1.Removethehex-headscrewsthatsecurethe
consolearmcoverandremovethecover.
Note:Savethescrewsforsecuringtheconsole
armcoverlater.
2.Routethewireharnessbypositioningthelight
indicatorandalarmleadsintheconsolearm,
followingthemainwireharnessundertheseat
totheothersideofthemachine,andthen
behindtheseatalongtheleft-handrail,sothat
theoillevelsensorandsolenoidvalveleadsare
nearthemainhydraulictank(dieselmodelonly).
RefertoFigure1foranoverviewofthe
wire-harnesspositionandtheconnector
locations.

1.Findtheappropriateoil-levelcoverforyour
machinefromlooseparts.

Thereare2differentoil-levelcoversinthekit,1
forgasolinemachinesandtheotherfordiesel
machines.Thecoverforthedieselmachineis
longerthanthecoverforthegasolinemachine
andmayhavea“D”etchedinit.
2.Usethescrew(5/8inch)andlocknuttoinstall
thedelaytimerontheoil-levelcover(diesel
modelonly);refertoFigure5.

bottom2or3threadswithanti-seizecompound.
10.Torquetheboltsto3to7N∙m(30to60in-lb).
11.Securethetank-valve-hoseendontothe90°
beadedhydraulicttingwiththeworm-drive
clamp.
12.Installthestraighthydraulicttingintothe
openingontheundersideoftheleakdetector
tank(Figure8).

17.Connectthesolenoidvalveconnectortothe
connectormarked“LeakDetectorSolenoid”on
thewireharness.
18.Removetheplugfromthemainhydraulictank
(Figure9).

20.Connecttheoil-levelsensorconnectortothe
connectormarked“LeakDetectorSwitch”on
thewireharness.
21.Securetheleakdetectortankontothemain
hydraulictankwiththe4bolts,washers,
spacers,andrubberwashersthatyoupreviously
removed.
22.Torquetheboltsto3.4to6.7N∙m(30to60in-lb).
23.Ensurethatallthettingsaretight.

UnderstandingtheLeakDetector
System
Theleakdetectorsystemisdesignedtoassistinearly
detectionofhydraulic-uid-systemleaks.Iftheuid
levelinthemainhydraulicreservoirisloweredby118
to177ml(4to6oz),theoatswitchinthetank
willclose.Aftera1seconddelay,thealarmsounds,
alertingtheoperator(Figure15).Expansionofuid,
duetonormalheatingduringmachineoperation,
causestheuidtotransferintotheauxiliaryuid
reservoir.Theuidreturnstothemaintankwhenyou
turnofftheignitionswitch.

ofthetank.
3.Insertacleanrodorscrewdriverintothetank
neckandgentlypushdownontheoatswitch
(Figure16);thealarmshouldsoundafterthe
1-seconddelay.

OperatingtheLeakDetector
Theleakdetectoralarmmaysoundfor1ofthe
followingreasons:
•Aleakof118to177ml(4to6oz)hasoccurred.
•Theuidlevelinthemainreservoirisreducedby
118to177ml(4to6oz)duetocontractionof
theuidbycooling.
Ifthealarmsounds,turnoffthemachineasquicklyas
possibleandinspectitforleaks.Ifthealarmsounds
whileoperatingonagreen,driveoffthegreenrst.
Determinethesourceoftheleakandrepairitbefore
continuingoperation.
Ifyoudonotndaleakandsuspectafalsealarm,
movetheignitionswitchtotheOFFpositionandallow
themachinetostandfor1to2minutestoallowthe
uidlevelstostabilize.Thenstartthemachineand
operateitinanon-sensitiveareatoconrmthatno
leakexists.
Falsealarms,duetouidcontraction,maybecaused
byextendedidlingofthemachineafternormal
operation.Afalsealarmmayalsooccurifyouwork
themachineatareducedworkloadafteranextended
periodofaheavierworkload.Toavoidfalsealarms,
turnthemachineoffratherthanidlingforextended
periods.
