1.6. Specialised staff
‒Persons who gained their skills and expertise by means of professional training in the medical or medical-
technical sector (e.g. doctors, therapists).
‒Persons who due to their professional experience and by means of instruction/training by the manufacturer
are able to assess safety-relevant regulations and recognise potential risks in their field of work (e.g. assistants).
‒Operates the software and makes settings.
‒Persons trained by the manufacturer (e.g. sales partners of the manufacturer) are able to instruct others
on how to use the system.
1.7. Supervision
‒The training session is supervised by trained specialists.
‒Training under supervision:
oTrained specialists are with the patient during training.
oTrained specialist can react immediately to dangerous situations during training.
oTraining with the THERA-Trainer should only be carried out under supervision, if:
1. T.assist (assistance system) is not available or defective.
2. Patient emergency stop is not installed.
3. Patient emergency stop and/or bed bell cannot be reached by the patient at all times.
‒Training without supervision:
oTrained specialist is in the room (not directly with the patient) during training.
oTraining with the THERA-Trainer should only be carried out without supervision, if:
1. T.assist (assistance system) is available and operational.
2. Patient emergency stop is installed.
3. Patient emergency stop and/or bed bell can be reached by the patient at all times.
1.8. Active/passive training
Active training
‒The patient uses his own muscle power.
Passive training
‒The THERA-Trainer moves the patient.
oPatients do not use their own muscle power.
‒When switched on, the THERA-Trainer will always start with passive exercise at the set number of revolutions.
Assistive training
‒A combination of active and passive exercise.
‒By actively moving the patient in the same direction, the THERA-Trainer will automatically switch to active
exercise.
‒If the muscle power is not sufficient, the motor automatically supports and compensates for missing activities
to ensure harmonic rotation.
Patients decide on the form of exercise based on their own activity. No additional settings need to be made
for this. The trainer automatically ensures harmonic rotation. The “T.drive”supporting technology of the
THERA-Trainer improves low muscular strength/activities.

3. Purpose
The THERA-Trainer bemo is a cyclic movement exerciser designed to mobilise the upper and lower extremities
of patients whose mobility is restricted after accidents, operations or by general illnesses affecting the
musculoskeletal system. The THERA-Trainer bemo is also used for mobilisation during dialysis.
The THERA-Trainer bemo is suitable for use in closed rooms in facilities (e.g. clinics, homes, therapy practices,
dialysis, etc.) for:
‒exercising legs in a recumbent or semi-recumbent position on a bed/couch.
‒exercising the upper body in a recumbent, semi-recumbent or sitting position on a bed/couch, chair or
wheelchair.

Before beginning training, consult a doctor to clarify whether patients with cardiovascular diseases are
allowed to exercise with the THERA-Trainer.
Only use the THERA-Trainer with undamaged and functional cables.
In case of possible infection due to contaminated attachments/optional parts, always wear personal
protective equipment (gloves, mask) when cleaning the THERA-Trainer.
Patients who are connected to other medical devices during training should train only with equipotential bonding.
Use the THERA-Trainer only with correctly set supply voltage.
Warning
Follow the user manual.
Training with the THERA-Trainer should only be carried out under supervision, if:
–T.assist is not available or defective.
–Patient emergency stop is not installed.
–Patient emergency stop and/or bed bell cannot be reached by the patient at all times.
Before starting the training session, make sure that the T.assist option is working when you use it.
Before starting defibrillation, remove the patient's extremities from the trainer.
If the patient has a cardiac pacemaker, consult a doctor before the first training session.
Before any training, make sure that safety equipment is working correctly.
When laying cables, make sure that
