There is a two-year warranty on equipment
and labour, starting from the date of pur-
chase, with the exception of damage caused
by incorrect use or electrical or mechani-
cal overload. An original copy of our invoice
is required as the warranty document. This

transferred to the purchaser, providing
that the original proof of purchase is also
transferred.

Teufel provides an eight-week right of ex-
change or return with reimbursement of
the full purchase price paid.
The return of individual components from
a set is only possible if these components
are also offered for sale separately by Laut-
sprecher Teufel. If one or more components
are returned, any price discount given by
Lautsprecher Teufel on all components
in a set as part of the price for the set
is waived. For the components returned,
customers shall therefore be refunded
only the difference between the set price
and the purchase price of the individual
components that they retain. The financial
outcome for customers is as if they had
bought the remaining components at the
individual price from the outset.

Please read the
following safety
information carefully.
Risk of suffocation – keep
packaging materials(e.g.
the plastic film) out of
the reach and sight of
children.
Risk of electrocution – do
not leave children unsu-
pervised with electrical
appliances!
In case of emergency
If any of the following
occur, disconnect the
appliance from the
mains and consult our
technicians:
4If the plug or cable
are damaged
4If foreign bodies or
liquid have entered the
appliance
4If the appliance has
been in direct contact
with rain or other water
4If the appliance does
not play, even though
you have followed the
operating instructions
4If the appliance has
been dropped or dama-
ged in some other way.
We cannot accept any re-
sponsibility for incidents
that occur because
safety information has
not been adhered to.
Important: Please read through these operating instructions
very carefully. It is essential that you take note of all of the sa-
fety information and operating instructions before switching on
the appliance. Please keep these operating instructions in a safe
place for future reference.
Important: Please read the operating instructions. You should
also follow all instructions for start-up and ongoing use.
Information on cleaning: Please do not attempt to clean the
appliance using household chemicals because they could damage
its surface. Simply use a dry cloth. Disconnect the appliance from
the mains before cleaning.
Caution - moisture and sunlight: Ensure that the appliance
does not come into contact with moisture! You should also pro-
tect the device against excessively high air humidity by not using
it in damp areas, e.g. in damp cellars; also avoid any use near wet
areas such as bathtubs, showers, washbasins, drains or swimming
pools etc. Direct sunlight should also be avoided! Do not expose
device to dripping or splashing water. Do not place objects filled
with liquids, such as vases on the device.
Information on location: Do not use the appliance unsecured
in vehicles, in unstable places, on wobbly tripods or furniture or
supports that are too small. The speakers could fall and cause da-
mage to people, including yourself. Speakers, particularly if posi-
tioned on stands or on the TV/monitor, may fall and cause damage
due to their weight, even if they have been positioned securely
and stably, as a result of external influences(pulling on the cable,
tripping over the cable, unintentional physical contact). This also
applies to wall supports that have been attached inappropriate-
ly or incorrectly to walls that may not be capable of supporting
their weight. Only use suitable wall brackets for mounting. Make
sure that you know how much weight the walls can bear. The ap-
pliance must not be placed near sources of heat. This includes
radiators and heaters, ovens and other appliances that emit heat
(e.g. amplifiers). Sources of heat, such as fan heaters or candles,
should not be placed on the speakers.
For ventilation: Slits and openings in the case have been pro-
vided for ventilation. Their purpose is to guarantee reliable
operation and to prevent the appliance from overheating. These
openings must not be blocked or covered, including by placing
the appliance on a bed, sofa, carpet or other soft surface. Do not
place any newspapers or table cloths, etc. on the appliance. The
cooling plate of the amplifier electronics must not be covered or
exposed to direct sunlight. Additional active cooling of the appli-
ance is generally not permitted.
Information about electricity supply: The subwoofer must
only be supplied from a power source with the correct voltage
as specified on the identification label. If you are unsure about
the electricity supply in your home, please contact us or your
electricity supplier for more information. The appliance does not
need to be earthed. Please only use the appropriate mains cable
for connecting to the mains socket. This mains cable must not be
modified under any circumstances. Regulations on polarity and
earth connection must be adhered to. Use only an appropriate
mains plug for receiving the mains cable.
Make sure the power
switch is in the »off« position before connecting or disconnect-
ing the device.
Information on wiring: Please place the power cord flat and
flush to the wall and floor. Cables that are laid loosely represent a
risk of tripping. This could also result in interference and cause
the sound to be disrupted. The electricity supply cable should be
laid so that it is not likely to be stepped on or squashed from
the sides or above by heavy objects. Damaged cables must be
replaced. Pay particular attention to the cable/plug connection,
the mains socket and the cable output from the subwoofer. The
power supply cable and the cables that connect the speakers
should be checked regularly for insulation faults or breaks. If a
fault is discovered, the appliance and the cabling must be dis-
connected from the mains immediately and the defective cable
must be replaced.
During periods without use: Remove the subwoofer’s power
supply cable from the socket for longer periods of absence or
non-use.
During thunderstorms: In order to avoid damage caused by
lightning strikes, the appliance should be switched off and also
unplugged from the mains socket as soon as a thunderstorm is
expected.
Risk of overload: You should not overload wall sockets, extension
cables or integrated appliance sockets, because this could poten-
tially lead to short circuits and even fires. You should also avoid
turning up the volume very high(= approx. three quarters of the
control range) on the relevant amplifier, especially if you have in-
creased the bass using the bass control, the volume button or one
of the deep bass boost switches.
Foreign bodies and liquids: Foreign bodies and liquids must not
get into the appliance via its openings under any circumstances,
as they could come into contact with parts carrying high vol-
tages, which could then cause short circuits and fires. Therefore,
do not spill liquids of any kind on the appliance.
Troubleshooting: Do not attempt to repair the appliance your-
self. Contact our service department first for authorisation, if
you think that you can repair the fault yourself. Otherwise, the
appliance must be sent to our service department.
Transport: The appliance should be transported using a hand
truck. Great care must be taken during transport. Please note
that uneven surfaces, sudden stopping or inappropriate exertion
of force may cause the hand truck and the load to fall over.
Information on spare parts: Lautsprecher Teufel will provide
you with spare parts during the warranty period. Your warranty
will not be invalidated if you replace the parts yourself on-site
using Lautsprecher Teufel spare parts.
Unusual sounds: If any unusual sounds occur during use or the
sound becomes distorted, the speaker output must be reduced
immediately so that the system plays an undistorted sound.
Connecting and changing the fuse: Disconnect the mains plug.
A faulty fuse should only be changed for one of the same type.
Information on volume: Loud noises can damage hearing.
Sudden high sound pressure may be created, particularly if a
“subwoofer” in “Standby/Auto On” mode is switched on by a bass
impulse at full volume. In addition to physical damage, please be
aware of possible psychological consequences. Children and pets
require particular care. If necessary, set the volume control of
your signal source appliance to the lowest level. At high volumes,
always keep a certain distance from the appliance and never
have your ears right next to the speaker.

