このたびは、弊社産業用インバータ用オプション“ＵＳＢ通信ユニット（ＵＳＢ０
０１Ｚ）”をお買い上げいただきましてありがとうございます。
本取扱説明書は、“ＵＳＢ通信ユニット”を安全に正しく使っていただくために重
要な内容を記載しています。お使いになる前に本取扱説明書およびインバータ本体添
付の「取扱説明書」をご熟読の上、お使いくださるようお願い申し上げます。また、
お読みになったあとは “ＵＳＢ通信ユニット”を実際にご使用になるお客様のお手元
に保管していただき、今後の保守・点検にお役立てください。

１．安全上のご注意
インバータ本体および取扱説明書には、お使いになるかたや他の人への危害と財産の損害を未然に防ぎ、安全
に正しくお使いいただくために、重要な内容を記載しています。
インバータ本体付属取扱説明書の安全上の注意を良く理解してから本文をお読みになり、記載事項をお守り
ください。
■用途限定について
本ユニットを弊社産業用インバータ以外に使用しないでください。それ以外に使用すると事故の原因となります。
■取扱全般について
▼分解・改造・修理しない
感電・火災・けがの原因となります。
修理は販売店にご依頼ください。
▼内部に物（電線屑、棒、針金など）を入れたり、差し込まない
感電・火災の原因となります。
▼水などの液体をかけない
感電・火災の原因となります。
▼もし、煙が出ている、変なにおいがする、異常音がするなどの異常が発生した場合は、すぐに入
力電源を遮断（OFF、切）する
そのまま使用すると、火災の原因となります。販売店に修理をご依頼ください。
■運搬・据付について
▼可燃物を近くに置かない
もし、故障などで発火した場合に、火災の原因となります。
▼水などの液体のかかる所に取り付けない
感電・火災の原因となります。
▼取扱説明書に定められた環境条件で使用する
それ以外の条件で使用すると故障の原因となります。
▼本ユニットの不動作が発生しても重大事故にいたらないように、インバータ本体または設備側に
安全装置を設置する
安全装置を設置しないで使用すると事故の原因となります。
■運転操作について
▼本製品が異常などにより動作停止していても、インバータに通電しているときはインバータ端
子に触れない
通電中にインバータ端子に触れると感電の原因となります。

【注意】 本ＵＳＢ通信ユニットには、インバータ・ユニット間ケーブルおよびパソコン・ユニット間ケーブ
ルは含まれません。別途、お買い求めください。（第３章をご覧ください）
３. 接続方法
次の手順でＵＳＢ通信ユニットとインバータの接続を行います。
１）インバータの入力電源をＯＦＦにし、１５分以上経過してから、インバータ本体のチャージランプが消え
ていることを確認してください。（パソコンの電源は入っていても構いません）
２）パソコンを起動し、ＵＳＢケーブル（市販のＵＳＢケーブルをご用意ください）を本ユニットのＵＳＢコ
ネクタとパソコンのＵＳＢポートに接続します。
初めて接続する場合は

ご使用のコンピュータへＵＳＢデバイスドライバのインストールが必要です
添付の CD-ROM 内の詳細説明書をご覧ください。
３）インバータ・ユニット間ケーブル（別売）をＵＳＢ通信ユニットの通信用コネクタとインバータ本体の通
信コネクタに接続します。この際、各コネクタ部分に力が加わらないよう、注意してください。（インバー
タ側の接続ポートについてはインバータ本体の取扱説明書をご覧ください。）
ＲＳ４８５(2wire type)側：ＶＦ-ｎＣ３、Ｓ１５、ＦＳ１、ＡＳ１、ＰＳ１などのＲＳ４８５(２線式)ポ
ートと接続できます。
ＬＯＧＩＣ側：ＶＦ-ｎＣ１、Ｓ９、Ｓ１１、Ａ７、Ｐ７などの共通シリアルポートと接続できます。
※ＲＳ４８５( 2wire type )、ＬＯＧＩＣのどちらか一方のみの接続としてください。
４）インバータの電源を投入し、通信設定をすると、通信が可能となります。
※ＵＳＢ通信ユニットを取り外す場合も上記１）を確認した後で行ってください。
※ＵＳＢハブおよび増設ＵＳＢポート（ＰＣＭＣＩＡカードなど）へ接続した場合、ご使用の環境によっては動
作が不安定になることがあります。

５. 保証
下記の内容により、無償で修理を行います。
１．正常な取扱いのもとで納入後１年以内に故障が発生し、その原因が明らかに弊社の設計、製作上の責任に帰す
るときは、無償で修理いたします。
２．保証の範囲は納品本体のみといたします。
３．保証期間内についても次のような場合は有償となります。
１）ご使用の誤り、および、不当な修理や改造による故障および損傷。
２）お買い上げ後の落下、および、運送上の故障および損傷。
３）火災、塩害、ガス害、地震、風水害、落雷、電圧異常およびその他の天災地変を原因とする故障および損傷。
４）ＵＳＢ通信ユニットとしての機能（用途）以外に使用された場合の損傷。

