MANUAL BRAKE BUTTON
ADJUSTMENT DIAL
Instructions & Safety
HOW TO OPERATE
The Dial-A-Distance Retractable operates
in a very similar manner to most other
retractable leashes, with one major
difference…Dial-A-Distance will
automatically stop extending at the
maximum length you choose! It just
takes a second to adjust. Whenever the
leash is extended to the distance you
choose as safe for your environment,
our patent-pending autobrake will
automatically stop your leash from
extending further. In addition, you still
have the manual thumb brake to use
whenever needed. Simply follow the
instructions below.
TO SET MAXIMUM LENGTH
FOR AUTOBRAKE
With leash fully retracted, simply press
in the Adjustment Dial and rotate to your
desired maximum length from 0 to 15
feet. Whenever the leash extends to that
length, our patent-pending autobrake
will automatically stop the leash from
extending further.
If the Adjustment Dial is turned past “15”
at any time, the autobrake will be disen-
gaged until you manually turn the
Adjustment Dial back to 15 or less.
LENGTH REMAINING TO EXTEND
BEFORE AUTOBRAKE ENGAGES
You’ll notice that as the leash extends
and retracts, the Adjustment Dial rotates.
The number pointed to by the Dial is the
length remaining before the autobrake
engages (unless it is set higher than “15”;
see above).
ADJUSTING DIAL WITH LEASH
PARTIALLY EXTENDED
If you adjust the Dial while the leash is
already partially extended, the new setting
will INDICATE THE AMOUNT OF LEASH
REMAINING UNTIL AUTOBRAKE. The Dial
will NOT indicate the new maximum
length until the leash is fully retracted.
TO MANUALLY STOP LEASH
FROM FURTHER EXTENDING
At any time, you may also simply press
the Manual Brake Button down with your
thumb to immediately stop the leash from
further extending.
TO LOCK/RELEASE
THE MANUAL BRAKE BUTTON
To lock, press the Manual Brake Button
forward and the leash will remain at a
fixed length until it is released. To release,
slide Manual Brake Button backward and
the leash will extend and retract as usual.

INSTRUCTIONS & SAFETY CONTINUED
WARNING: THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR PETS ONLY. KEEP OUT OF
REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT USE WITH A TIE-OUT. PETS SHOULD BE
SUPERVISED WHILE USING THIS ITEM. REMOVE ITEM FROM PET IF ANY PART
BECOMES LOOSE OR DETACHED. FOR DOGS ONLY.
Because Dial-A-Distance is retractable,
special precautions are necessary to
reduce the risk of injury. Please read the
safety instructions carefully before use.
Dial-A-Distance is NOT a toy - it is solely
intended for use with obedient,
well-trained dogs, and should be
operated by a responsible adult only.
Dial-A-Distance shall also not be used near
small children, including children in
strollers or carriers. To ensure safe and
proper leash function, use Dial-A-Distance
only on dogs that do not exceed the
weight limit requirements.
Before using the retractable leash, please
ensure that the metal ring on the dog
collar can withstand your dog’s strength.
Excessive force caused by extremely hard
pulls, lunges or running can cause damage
to the leash.
NEVER attach Dial-A-Distance to your
dog’s ID tag ring, as that ring is not meant
to withstand any force. Make sure the hook
is fully closed and securely attached. Do
NOT let your dog chew on the leash.
NEVER allow the leash to rub against any
rough, ragged, or sharp surface. Do NOT
tie the leash around a tree, or any other
object, and to ensure safe functioning of
the leash, do NOT add accessories
to the leash. Always inspect Dial-A-Dis-
tance prior to use. Discontinue using the
leash if you notice any damage.
RISK OF INJURY:
To avoid the risk of facial or bodily injuries
to people as well as animals, read the
directions carefully before use, and use
Dial-A-Distance only as instructed. Poten-
tial injuries may include but are not limited
to eye, face and bodily injuries, such as
burns, abrasions, cuts and/or amputations
of limbs.
If the leash or your dog’s collar breaks, or if
the leash separates from your dog’s collar,
the cord and hood can snap and cause
potentially serious damage to the head,
including eye damage, broken teeth, and
bruises.
To limit the risk of accidental cuts and
abrasions do not grab the leash while your
dog is attached. If the leash wraps around
fingers or catches on a ring, a hard pull on
the cord can potentially amputate fingers
or cause fractures. To avoid such injuries,
we strongly advise not to touch the cord
or let it wrap around any part of your body,
while your dog is attached. If the cord gets
entangled, gain control of your dog before
untangling it.
Retractable leashes are longer than regular
leashes, giving your dog more freedom to
run while being leashed. Therefore, they
can also build up more speed and pull
harder on a retractable leash, and possibly
make you fall. It is important to keep your
dog from running away from you immedi-
ately by pressing the BRAKE button. Don’t
allow for any slack in the leash, as this can
lead to sudden pulls and possibly falls for
you or a bystander. Only use Dial-A-Dis-
tance on foot, never while riding or
operating a device with wheels, such as a
bike or golf cart.
DO NOT use Dial-A-Distance
- if on medication that makes you
sleepy or groggy
- if under the influence of alcohol
or drugs
- with choke-type collars
DO NOT attempt to open the retractable
unit! If you have problems with your
Dial-A-Distance, do NOT attempt to
repair it yourself.

CLEANING AND CARE:
Remove any dirt or debris from the leash
and hook. Clean carefully with a damp
cloth. To prevent damage to your leash,
avoid harsh cleaning products.
If the leash gets wet, pull the cord out of its
housing as far as possible and lock the
brake. Leave it to dry in safe place, out of
reach of children. When dry, carefully
retract the leash back into its housing. If
Dial-A-Distance gets damaged, do not try
to open the housing or repair any part of
the leash yourself.