Main functions
“Master” and “slave” loudspeakers
iTeufel®Box consists of two loudspeakers.
The speaker with the iPod connection ful-
fils additional functions as your controller,
left speaker and stereo amplifier with all
necessary peripheral connections.
1. Switching on/off
Press the rear POWER switch (1), to switch
the system on. The operating status is
shown on the front by a blue LED. To switch
off, press the same switch.
2. Volume
The volume of the connected iPod is set
by means of the VOL UP/VOL DOWN remote
control buttons (see page 10). The rear vol-
ume control(2) regulates the volume of the
two AUX IN(3) and LINE IN(4) inputs.
3. Playback
You can play a track straight from your iPod
as usual. For increased convenience, Laut-
sprecher Teufel supplies you with a suit-
able remote control for the iTeufel®Box.
It takes over some of the most important
functions of your iPod and enables you to
control these easily and comfortably from
a distance.
You can find more information on this topic
on page 10.
4. Playback from iPod
Choose the correct adapter for your iPod
(see page 6) and switch on the power sup-
ply for the speaker system. Now place the
iPod in the selected adaptor.
4.1. Provided your iTeufel®Box is switched
on, you can now control the playback and
select functions on your iPod or via the re-
mote control.
4.2. For navigating and for selecting in-
dividual menu items, use the iPod click-
wheel or the correct remote control keys,
as usual.
4.3. Using the “RW/PREVIOUS” or “FF/NEXT”
remote control buttons, you can skip be-
tween the individual tracks or switch to
fast forward or fast rewind.
4.4. The “PLAY/PAUSE” button on the re-
mote control can be used in exactly the
same way as the play/pause button on
your iPod. Press this button once to start
playback and again to stop playback. If you
hold the button down, the iPod switches to
standby mode and the charging process
starts.
5. Playback from external devices
The iTeufel®Box has two inputs for con-
necting to external appliances. This allows
you to play back music not only from MP3
players and portable CD players but also
from an Apple AirPort Express.
5.1. To connect to the external device out-
put, please use a adapter cable (mini-jack
to 2 x cinch)which you connect to the“LINE
IN” input (4). You can, of course, also con-
nect a normal CD player using conventional
cinch cables Via the “AUX IN”(3) inputs, you
can even connect a second external device
using a commercially available adapter ca-
ble – for example, the output of an Apple
AirPort Express to create a wireless con-
nection to your Mac.
*The fuse should only
be changed for one of
equivalent type.
**The appliance may be
operated only at the
accepted local voltage,
for example, 230V in
Germany.
Note
Switch your system
off before connecting
cables.
Note
The remote control
device controls only the
iPod volume and not
the alternative sound
sources.
Charging function
The iTeufel®Box charges
your iPod automatically.
You must, however, con-
nect your iPod using the
iTeufel®interface. The
“LINE IN” input cannot
be used for charging.
Operating the iTeufel®Box

