INTENDED USE
The Quake is a portable handheld device designed to loosen secretions and assist in airway clearance of patients suering from
variousr espiratory diseases.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOU QUAKE
We recommend that you clean your Quake once a week or more often as needed.
DISASSEMBLE:
a. To separate the gray barrel from the blue body, rst notice that the blue piece is in the shape of an oval with the seams at the
widest point.
b. Line up the barrel handle with one of the seams.
c. Hold the blue body rmly in one hand and tilt the handle toward the opposite seam while pulling the two pieces apart.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
No absolute contraindications to the use of positive airway pressure have been reported; however use in the following conditions
should be carefully evaluated by a healthcare professional: untreated pneumothorax; hemodynamic instability; esophageal
surgery; recent facial, oral or skull trauma; active hemoptysis; inability to tolerate increased work of breathing; intracranial pressure
(>20 mm Hg); acute sinusitis; epistaxis; nausea; known or suspected tympanic membrane rupture or other middle ear pathology.
ADVERSE REACTIONS1
Possible adverse reactions may include fatigue ; increased intracranial pressure; increased work of breathing that may lead to
hypoventilation and hypercarbia; cardiovascular compromise; myocardial ischemia; decreased venous return; air swallowing, with
increased likelihood of vomiting and aspiration; claustrophobia; pulmonary barotraumas.

HOW TO USE YOUR QUAKE
1. You may use the device while in any position - sitting, standing or lying down - that is comfortable for you to perform your
treatment.
2. Inhale deeply as instructed by your healthcare practitioner. Place your lips on the Quake mouthpiece and begin rotating the
Quake’s handle as you exhale at a slightly faster than normal rate.
3. Continue rotating the handle while inhaling and repeating the exhalation cycle, or proceed as directed by your healthcare
practitioner.
4. Repeat Step 2 between three to six times. Suppress your desire to cough during these cycles.
5. Remove the Quake from your mouth and exhale FORCEFULLY to help loosen the secretions to aid airway clearance. This should
help trigger a cough.
6. If Step 4 does not trigger a productive cough, attempt a“hu”cough to force the secretions from your airways.
FOR BEST RESULTS
1. The Quake is designed to allow you to change how quickly you exhale and rotate the handle to achieve the most eective
clearance therapy. Alter both your inhalation and exhalation rate and the speed of the handle rotation to produce the vibratory
level that best meets your needs.
2. Keep your cheeks rigid as you exhale so that the percussive eect is felt in your lungs rather than your mouth. This may take
some practice; if you have any questions, please consult your healthcare practitioner.
CLEANING:
After separating the gray outer barrel from the blue body, your Quake can be cleaned using one of the following methods:
a. Hand wash: Gently clean both parts in warm soapy water, using common dishwashing liquid. Thoroughly rinse both parts in
clean water and shake to remove excess water. Allow parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
b. Dishwasher: Place both parts in the top rack of the dishwasher for a complete cycle.
c. Boil: Boil both parts in water for ten minutes. Allow parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
REASSEMBLE:
Realign the gray barrel with the blue body and snap into place.
NOTE
Routinely inspect your Quake, particularly if dropped, to ensure it is functioning properly.
FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
Ask your physician, pharmacist or other healthcare practitioner to show you how to use and clean your Quake. For patients
who have diculty using the Quake, a face mask may be used with the assistance of a caregiver during treatment.

KONTRAINDIKATIONEN
Bei der Anwendung zur Erzeugung eines positiven Atemwegsdrucks wurde bisher
über keine absoluten Kontraindikationen
berichtet. Bei Vorliegen folgender Bedingungen, sollte medizinisches Fachpersonal jedoch sorgfältig abwägen, ob die Anwendung
empfehlenswert ist: Nict behandelter Pneumothorax; Hämodynamische Instabilität; Ösophagus-Operation; Vor kurzem erfolgte
Operation oder Trauma im Gesicht, im Mund oder am Schädel; Aushusten von bluthaltigem Sekret (Hämoptyse); Unverträglichkeit
einer erhöhten Atemtätigkeit; Schädelinnendruck (> 20 mm Hg); Akute Sinusitis; Nasenbluten (Epistaxis); Übelkeit; Bekannte
Trommelfellruptur oder andere Mittelohrerkrankung bzw. entsprechender Verdacht.
NEBENWIRKUNGEN
Zu den möglichen Nebenwirkungen gehören Müdigkeit2; erhöhter Schädelinnendruck; erhöhte Atemtätigkeit, die zu
Hypoventilation und Hyperkapnie (erhöhter Kohlendioxidgehalt im Blut) führen kann; kardiovaskuläres Risiko; myokardiale
Ischämie; verringerter venöser Rückuss; Luftschlucken mit erhöhter Wahrscheinlichkeit von Erbrechen und Aspiration;
Klaustrophobie; Barotraumata der Lunge.

