Introduction
The TSB42AA9 (StorageLynx) EVM is a free-standing evaluation module
that acts as a bridge between a PC or Macintosh 1394 bus and an ATA/ATAPI
device. It is used to evaluate system compatibility, to develop optional soft-
ware that resides in external memory for StorageLynx, and to develop device
drivers. It also provides a TSB42AA9 hardware reference design for connec-
tion to an ATA/ATAPI device such as a hard disk drive (HDD), ZIP drive, Mag-
neto-Optical drive (MO), ORB, CD-ROM, CD-R/W, DVD-ROM, and DVD-
RAM.

The StorageLynx EVM bundle provides the following features:
Two IEEE 1394 port connectors
External 12-V wall power connector
40-pin ATA/ATAPI connector
Flash memory (128K x 8 bit, access times may vary)
Serial EEPROM (4K)
Three device modes switchable by user
50-MHz and 25-MHz operation
40-pin socket for external ICE 8051
