Whetheryouhavecutyourownwood
or bought it, the important thing is:
thewoodshouldbedriedforatleast
twoyearsbeforeitisburned!

DRYING
The water content of rewood has a
greateffectonitsburningproperties.
Your wood should be as dry as pos-
sible. Only then can it give off much
heat and burn without polluting the
environment. Freshly cut wood can
containbetween45and60%moisture
dependingontheseasonandtype.Af-
tertheoptimaldryingthiswatercon-
tent drops to below 15%. Depending
onthewoodtypethiscantakeabout
two years, and even longer for some
kinds.
STORAGE
Ifrewoodistodrythoroughly,itmust
becutintosmallpieces.
Checkthisyourself:thecircumference
should be max 20–25 cm. Store the
woodoutofdoors,protectitfromrain
andsnow,andmakesureitiswellven-
tilated.