WIE SIE IHREN QUAKE ANWENDEN
1. Sie können das Gerät in jeder Position benutzen, die Ihnen für die Behandlung angenehm ist – im Sitzen, Stehen oder Liegen.
2. Inhalieren Sie tief, wie Ihnen dies von Ihrem Arzt erklärt wurde. Umschließen Sie das Mundstück des Quake mit den Lippen und

WIE IST IHR QUAKE ZU PFLEGEN
Es wird empfohlen, Ihren Quake einmal pro Woche oder falls nötig auch öfter zu reinigen.
ZERLEGEN:
a. Bevor Sie den grauen Einsatz vom blauen Korpus trennen, beachten Sie bitte, dass der blaue Teil eine ovale Form besitzt und sich
an der weitesten Stelle Nahtstellen benden.
b. Bringen Sie den Gri des Einsatzes mit einer der Nahtstellen übereinander.
c. Halten Sie den blauen Korpus fest in einer Hand und schwenken Sie dann den Gri zur gegenüberliegenden Nahtstelle, während
Sie beide Teile auseinander ziehen.
REINIGUNG:
Nachdem der graue Einsatz vom blauen Korpus getrennt wurde, kann Ihr Quake nach einer der folgenden Methoden gereinigt werden:
a. Handwäsche: Beide Teile vorsichtig in warmem Wasser, dem ein handelsübliches Geschirrspülmittel zugesetzt wurde, säubern.
Beide Teile anschließend unter klarem Wasser sorgfältig abspülen und schütteln, um restliches Wasser zu entfernen. Die Teile vor
dem Zusammensetzen an der Luft vollständig trocknen lassen.
b. Geschirrspülmaschine: Beide Teile für einen kompletten Waschgang ins obere Fach der Geschirrspülmaschine legen.
c. Auskochen: BeideTeile zehn Minuten lang in kochendes Wasser legen. Die Teile vor dem Zusammensetzen an der Luft vollständig
trocknen lassen.
ZUSAMMENSETZEN:
Den grauen Einsatz wieder an dem blauen Korpus ausrichten und einrasten lassen.
HINWEIS
Kontrollieren Sie Ihren Quake regelmäßig auf korrekte Funktion, insbesondere wenn er einmal heruntergefallen ist.
FÜR WEITERE UNTERSTÜTZUNG
Bitten Sie Ihren Arzt, Apotheker oder sonstiges medizinisches Fachpersonal, Ihnen zu zeigen, wie Sie Ihren Quake anwenden und
reinigen. Bei Patienten, die Probleme mit der Nutzung von Quake haben, kann mit Unterstützung einer Betreuungsperson eine
Gesichtsmaske zur Behandlung herangezogen werden.

CONTRAINDICACIONES
No existe una contraindicación absoluta para el uso de presión positive de la vía aérea que haya sido reportada. Sin embargo, el uso
en las siguientes condiciones debe ser cuidadosamente evaluada por un profesional de la salud: neumotorax no tratado;
inestabilidad hemodinámica; cirugía de esófago; trauma o cirugía facial, oral o del cráneo reciente; hemoptisis activa; inhabilidad

COMO UTILIZAR SU QUAKE
1. Usted puede utilizar el dispositivo en cualquier posición (sentado, parado, o acostado) en que usted se siente cómodo para
recibir su tratamiento.
2. Inhale tan profundo como le fue recomendado por su profesional de la salud o médico. Coloque sus labios en la boquilla del
Quake y comience a rotar la manija mientras exhala un poco más rápido de lo que usted está acostumbrado normalmente.
3. Continúe rotando la manija mientras que inhala y repita el ciclo de exhalación, o proceda según lo dirigido por su profesional
de salud o médico.

PARA MEJORES RESULTADOS
1. El Quake está diseñado para permitir que usted cambie que tan rápidamente exhala y rota la manija y así lograr la terapia más

mejor se ajuste a sus necesidades.

