GETTING STARTED 8
• Your Tevion® aged care phone was shipped from our factory in good working
order. Should the packing or telephone be damaged, wet or malfunctioning in any
way, please immediately contact the service centre for replacement or repair.
• Carefully unpack your Tevion® aged care phone. Ensure that you do not discard
any supplied packaging material until all components of the telephone have been
accounted for.
• Carefully wipe the exterior of the telephone with a damp cloth to remove any
dust that may have accumulated. Dry with a dry towel. Do not use abrasive
cleaners.
WARNING: Never immerse the telephone in water or any other liquids when cleaning.
SETTING UP
Wall mount installation
The unit can be mounted on a wall.To use as a wall mounted phone, you must use the
included wall mount adaptor (Box shape).
• Attach the wall mount adaptor into the middle part of the phone base.
• Fit the wall mount adaptor into the three plugs securely.
• Mount the unit onto the wall, aligning the upper and lower wall mounting slots
with the screws located on the wall, then press down until secure.
• Check that there are no electrical wires hidden inside the wall.
• Mark the wall at the two fixing points.The marks should be 102 mm apart.
• Drill holes in the wall at the points you have marked.
• Insert the plugs to the holes if necessary. Fit the screws into the plugs. Leave about
5-7mm between the wall and the underside of the screw heads.
• Hang the telephone on the screws so it fits securely and does not wobble.

Installation of the batteries
Warning - Disconnect the line cord from the wall socket before inserting or changing
batteries.
• Open the battery cover located under the unit and insert four AAA batteries (not
supplied). Please note the correct positioning (+ and -).
• Insert one end of coil cord into the handset and the other end into the base of the
unit.
• Insert the telephone wall plug into the telephone wall socket.
• Plug the telephone line cord to the line socket.The LCD shows
01-01 00-00, and the cursor “–”between Hour and Minute is flashing.

Battery precautions
Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device:
1. Use only 1.5Volt “LR03”or “AAA” batteries (not supplied).
2. Before installing or replacing any batteries please ensure that the telephone line
cord has been removed.
3. Be sure to install the batteries in the correct position (+ and -). Reversed batteries
may cause damage to the device.
4. If the device is to be inactive for a long period of time, please remove all batteries
to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
5. Never attempt to recharge batteries which are not intended to be recharged; they
will overheat and may explode.
This section has been designed to provide a reference guide to help set up your Caller
ID Aged Care Phone with emeregeny phone numbers.
Setting mode
After installing the batteries, please go to the setting mode.There are four settings that
can be adjusted, including real time clock, LCD contrast, area code, and local dial pre-fix
number setting modes.
Pick up the handset and press and hold the Down key 3 seconds to enter the real time
clock setting mode.

Setting the Real Time Clock setting
LCD shows 01-01 01-00 and the first digit of the Date is flashing.

Enter the real time by using the numeric keypad. Input the real time clock in 24 HOUR
format. Press Dial key to confirm and enter LCD contrast setting mode. Press Flash key
to exit setting (if needed).
Remark: If you have subscribed to the Caller ID service (FSK mode), your telephone
service provider will send the updated date/time together with the telephone number
to the telephone unit, and date/time will be set automatically.
LCD Contrast setting
The LCD shows Cont 3.

* The default LCD contrast is set as 3.
Press number keys from 0-6 to set LCD contrast level. The LCD sharpness will increase
from 0-6. Press Dial key to confirm and enter area code setting mode. Press Flash key to
exit setting (if needed).
Attention:
The back up time for LCD contrast and Real time clock setting is 1 hour only if the
battery runs out. But the time clock will stop when the power runs out.
Please insert new batteries when the Low Battery indicator is shown on the
display.

Receiving a call
Whenever the phone rings, pick up the handset and use it as you would with a standard
telephone.
Making a phone call
Pickup the handset, listen for a dial tone, and enter the phone number you wish to dial
on the keypad.
Ending a call
When you finish your conversation, return the handset to the cradle, or press the Hook
Switch button.
Flash function
If the line you are dialing is busy, you may push the Flash button to cut off the line in
order to dial another number or use other functions.
Mute function
To prevent the other party on the phone line from hearing the sound at your end, you
can press the Del/Mute key to activate the mute function.When you want to resume
the conversation, press the Del/Mute key again.
Redialing the last number dial
Press H/F key or pick up the handset, you will hear the dial tone.Press Redial key, the
number you last called is dialed automatically without having re-enter the number.
Redial one of the last redial numbers
Press Redial.The number you last called appears on the display. If you would like to
dial one of the last 5 numbers dialed, press Redial continuously to scroll and view the
numbers. Pick up the handset or press H/F key to automatically dial this number.
The unit returns to stand-by mode 15 seconds after pressing the Redial key.
Pause function
If you would like to pause in the middle of dialing a number, press the Redial key.You
can also use this function while storing a number on the phone.

