2. Before using the water supply unit
Make sure that the delivered package is placed right-side up before
unpacking. Pay special attention to nails especially when opening a
wooden crate or you may get injured.
After unpacking, ask the vendor to dispose of packaging materials that
are no longer necessary.
2.1 Points to be checked
When you receive the water supply unit, check the following points immediately after unpacking.
(1) Check the nameplate to verify that the delivered product is exactly what you ordered.
(1) Check that no part of the unit has been damaged during transportation.
(2) Check all fastening parts including bolts and nuts are securely tightened.
(3) Check all the accessories that you ordered have been completely delivered.

3. Configuration and overview of the water supply unit
This chapter describes standard specifications of the water supply unit. If you have purchased a
customized product, some information in this chapter may not be applicable to your unit. Refer to the
separately supplied delivery specifications and other documents to check the product specifications in
such a case.

3.2 Name and function of each part
3.2.1 Name and function of water supply unit components
ĬControl panel
The control panel controls the pump and supplies the power to the motor.
It enables to start/stop the pump, detects the operating status of the pump and automatically
switches the No. of the pump to run.
It also controls the pump variably using the signal from the pressure transmitter to perform an
estimated terminal pressure constant control operation.
ĭPump
By rotating the impeller with the motor, the pump produces pressure to deliver water.
ĮSuction pressure transmitter
The suction pressure transmitter converts suction pressure into electric signals.
įDischarge pressure transmitter
The discharge pressure transmitter converts discharge pressure into electric signals.
İPressure tank
The pressure tank maintains the pressure in the piping and reduces the number of start/stop and
pressure fluctuations of the pump.
ıFlow switch
The flow switch outputs a signal to stop the pump when the water flow rate is not higher than the
setup (stop) flow rate.
IJHigh temperature sensor
The high temperature sensor outputs a signal to stop the pump when the water temperature is
higher than the set value due to zero-discharge operation.
ijValve unit
The suction/discharge valve and check valve (bypass section) of the pump are integrated, and the
suction/discharge valve can be opened and closed simultaneously by one operation. For details,
refer to "3.2. 2 Function of valve unit".

ĵBy-pass pipe
The buffer check valve is incorporated. When the pressure in water pipe is higher than the set
value, the pump is stopped and the water is supplied through the bypass pipe.
ĶTJ valve
This is a three-way valve used to discharge water inside the pressure tank when you carry out the
maintenance of the pressure tank.
ķReduced pressure backflow preventer
This is used to prevent the backflow to the water pipe. Depending on the installation conditions, it
may be installed on the discharge side of the unit.
ĸStrainer
The strainer restrains the inflow of the foreign substances that adversely affect the backflow
prevention device and pump.
ĹSuction side water stop valve
This is used when you carry out the maintenance.
ĺDischarge side water stop valve
This is used when you carry out the maintenance.
ĻVibration isolation rubber
The vibration isolation rubber reduces vibration propagation during pump operation.
ļFall prevention support metal
This is used to lift the unit and to prevent it from falling.

3.2.2 Function of valve unit
Be sure to set the valves for all the pumps to "Open" when the unit is in
operation. Operating a pump with the valve set to "Close" may not only
disturb normal operation, but also increase the water temperature in the
pump because of zero-discharge operation, causing a burst of steam and/or
hot water from the pump.
The opening/closing operation procedure is different between the valves for
the pumps No.1 and No.2; therefore, be sure to perform operation after
checking the figure below.
When viewed from the front, the valve shaft on the left is for the pump No.1, and the valve shaft on the
right is for the pump No.2. The head of the valve shaft has a hexagonal shape, which can be
opened/closed using a general-purpose tool with a width across flat of 17 mm. The valves on the
suction side and discharge side of the pump are opened/closed simultaneously by the valve shaft
operation.
This valve can be used only in a "Fully open" or "Fully closed" state.
Note that using in the intermediate opening position may not only prevent
the valve from functioning, but also cause various types of faults.

3.2.3 Name and function of operation panel
ĬDisplay
The display is to display information about the pump unit. ( 䋻Refer to 7.2.)
ĭPower supply indicator lamp
The lamp is lit when the power supply is turned on.
It blinks when the pump unit is in the inspection mode. ( 䋻Refer to 8.2.)
ĮOperation mode indicator lamp
The lamp is to display the operation mode currently selected.
It blinks when the pump unit is running. ( 䋻Refer to 7.1.)
įOperation selector button
The button is to change the operation mode of the pump unit.
İError indicator lamp
The lamp blinks when an error occurs.
ıBuzzer stop / reset button
The button is used to stop the buzzer while an error occurs.
After resolving the cause of the error, you can cancel the error by pressing and holding the button.
IJMenu button
The button is used to move to the menu screen. ( 䋻Refer to 7.4.)
ijEnter button
The button is used as “Enter” in the menu screen and each item screen.
Operation and stop of the pump unit can be changed while manual operation is selected.
ĴBack button
The button is used to change display in home screen
It is used as “Back” in menu screen and each item screen.