COMO CUIDAR SU QUAKE

CONTRE-INDICATIONS
Aucune contre-indication spécique rapportée en lien avec la pression positive des voies aériennes; toutefois, l’utilisation dans les
conditions suivantes devrait être supervisée attentivement par un professionnel des soins de la santé: pneumothorax non traité;
instabilité hémodynamique; chirurgie oesophagienne; chirurgie ou traumatisme récent du visage, de la cavité buccale ou du crâne;

COMMENT UTILISER VOTRE QUAKE
1. Vous pouvez utiliser l’appareil dans toutes les positions – assis, debout, étendu – selon ce qui vous est le plus confortable pour
eectuer votre traitement.
2. Inhalez profondément, tel qu’expliqué par votre médecin. Placez vos lèvres sur l’embout buccal du Quake et commencez à
tourner la poignée du Quake tout en expirant à un rythme légèrement plus rapide que normalement.
3. Continuez à tourner la poignée tout en répétant le cycle inspiration-expiration ou procédez selon les indications de votre médecin.
4. Répétez l’étape 2 de trois à six fois.Tentez de ne pas céder à l’envie de tousser pendant ces cycles.
5. Retirez le Quake de votre bouche et expirez AVEC VIGUEUR pour aider à dégager les sécrétions et libérer les voies aériennes.
Ceci devrait aider à déclencher la toux.
6. Si l’étape 4 ne déclenche pas de toussement ecace, tentez un raclement de la gorge pour forcer les sécrétions hors des voies
aériennes.
POUR DE MEILLEURS RÉSULTATS
1. Le Quake est conçu de façon à vous permettre de modier le rythme de votre expiration et la vitesse à laquelle vous tournez la
poignée pour obtenir une thérapie de dégagement des voies aériennes la plus ecace possible. Modiez tant votre rythme
d’inspiration que d’expiration et la vitesse de rotation de la poignée an de produire un niveau vibratoire qui correspond le
mieux à vos besoins.
2. Gardez vos joues tendues tout en expirant an que l’eet percutant soit ressenti dans vos poumons plutôt que dans votre bouche.
Cela peut nécessiter un peu de pratique; si vous avez des questions, veuillez consulter votre médecin.
COMMENT ENTRETENIR VOTRE QUAKE
Nous vous recommandons de nettoyer votre Quake au moins une fois par semaine ou plus, selon les besoins.
POUR DÉMONTER:
a. Pour séparer la cuve grise de la partie bleue, observez d’abord la partie bleue qui a une forme ovale avec des rainures à son
point le plus large.
b. Aligner la poignée de la cuve avec l’une des rainures.
c. Tenir fermement la partie bleue d’une main et faites basculer la poignée vers la rainure opposée tout en tirant pour séparer les
deux morceaux.
NETTOYAGE:
Après avoir séparé la cuve externe grise de la partie bleue, vous pouvez nettoyer votre Quake en suivant l’une des méthodes
ci-dessous :
a. Lavage à la main: nettoyer délicatement les deux parties dans une eau chaude savonneuse d’un détergent à vaisselle ordinaire.
Rincer abondamment les deux parties à l’eau claire et secouer pour bien égoutter l’eau. Laisser sécher complètement à l’air libre
avant de réassembler.
b. Lave-vaisselle: placer les deux parties dans le tiroir supérieur du lave-vaisselle et laver pendant un cycle complet.
c. Ébullition: Faire bouillir les deux parties dans l’eau bouillante pendant dix minutes. Laisser sécher complètement à l’air libre avant
de réassembler.
ASSEMBLAGE:
Aligner à nouveau la cuve grise avec la partie bleue et presser pour enclencher.
REMARQUE
Inspectez régulièrement votre Quake pour garantir un fonctionnement adéquat, surtout si ce dernier a été échappé.
POUR ASSISTANCE ADDITIONNELLE
Demandez à votre médecin, pharmacien ou autre professionnel de la santé de vous montrer comment utiliser et nettoyer votre
Quake. Pour les patients éprouvant de la diculté à utiliser le Quake, un masque facial peut être utilisé pendant le traitement
avec l’assistance d’un soignant.

