BASIC OPERATIONS
Power On
Turn the volume knob (4) clockwise to power on.
1. The LED will flash blue rapidly as the TA-582 powers up.
2. The unit will establish a network connection and log in.
(this can take 20 seconds)
3. When a connection is established, the radio will announce “Turn TO”
and the group name. The LED will slowly flash blue.
Power Off
Turn the volume knob anticlockwise to power off. The LED will illuminate
red during the shutting-down process. (this can take 12 seconds)
Transmitting
Press the PTT, and the LED will illuminate red, indicating the radio is in
transmit mode.
Receiving
The LED will illuminate blue when the radio is receiving a transmission.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS
Group Select
The unit can change between groups to communicate with different users.
1. Press key 11 to cycle up through available groups.
The radio will give an audible announcement. When the desired
group is announced, if no further key is pressed, the radio will
switch to the selected group in 3 seconds.
2. Pressing key 12 will cycle down through available groups as
above.
3. If you do not wait for the 3 seconds to select a group, a press of
the PTT will select the group immediately
Friend List
The unit can access a list of “Friends” for one-on-one private call
communication.
The friend’s list is pre-programmed when the fleet is set up.
1. Short press key 9. The radio will announce “Friends List”
2. Use keys 11 or 12 to scroll through the online friends. The radio
will announce online friends names.
When a desired friend is announced, push the PTT within 3
seconds.
The radio will announce “Turn to” and your own used name. You
are now in a private call with the selected user.
3. To cancel a private call, press key 9.
User List
The unit can access all online users within your fleet for one-on-one private
call communication.
1. Long press key 9. The radio will announce “User List.”
2. Use keys 11 or 12 to scroll through the online Users. The radio
will announce the online User names.
When a desired User is announced, push the PTT within 3
seconds.
The radio will announce “Turn to” and your own used name. You
are now in a private call with the selected user.
3. To a cancel private call, press key 9.
SOS Mode
The unit has an SOS alert feature that, if held for 3 seconds, will send an
alert message to all other users.
1. Hold the SOS button down for 3 seconds.
2. The Status Led will turn red and flash quickly. The SOS is
transmitted three times.
3. Holding down the SOS button for 3 seconds while the LED
quickly flashes red will cancel the SOS.
On receipt of an SOS from another user, the radio will announce the
SOS and the user’s name. The LED will enter a quick red flash.
Hold down the SOS key for 3 seconds to cancel the quick flashing LED.
Text Messages
The unit can receive text messages. Upon receiving a text message, the
radio will announce and read the message via an inbuilt text-to-speech
engine.
Battery Level
1. Quick press the SOS key (5)
The radio will announce the battery level in a percentage of
available charge.
Battery Charging
1. Place the radio into the desktop charging cradle
2. The Red LED status on the charger indicates the battery is
charging.
3. The Green LED status on the charger indicates charging is
complete.
The radio can also be charged via the Micro USB port (14)
Note charging via the USB is a slower trickle charge compared to
the desktop charging cradle option.