It is also used to change the set value.

kgf/cm2). Select the devices that satisfy the condition: "Maximum operating pressure Boost

4. Installation
4.1 Cautions on installation
Check the weight of the unit, referring to the catalog, assembly drawing, etc.
before lifting, and then lift the unit appropriately within the rated lifting load of
the lifting sling. Otherwise, drop, injury and/or physical damage may occur.
Lifting with a lifting sling hooked on a wooden frame may damage the
wooden frame. Be sure to lift the support bracket for lifting.
For the installation environment, observe the following requirements.
Otherwise, a fault and/or failure may occur. In addition, it may shorten the life
span of the unit.
Take appropriate measures for the gap at the lead-out part of the piping and
wiring as well as at the bottom of the pump unit; and install an insect screen
to the backflow preventer drain piping to prevent any insects or animals from
entering the pump unit. The intrusion of any insects or animals may cause a
fault and/or failure.
4.1.1 Installation of water supply unit
(1) Install the unit in a place where the following conditions are satisfied.
- Any place where "3.1 Specifications of water supply unit" is fulfilled.
- Any place where the unit is not directly exposed to the rain or wind. Although this direct-
connecting booster pump unit is for both indoor and outdoor installation, install it preferably in a
place where it is not exposed to the rain or water when it is installed outdoors.
- Any place where the unit is not directly exposed to the sunlight.
- Any place with good ventilation, and less dust and humidity.
- Any place where unauthorized persons cannot easily access and operate.
- Any place where the unit can easily be inspected, and any drain failure and/or operation failure
can easily be handled.
(2) Fix the direct-connecting booster pump unit firmly on a horizontal concrete foundation with anchor
bolts.
(3) Be sure to provide a gutter for drain around the direct-connecting booster pump unit, and apply
waterproof treatment onto the floor.
(4) When the unit may freeze in winter, be sure to take anti-freezing measures to the pump chamber,
pump, valve, piping, pressure transmitter, pressure tank, etc. Freeze-proof specifications are
available as a special option. Feel free to contact us.
(5) As a maintenance space, provide a space of 600 mm or more in front of the unit, and 200 mm or
more on the side and top of the unit. For the maintenance space, refer to "Fig. 4-2-1 (a) Example
of piping installation".
(6) When lifting the direct-connecting
booster pump unit, be sure to use the
two support brackets for lifting, as well as
ropes. Set the lifting angle to 90 degrees
or less.

4.1.2 Backflow preventer
(1) It is necessary to provide the reduced pressure backflow preventer with open piping to receive the
drain from the relief valve. The drain piping shall be inclined so that water can be discharged by
gravity flow, being equipped with a specified space at the discharge port. For the examples of the
drain piping installation, refer to "4.2.2 Drain piping of backflow preventer".
(2) Provide a maintenance space around the direct-connecting booster pump unit so that the backflow
preventer can easily be inspected. For the maintenance space, refer to "Fig. 4-2-1 (a) Example of
piping installation".
(3) When the unit may freeze in winter, be sure to take anti-freezing measures.
(4) Clean sufficiently the inside of the piping by passing water, before installation of various
instruments.
Install the drain piping of the backflow preventer, while ensuring a space
(dimension d) at the discharge port without fail.
The backflow preventer requires periodical inspections (at least once a
year). The inspection shall be performed using the test cock.

4.2 Cautions on piping work
Do not use any piping material that forms rust. It may cause the
failure of the direct-couples booster pump unit.
Do not apply hydraulic-test pressure on the piping side to the direct-
connecting booster pump unit. It may damage the equipment.
Provide a pipe support which is strong enough to prevent the piping
load from being applied to the direct-connecting booster pump unit.
Sufficiently clean the inside of the suction piping by flushing, before
passing water through the direct-connecting booster pump unit.
Prevent any air lock from being formed in the piping. Any air lock
formed in the piping may disturb normal operation.
(1) Provide a pipe support which is strong enough to prevent the piping load from being applied to the
direct-connecting booster pump unit.
(2) Provide the discharge piping with a sluice valve and piping for testing, for commissioning and
adjustment.
(3) The suction piping shall be as short as possible with minimum bends.
(4) Be sure to provide the suction piping with a sluice valve.
(5) When the unit may freeze in winter, be sure to take anti-freezing measures, by wrapping it with
cold protection material, etc.
(6) When feed water pressure tends to be too high—for example, because the site is located on a low
floor, reduce the pressure as needed.
(7) Prevent any air lock from being formed in the piping.
(8) This direct-connecting booster pump unit is subjected to a hydraulic pressure test in the factory
before shipment. Note that the direct-connecting booster pump unit is equipped with equipment
which may be damaged when the test pressure is applied (pressure detection system, pressure
tank, etc.); therefore, do not apply hydraulic-test pressure to the direct-connecting booster pump
unit when a hydraulic pressure test is performed during piping work.
It is recommended to use a vibration-proof joint for the suction and
discharge joints of the direct-connecting booster pump unit.
4.2.1 Example of piping installation
Carry out piping work according to the example of piping installation (Fig. 4-2-1 (a)) and piping
installation pattern (Fig. 4-2-1 (b)) on the next page. Carry out the piping work of the drain piping of the
backflow preventer, referring to "4.2.2 Drain piping of backflow preventer".