Il Quake è un dispositivo portatile impiegabile manualmente progettato per rimuovere le secrezioni e facilitare la disostruzione
delle vie aeree dei pazienti aetti da svariate patologie respiratorie.
CONTROINDICAZIONI
Non sono riportate controindicazioni assolute all’impiego della pressione positiva nelle vie aeree; comunque, in presenza delle
seguenti patologie, l’impiego dovrebbe essere attentamente valutato da un medico: pneumotorace irrisolto; instabilità
emodinamica; chirurgia esofagea; recenti traumi od interventi chirurgici al viso, alla bocca, al cranio; emoptisi attiva; impossibilità
a tollerare un aumento del lavoro respiratorio; pressione intracranica superiore a 20 mm Hg; sinusite acuta; epistassi; nausea; rottura
della membrana timpanica riconosciuta o sospettata o altra patologia dell’orecchio medio.
REAZIONI AVVERSE
Le possibili reazioni avverse possono includere fatica ; aumento della pressione intracranica; aumento del lavoro respiratorio

COME IMPIEGARE IL VOSTRO QUAKE
1. Potete impiegare il dispositivo in qualunque posizione – da seduti, in piedi, oppure sdraiati – vi aggradi per eettuare il
trattamento.
2. Inalate profondamente, come suggeritovi dal vostro terapista. Chiudete le labbra sul boccaglio del Quake e, mentre espirate
appena più velocemente del normale, ruotate la manovella del Quake.
3. Continuate a ruotare la manovella mentre inspirate e ripetete il ciclo di espirazione, o seguite le istruzioni del vostro terapista.
4. Ripetere quanto al punto 2 dalle tre alle sei volte. Trattenetevi dall’impulso di tossire eettuando l’esercizio.
5. Toglietevi il Quake dalla bocca ed espirate in modo FORZATO per favorire la rimozione delle secrezioni ed aiutare la pulizia
delle vie aeree. Questa manovra dovrebbe favorire lo stimolo a tossire.

1. Il Quake è stato progettato per consentire di variare rapidamente sia l’espirazione che la rotazione della manovella in modo da
perseguire la terapia di rimozione più ecace. Modicate la velocità della espirazione e della rotazione della manovella per
produrre il livello di vibrazione a voi più idoneo.
2. Mantenete le gote rigide durante l’espirazione in modo che l’eetto percussivo coinvolga solo i polmoni e non la bocca. Ciò
richiede un poco di pratica; se avete domande rivolgetevi al vostro terapista.
QUALE MANUTENZIONE PER IL QUAKE
Raccomandiamo una pulizia settimanale del Quake, oppure, se necessario, anche più spesso.
SMONTAGGIO
a. Per separare la manovella grigia dal corpo blu osservate che il corpo blu ha una conformazione ovale con due riferimenti nella
parte più larga.
b. Allineate la manovella con un riferimento.
c. Impugnando il corpo blu con una mano alzare la manovella verso l’altro riferimento provocando il distacco delle due parti.
PULIZIA:
Dopo avere separata la manovella grigia dal corpo blu, il Quake può essere pulito in uno dei seguenti modi:
a. Lavaggio manuale: Pulire delicatamente entrambe le parti con acqua saponata calda impiegando un comune liquido per lavare
i piatti. Risciacquare attentamente entrambe le parti agitandole per rimuovere l’eccesso d’acqua. Asciugare completamente in
aria ambiente prima del riassemblaggio.
b. Lavastoviglie: sistemare le due parti sul cestello superiore della lavastoviglie ed eettuare un ciclo completo di lavaggio.
c. Bollitura: bollire entrambe le parti in acqua per 10 minuti. Asciugare completamente in aria ambiente prima del riassemblaggio.
RIASSEMBLAGGIO:
Riallineare la manovella grigia con uno dei riferimenti del corpo blu e spingerla in posizione di lavoro.
NOTA
Osservare il Quake con regolarità, particolarmente in seguito a cadute, per vericare il corretto funzionamento.
PER ULTERIORE ASSISTENZA
Chiedetela vostro medico, farmacista od operatore sanitario di mostrarvi come impiegare e pulire il vostro Quake. Per pazienti che
abbiano dicoltà ad impiegare il Quake può rivelarsi utile l’impiego di una mascherina ed eettuare la terapia con l’assistenza di
personale di supporto.

WAARVOOR WORDT DE QUAKE GEBRUIKT
De Quake is een draagbaar, handzaam apparaat dat gebruikt wordt voor het losmaken van slijm en dat helpt bij het reinigen van de
luchtwegen van patiënten met diverse luchtwegaandoeningen.
CONTRA-INDICATIES
Er zijn tot nu toe geen absolute contra-indicaties voor het gebruik van positieve luchtwegdruk gerapporteerd. Voor de volgende
indicaties moet het gebruik echter zorgvuldig door een medisch deskundige worden overwogen: onbehandelde pneumothorax;
hemodynamische instabiliteit; operaties aan de slokdarm; recente operaties of trauma’s aan het gezicht, de mond of de schedel;
actieve hemoptoë (bloed ophoesten); intolerantie voor verhoogde belasting van de ademhaling; verhoogde hersendruk
(intracraniële druk) >20 mm Hg; acute bijholteontsteking (sinusitis); bloedneus (epistaxis); misselijkheid; bekende of vermoede
ruptuur van het trommelvlies of andere aandoeningen van het middenoor.