Setting Ringer Volume
Set Ringer Volume switch to the Hi (High) or Lo (Low) position to adjust the volume of
the ringer. Set the Ringer switch to Off to turn off the ringer.
Handsfree Volume
Slide the H/F Volume switch to set the volume of the handsfree function.
Receiver Volume
Slide the H/S Receiver Volume switch to set the volume of the receiver.
Low Battery Alert
When the batteries are exhausted, the Battery Low icon will display to indicate
battery replacement.
Flash Time (100ms/300ms)
Adjust the flash time by sliding the Flash Select switch to either in the 100ms or 300ms
position.
Call Duration indicator on the display
After the call is connected, the call duration appears on the display (minutes-seconds),
e.g. 01-35 for 1 minutes and 35 seconds.
Handsfree function
This function allows you to communicate without having to pick up the handset.
When you are on the phone, press the H/F key. Press the same button to deactivate the
handsfree function.When the handsfree function is in operation, the symbol will
appear on the LCD display.
Note: When you are making a call in handsfree mode and you want to change the
volume, adjust the H/F Volume switch.
MEMORY SETTING
Save a telephone number into Direct Memory (M1 and M2)/ Indirect Memory
(0-9)/ Pre 1 or/Pre 2 no.
Press the Store key, the LCD Symbol will appear .

Enter the phone number by using the number keys (press Redial to insert a
pause if needed).You can put up to 24 digits. Press Store again. Press either the Direct
Memory key (M1or M2), Pre 1 button key, or Pre 2 button key to store the number.
You can also press the indirect memory location number between 0 and 9, under which
you can store the number.
After the number has been stored, the unit will revert back to the Real time clock.
DIALING OUT FROM MEMORY
To Dial Direct Memory (M1 and M2)/Indirect Memory ( 0-9)/ Pre 1 no/ Pre 2 no.
To dial a Direct Memory (One Touch memory)
Lift the handset or press H/F key and wait for the dial tone. Press the memory location
number (M1, M2) under which the desired number is stored.The telephone number is
displayed and dialed automatically.
To dial Indirect Memory (Two Touch memory)
Lift the handset or press H/F key and wait for the dial tone. Press the Mem key and
enter the memory location number between 0 and 9 under which the number is stored.
The telephone number is displayed and dialed automatically.
To dial out Pre 1 number & Pre 2 number in Off hook status
In Off hook status, for direct dial out pre-set numbers.
Lift the handset or press H/F key and wait for the dial tone. Press Pre-set local call /Pre-
set long-distance call button. Press your designated telephone numbers.
In Off hook status, to dial out pre-set numbers from Caller ID list
Press Up & Down key to select your designated telephone number from the Caller ID
list. Press Pre-set local call button or Pre-set long-distance call button.Then the unit will
dial out the pre-set number + 1 seconds pause + Caller ID number.
In Off hook status Direct/Indirect Memory dial out.
Lift the handset or press H/F key and wait for the dial tone. Press Pre 1 / Pre 2 button.
Press the Direct Memory button (M1or M2) to dial out the pre-set number + direct
memory number.
You can also press the Mem key and enter the memory location number between
0 and 9 under which the number is stored, in order to dial out the pre-set number +
indirect memory number.

To dial out Pre 1 and Pre 2 number in On hook status
Pre-dialing number dial out.
Hang up the phone. Press your designated telephone numbers.The numbers will be
shown on the LCD screen. Press Pre 1 call button or Pre 2 button.Then the unit will turn
on the speakerphone automatically and dial out pre-set number + 1 second pause +
entered numbers.
To dial out Pre 1 call and Pre 2 number from Caller ID list in On hook status
Hang up the phone. Press Up & Down key to select your designated telephone number
from the Caller ID list. Press Pre 1 button or Pre 2 button.Then the unit will turn on
speaker phone automatically and dial out the Prefix number + 1 second pause + Caller
ID number.
To dial out Pre 1 and Pre 2 number from Direct/Indirect Memory in On hook
status
Hang up the phone. Press the M1 or M2 Direct Memory key.
Or press the Mem key and enter the memory location number between 0 and 9 under
which the number is stored, and then the numbers will be shown on the LCD. Press Pre
1or Pre 2 button.Then the unit will turn on the speakerphone automatically and dial
out Prefix number + 1 second pause + your designated memory number.
EMERGENCY CALL FUNCTION (M3)
If emergency button (M3) is pressed, the unit automatically switches into handsfree
mode and dials up to 3 pre-set emergency numbers rotationally (E1, E2, E3) until the
call is connected.
If the emergency call rings for the pre-determined maximum ringing time (e.g. 30
seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds or 120 seconds), and nobody picks up the phone, the
unit will dial the Second Emergency number (E2). If the Second Emergency call rings
for the set ringing time and still nobody answers, the unit will dial the Third Emergency
number (E3). If the call is still not being connected, the unit will continue the previous
cycle (E1, E2 and E3 )10 times. After that the unit will stop the emergency call function
automatically.
If one of the pre-set emergency call numbers is busy, the unit will dial the other two
emergency numbers.
If the emergency call is answered by an answering machine, the unit regards this emer-
gency call as being connected, and will stop dialing the other emergency numbers.