10 · iTeufel®Box
5.2. iPod input and the two external inputs
are enabled simultaneously. We are assum-
ing that you will only wish to have one ac-
tive sound source. In this case, just switch
off the other devices; otherwise you will
hear several signals simultaneously. Alter-
natively, you can tune out the external in-
puts with the rear volume control(2).
6. Mute
The system has a mute function to tem-
porarily switch off the speakers. Press
the MUTE button on the remote control.
This switches off the sound. To cancel the
mute function again, press the MUTE but-
ton again. This function works only for the
iPod interface and not for the externally
connected sound sources.
7. Rear USB interface
You will find a USB port (5) on the rear of
your active iTeufel®Box loudspeaker. Us-
ing a USB cable, you can connect directly
to your computer’s USB port from here,
without removing the iPod from the holder.
You can also leave your iPod conveniently in
its position and still have complete control
over iTunes.
8. S-video output*
Some iPod models are able to play back
photos or films. Use the S-Video socket (6)
on the rear of your active iTeufel®Box to
tap this image signal and relay it to a con-
ventional television set. For this purpose,
use a S-Video cable. If your television set
does not have an S-Video port, visit your
local specialist audio/video shop for a suit-
able adaptor for SCART/EURO.
*Note:
Because of new software
updates from the iPod
manufacturer, Apple, the
S-video output might
not work with your iPod
model. For more detailed,
up-to-date information
please visit our website
www.teufel.eu or
www.apple.com.

plied. The drive functions are related to
those of an iPod.
BACKLIGHT: Switches the iPod background
lighting on and off.
MUTE: Mutes the speakers
REPEAT: Set the iPod to “Repeat one”(re-
peating one track)/“Repeat all”/“No re-
peat” and “Return”
VOLUME +/VOLUME -: Volume
SHUFFLE: Switches the random playback of
the iPod tracks on and off.
REW/PREVIOUS and FORWARD/NEXT:
Jumps to the start of the track/previous
track or to the next track. If held down for
longer, the device cues forward or back-
wards until the button is pressed again.
PLAY/PAUSE: Plays or pauses the iPod

Changing the batteries
When inserting batteries, ensure that the
“+” and “–” poles exactly match the “+”
and “–” positions of the battery compart-
ment.
Note
Do not drop the remote
control or step on it. This
can result in damage that
will cause the remote
control to stop working.
Please note
If the remote control is
going to be out of use
for a long period, please
remove the batteries to
prevent leakage.
Tip
Do not expose the remo-
te control to unnecessary
extra light. Do not use
the iTeufel®Box remote
control at the same time
as other remote controls.
Remote control

12 · iTeufel®Box
The iTeufel®Box does not play
Firstly check whether the blue power lamp on
the front of the “master” speaker is illuminat-
ed. Check whether the power cord is attached
to the speaker and the socket and whether the
rear power switch is in the “On” position.
Also check whether the “slave” speaker has
been properly connected(see page 7).
Now test your iPod headphone output, using a
adapter cable (mini-jack to 2 x cinch), by con-
necting it to the “LINE IN” input. First adjust
the rear volume control to the lowest position
and turn it up slowly after the iPod has been
connected. If you still do not hear any sound,
even though you can hear with headphones
connected directly to the iPod, this indicates
a fault in the internal amplifier. Please contact
our service department.
The iTeufel®Box buzzes
Buzzing noises may be produced by con-
nected appliances or faults in the power
network. Excessive buzzing is usually
caused by one of the following:
1. The iTeufel®Box is connected to a dif-
ferent power circuit from that to which
the other external devices are connected.
Ensure that all linked appliances(including
the PC/Mac, if applicable) are connected to
a single power circuit or socket. Test the
system by operating it without “AUX IN”
and “LINE IN”.
2. A separately purchased mains filter, to
which all appliances must be connected,
may be useful in eliminating the buzzing.
Please negotiate a right to return for the
filter, in case it does not lead to positive
results.
3. Occasionally, a multiple socket strip
proves to be responsible for creating
buzzing noises. To test this, disconnect
the socket strip and plug the iTeufel®Box
mains plug straight into a wall socket.
4. You can also try turning the mains plug
around and inserting it into the socket the
other way up, inasmuch as your mains plug/
socket allows this.
5. To pinpoint the source of the buzz-
ing more accurately, check whether the
iTeufel®Box works without buzzing with a
different electricity supply in a different
room(e.g. using an extension lead).
Cleaning
To make sure you are able to enjoy your
product from Lautsprecher Teufel for a
long time, please note the following tips:
Do not expose the casing to direct sunlight.
Avoid extreme temperature differences
and protect your products from moisture.
Only use a lightly dampened or dry cloth to
clean the membranes. Abrasive cleaners
and products that contain alcohol should
be avoided.