BIJWERKINGEN
De mogelijke bijwerkingen zijn onder andere: vermoeidheid ; verhoogde hersendruk; verhoogde belasting van de ademhaling die
kan leiden tot hypoventilatie en hypercapnie; hart- en vaatproblemen; ischemie van het hart; verminderde veneuze terugvloed;
luchtslikken met verhoogde kans op braken en aspiratie; claustrofobie; drukbeschadiging van de longen.

HOE MOET U DE QUAKE GEBRUIKEN
1. U kunt het apparaat gebruiken in de houding die voor u het gemakkelijkst is: zittend, staand of liggend.
2. Inhaleer diep op de manier die uw arts heeft uitgelegd. Sluit uw lippen over het mondstuk van de Quake en draai aan de hendel
van de Quake. Adem daarbij iets sneller dan normaal uit.
3. Blijf draaien aan de hendel, adem in en vervolgens weer uit of volg de instructies van uw arts.
4. Herhaal Stap 2 drie- tot zesmaal. Onderdruk uw neiging om te hoesten tijdens de behandeling.
5. Neem de Quake uit uw mond en adem KRACHTIG uit; dit helpt bij het losmaken van slijm en het reinigen van de luchtwegen
en wekt waarschijnlijk een hoestreex op.
6. Als Stap 4 geen productieve hoest opwekt, probeer dan te huen, dit is hard uitademen met open mond. Hiermee kunt u het
slijm uit de luchtwegen werken.
VOOR HET BESTE RESULTAAT
1. De Quake is zo ontworpen dat u de snelheid waarmee u uitademt en aan de hendel draait zo kunt variëren dat u uw
luchtwegen op de meest eectieve manier reinigt. Varieer uw inademing en uitademing en de draaisnelheid van de hendel
om het vibratieniveau te bereiken waarop u het best reageert.
2. Houd uw wangen stijf bij het uitademen zodat u het kloppen in uw longen voelt en niet in uw mond. Dit vereist wat oefening;
als u vragen hebt, neem dan contact op met uw arts.
HOE VERZORGT U DE QUAKE
Wij raden u aan om de Quake eenmaal per week schoon te maken, of zoveel vaker als nodig is.
UIT ELKAAR NEMEN:
a. Bekijk de blauwe houder voordat u het grijze opzetstuk eruit neemt: u ziet dat de blauwe houder ovaal is met de naden op het
breedste punt.
b. Breng de greep van het opzetstuk op een lijn met een van de naden.
c. Houd de blauwe houder stevig in een hand en kantel de hendel naar de tegenoverliggende naad; trek daarbij de twee
gedeelten uit elkaar.
REINIGEN:
Als u het grijze opzetstuk uit de blauwe houder hebt genomen, kunt u de Quake op een van de volgende manieren schoonmaken:
a. Met de hand: was beide delen voorzichtig in een warm sopje met afwasmiddel. Spoel beide delen goed af met schoon water en
schud om overtollig water te verwijderen. Laat beide delen geheel drogen voordat u het apparaat weer in elkaar zet.
b. Vaatwasser: zet beide delen in het bovenste rek van de vaatwasser en kies een volledig vaatwasprogramma.
c. Koken: kook beide delen ten minste 10 minuten uit in water. Laat beide delen geheel drogen voordat u het apparaat weer in
elkaar zet.
IN ELKAAR ZETTEN:
Breng de greep van het grijze opzetstuk weer op een lijn met een naad van de blauwe houder en klik vast.
LET OP
Controleer regelmatig of de Quake nog goed functioneert, vooral als hij gevallen is.
VOOR VERDERE HULP
Vraag uw arts, apotheker of een andere medisch deskundige om u te laten zien hoe u de Quake moet gebruiken en schoonmaken.
Bij patiënten voor wie het moeilijk is om de Quake te hanteren, kan met hulp van een verzorger ook een gezichtsmasker worden
gebruikt worden voor de behandeling.