EMERGENCY CALL SETTINGS
Two things need to be determined for your emergency call settings.These are choos-
ing up to 3 numbers that you wish to store (E1, E2, E3) in the M3 key, and setting the
ringing time.
To store three emergency numbers in emergency call
Press and hold the Up key 3 seconds to enter the First Emergency call number setting
mode, the LCD shows E1 on the left hand side of the display.

Press Del/Mute key and then enter the telephone number you want to store in.
First Emergency call number. Press Del/Mute key to erase wrong number if needed.
Press Dial key to confirm and then enter the Second Emergency call number setting
mode.The LCD shows E2 on the left hand side of the display.

Press Del/Mute key and then enter the telephone number you want to store in
Second Emergency call number. Press Dial key to confirm and enter Third Emergency
call number setting mode.The LCD shows E3 on the left hand side of the display.

Press Del/Mute key and then enter the telephone number you want to store in Third
Emergency call number. Press Dial key to confirm and enter three emergency calls (E1,
E2, E3) counter-time (ringing time) setting.The LCD shows 1t 00-30.

To set ringing time for emergency call (if nobody picks up the phone)
If emergency key will be pressed, the unit automatically switches into handsfree
mode and dials up to 3 emergency numbers rotationally (E1, E2, E3).The user can set
the ringing time for these emergency calls. If nobody picks up the phone for your
set ringing time, the unit will dial the other emergency number.The user can set the
ringing time, either 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds in this mode.
After setting three emergency calls, the LCD shows 1t 00-30 .

Press the #or *key to select the emergency call ringing time. (00-30) 30 seconds,
(01-00) 60 seconds, (01-30) 90 seconds and (02-00) 120 seconds are the options.
Press Dial key to confirm and then revert to standby mode.
Dial out emergency call number (M3)
Hang up the phone. Press the M3 button.The unit will turn on handsfree mode
automatically and starts to dial out the First Emergency number (E1). If the E1 call does
not connect in the set ringing time, it will dial the Second Emergency call. If the E2 call
does not connect in the set time, it will dial the Third Emergency call until the call can
get through.When the call is being connected, pick up the handset to answer the call or
press H/F button and talk via microphone.
USING AS A CALLER ID TELEPHONE
Caller ID service
Caller ID is available only to subscribers of the caller ID service & incoming call with
caller ID display. Caller ID allows the caller’s phone number to be shown on the display
before you answer the call. In order to use this feature, you must first subscribe to Caller
ID service with your telephone company.The name of this service may vary depending
on your telephone company.
When you receive a call – the phone number appears on the display with the date and
time.The date and time information is received from your telephone company. If the
call came from a different time zone, it will still show the time in your area.

Out of Area (display with icon only :
The call is made through a telephone company which does not offer Caller ID service
(including long-distance and international calls).
Private call (display with icon only ):
The Caller did not want the number to be shown on the Caller ID unit.
Message (display with icon only ):
Have a new voice message on the PABX service center.
Viewing the Caller ID list
This unit automatically stores the latest 55 calls received. Press Up button, the display
shows the previous call. Press Down button, the display shows the latest Caller ID
number. Press #key or *key to view the date/time for the Caller ID.
If you have subscribed to the Caller ID service (FSK mode), your telephone service
provider will send the updated date/time together with the telephone number to the
telephone unit and the date/time will be set automatically.
Erasing data from the Caller ID list
This unit maintains the last 55 calls in memory. If there is a new call after those 55 calls,
the first call will be automatically erased and new call will be stored (first in, first out).
To erase one stored number at a time
Press Up or Down button to display the data you want to erase. Press Del/Mute button
twice continuously.The displayed data will be erased.
To erase the entire list at once
Press Up or Down button to display one of the calls. Press and hold Del/Mute button
