andOn)iftheprimaryelectricalpowersourcebecomesunserviceable.Forageneraloverviewofthe
SFDrefertoChapter34L-3CommunicationsElectronicStandbyIndicator-DescriptionandOperation
orL-3HarrisElectronicStandbyInstrumentSystem-DescriptionandOperation.

A.Foralistoftoolsandequipment,refertoElectricalPower-General.
3.StandbyBatteryRemoval/Installation
A.RemovetheStandbyBattery(RefertoFigure201).
(1)Removetheelectricalpowerfromtheairplane.
(2)MakesurethattheSTBYFLTDISPLAYswitch,foundontheELECTRICALPOWERswitch
panelinthecockpit,isintheOFFposition.
(3)DisengagetheSTBYBATTCHARGEcircuitbreaker,foundontheleftcircuitbreakerpanelin
thecockpit.
(4)Removethenoseradometogetaccesstothestandbybattery(UN011).RefertoChapter53,
NoseRadome-MaintenancePractices.
(5)Disengagethecircuitbreaker(HN002)thatisadjacenttothestandbybattery.
(6)Loosentheknurledknobthatattachesthestandbybatterytothetray.
CAUTION:Donotmovetheunitfromside-to-sideorup-and-downwhenyou
pullitoutofthemountingtray.Anyside-to-sideorup-and-down
movementcancausedamagetotheelectricalpincontacts.
(7)Liftthehandleandcarefullypullthestandbybatterystraighttowardyoutodisengageitfromthe
electricalconnector(PN017)inthetrayassembly.
(8)Removethestandbybatteryfromtheairplane.
B.InstalltheStandbyBattery(RefertoFigure201).
(1)Putthestandbybattery(UN011)initspositiononthetrayassembly.
CAUTION:Donotmovetheunitfromside-to-sideorup-and-downwhenyou
pushitintothemountingtray.Anyside-to-sideorup-and-down
movementcancausedamagetotheelectricalpincontacts.Make
surethattheelectricalconnectorpincontactsarealignedcorrectly.
Iftheyarenotalignedcorrectly,damagetothepincontactscan
occur.
(2)Carefullypushthestandbybatterytoengageitwiththeelectricalconnector(PN017)onthetray
assembly.
(3)Puttheknurledknobinitspositiononthestandbybattery.
(a)Tightentheknurledknob.
(4)Doanelectricalbondcheck(TypeI)fromthestandbybatterytotheairplanestructure.Refer
totheCitationStandardPracticesManual,Chapter20,ElectricalBondingandGrounding-
MaintenancePractices.
(5)Engagethecircuitbreaker(HN002)thatisadjacenttothestandbybattery.
(6)DotheStandbyBatteryOperationalCheckinthissection.
(7)Installthenoseradome.RefertoChapter53,NoseRadome-MaintenancePractices.

(1)DisengagetheSTBYBATTCHARGEcircuitbreakerfoundontheleftcircuitbreakerpanelin
thecockpit.
(2)AttheELECTRICALPOWERpanel,puttheSTBYFLTDISPLAYswitchtotheTESTposition
for5secondsandmakesurethat:
(a)The'test'light(green)nexttotheSTBYFLTDISPLAYswitchstaysonduringtest.
1Ifthelightdoesnotcomeon,orifitgoesoffbeforethetestiscomplete,thebattery
mustbecharged.
(3)PuttheSTBYFLTDISPLAYswitchtotheONposition.
(a)TheBATTPWRONlight(green)foundontheELECTRICALPOWERswitchpanel,comes
on.
(4)PuttheSTBYFLTDISPLAYswitchtotheOFFposition.