Thank your for purchasing a “USB-to-serial conversion unit (USB001Z),” an optional
device for the TOSVERT series inverters.
This instruction manual contains important information to avoid endangering actual
operators and other persons and damaging properties and to ensure the proper and
safe product usage. Please read this manual carefully along with the instruction manual
for your inverter and the communication function manual.
When using the USB-to-serial conversion unit, keep this manual handy for future
maintenance and inspections. Please confirm the latest applicable OS and information
from your Toshiba distributor.

1. Safety precaution
The items described in these instructions and on the inverter itself are very important so that you can
use the inverter safely, prevent injury to yourself and other people around you as well as to prevent
damage to property in the area. Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the symbols and indications
shown below and then continue to read the manual. Make sure that you observe all warnings given.
Limit in purpose
Never use this unit with any device other than TOSVERT series inverter, or it could cause an accident.


Never disassemble, modify or repair.
This can result in electric shock, fire and injury. For repairs, call your sales agency.

Don’t place or insert any kind of object into the inverter (electrical wire cuttings, rods, wires). This
can result in electric shock or fire.
Do not allow water or any other fluid to come in contact with this unit. Do not wipe this unit with a wet
cloth. That may result in electric shock or fire.
Mandatory
If this unit begins to emit smoke or an unusual odor, or unusual sounds, immediately turn power off.
If the equipment is continued in operation in such a state, the result will be fire. Call your local sales
agency for repairs.

Transportation & installation

Don’t place any inflammable objects nearby. If a flame is emitted due to malfunction, it
will
result in a fire.
Don’t install in any location where the unit could come into contact with water or other
fluids. This can result in electric shock or fire.
Mandatory
Must be used in the environmental conditions prescribed in the instruction manual. Use
under any other conditions will result in malfunction.
Provide your inverter or other equipment with safety devices to prevent a serious accident from
resulting even if the unit malfunctions or fails to operate. Usage without a safety device can result in
an accident.


Even if this product is deactivated by the occurrence of an event such as an abnormality, when
power is supplied to the inverter, do not bring any regions of your body into contact with the inverter
terminals. Contact during the power-on status of the inverter can result in electric shock.

This unit does not include an inverter-unit connection cable or a personal computer-unit connection
cable. Purchase these cables separately. (Refer to section 3.)
3. Connecting and starting the USB001Z unit
To connect the USB001Z unit to your computer, follow these steps:
1) Turn off the input power to the inverter, and after waiting for at least 15 minutes, make sure that
the charge lamp on the inverter is no longer lit. (Your personal computer can remain powered
on.)
2) Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the USB001Z unit and to a USB port on your computer.
When connecting the USB001Z unit to your computer for the first time,
you have to install its driver. Refer to Detailed Manual.
3) Connect an inverter-unit connection cable (optional) between the communication connector of the
USB001Z and that of the inverter. At this time, be careful not to apply force to the connectors.
(Refer to the instruction manual of the inverter for connection to the connection port of the inverter.)
RS 485 (2-wire type) side: Connectable to such an RS485 (2-wire type) interface port as
that of the VF-nC3, S15, FS1, AS1, or PS1.
LOGIC side: Connectable to such a common serial interface port as that
of the VF-nC1, S9, S11, A7, or P7.
* Connect the cable only to either RS485 or LOGIC.
4) Turn on the power to the inverter, and set communication parameters.
* Before disconnecting the USB communication unit, also perform above step 1) beforehand.
* Avoid connecting the conversion unit to a USB hub or extended USB port (e.g., PCMCIA card). Or
else the conversion unit may become unstable, depending on the environment in which it is used.

Prohibited
Do not disconnect the USB cable during communication with the inverter.
Otherwise, damage of malfunction will result.


5. Warranty
Any part of the unit that proves defective will be repaired free of charge under the following conditions:
1. This product will be repaired free of charge, if some trouble occurs under normal handling within one year
of delivery and is caused obviously by a defect in design or workmanship.
2. The warranty applies only to the delivered unit.
3. For the following kinds of failure or damage, the repair cost shall be borne by the customer even within the
warranty period.
1) Failure or damage caused by improper or incorrect use or handling, or unauthorized repair or
modification of the inverter.
2) Failure or damage caused by the unit falling or an accident during transportation after the purchase
3) Failure or damage caused by fire, salty water or wind, corrosive gas, earthquake, storm or flood,
lightning, abnormal voltage supply, or other natural disasters.
4) Damage due to the use of the USB-serial communication conversion unit for non-intended purposes.
4. If there are any warranty conditions otherwise provided for, those conditions will govern.
