SETTING UP & OPERATING YOUR CARBON FILTER WATER DECANTER
STEP 6: FILLING THE DECANTER
WARNING! Use only with tap water or other potable water source.
A. Make sure the spigot is in the off position (the handle is turned to the side) until you’re ready to dispense your water.
B. Fill the upper container with water and allow it to filter into the lower water container. The initial fill needs to fully saturate the filter with water.
C. Since fine particles of carbon may flush from the filter initially, please discard the water and then refill and discard a second time.
(Please note that it may take more than an hour for each round of water to flow through the filter.)
D. After the second batch of water has run through the filter, empty the lower water container.
E. Refill the upper filter container, and your Carbon Filter Water Decanter is ready to use.
IMPORTANT:
• The Carbon Block Filter may take up to 15 minutes to begin dripping. After the initial 12–24 hours of use, micro air pockets within the filter will be fully replaced
with water and the decanter will reach its maximum flow rate.
• Your Carbon Filter Water Decanter will continue to filter water even when the lower container is full. To avoid the decanter from overflowing, we recommend
emptying the lower container completely before refilling the upper container.
• If you plan to leave your Carbon Filter Water Decanter unused for more than two days, we recommend emptying both the upper and lower containers and
allowing the components and filter to air dry.

Cleaning & Maintaining Your Carbon Filter
Water Decanter
1. Remove the Carbon Block Filter, spigot, and any other attached components.
2. Clean the inside and outside of the upper and lower containers with a soft cloth, using warm water and a mild dish soap. Never use harsh chemicals and other cleaners.
Marks and splatters will be more easily removed from the container’s exterior powder-coated finish when cleaned promptly.
NOTE: If your Carbon Filter Water Decanter is filtering hard water, which is water with a high-dissolved mineral content, scale from naturally occurring minerals such as
calcium may develop in the spigot and chambers after prolonged use. These deposits can be removed by soaking the affected components in a 50% vinegar and 50%
water mixture for about 15 minutes, followed by washing with water and mild dish soap. Do not soak the Carbon Block Filter in the vinegar mixture.
NOTE: The Carbon Block Filter should be replaced at least once a year. More frequent replacement may be required depending on the frequency of use and source water.
WARNING! NEVER use alcohol or other solvents to clean the Carbon Filter Water Decanter as it will remove the paint.
The water decanter containers, particularly the lower container, should be cleaned at least once per month. More frequent cleaning may be necessary depending on your use and
source water quality.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why does my Carbon Filter Water Decanter leak where the upper and lower containers fit together?
A water-tight seal between the upper and lower containers would prevent gravity filtration, so water may leak from where they fit together if both containers are full or nearly full.
To prevent this from happening, we recommend emptying the lower container completely before refilling the upper container.
NOTE: If at any time you experience an issue with the decanter leaking from areas other than where the two containers fit together, discontinue use, empty the water from the
upper and lower containers, and contact Customer Care.
Why does the upper filter container still contain water after the filtering process?
Because the Carbon Filter Water Decanter is gravity filtered, as the water level in the upper container decreases, there’s less water pressure to force water through the filter, and
the filtering process slows down. It’s normal for one to two inches of water to remain in the upper container.
Why is the filtered water cloudy?
Cloudy filtered water may indicate that the filter still contains some residual carbon dust or that it’s time to replace the filter.
Run water through the filter until the water appears clear.
Why is there a residue in the upper and lower containers?
Naturally occurring minerals in your tap water such as calcium and magnesium carbonates, bicarbonates, chlorides, and sulfates
can leave deposits in the containers, as well as cookware that has contained the filtered water. These deposits can be removed by
cleaning the containers per the instructions provided in this manual.
