Cooking With the Fryer
Cooking with the fryer is a two part process.
First the tank must be lled with the correct amount of oil and be preheated to the correct
temperature. Only when this process is complete should you proceed to the cooking stage.
1: Fill the tank with oil
At the rear of the oil tank there are two marks.
Pour in sucient oil to reach the MAX mark.
Do not overll.
The capacity of the tank is 2.5 litres - 1.8 litres is
needed to cover the MIN mark. There should
always be enough oil in the tank to cover the MIN mark.
Corn oil, sunower oil, ground nut oil and vegetable oil are all suitable for use with the fryer.
You may use solid vegetable fat but this is much more dicult to handle. Solid fat should be
melted in a separate pan before transferring it to the tank.
Do not use margarine, butter or olive oil. Do not mix dierent oils and fats.
Lightly smear the viewing window with a little clean oil. This will prevent it from getting
fogged by condensation and allow you to view the food while it cooks.
2: Place the frying basket in the Frying position and close the lid.
3: Plug the fryer into the mains point and switch on the power at the mains.
The POWER light will come on showing the fryer is operational.
4: Set the correct oil temperature for the food.
The Temperature Control is cali-
brated in Degrees Celsius (Centigrade).
Use it in conjunction with your recipe to
set the oil temperature. The frying guide
at the rear of this manual will help you.
5: Preheat The Oil - Do not omit this process!
After 5 -7 minutes the oil will be at the correct temperature and the READY light will come on.
6: Fill the basket with food
When the oil is at the correct temperature:
Open the fryer lid, lift the
basket up and hook it over
the front of the oil tank.
Place the food to be cooked
(which should be as dry as
possible) in the basket. Do
not overll the basket.
Always have the basket in
the raised position when
lling it.
7: Lower the lled basket into the oil and close the lid.
Ensure the slots in the lid t snugly

Helpful Hints
Use the fryer in well ventilated conditions.• All food contains moisture which turns
to steam during frying. Most of this steam escapes through the lter in the lid.
Use a recommended oil - do not mix oils or fats.•
Always lter used oil before re-use. Never leave frying residues in the oil.•
Replace oil frequently.• Discoloured oil, rancid oil, oil that emits an unpleasant
odour or oil that foams excessively when heated should not be used.
Take into account the type of food when you set the frying temperature.• Gener-
ally, precooked foods need a higher cooking temperature than raw foods.
If you need to add oil, do so between batches• . Allow the oil to heat up to the right
temperature before continuing - (“Ready”light on).
Follow your recipe• to help you set the correct time so the food cooks properly.
Ensure that the food is completely immersed in the oil.•
Ensure there is enough room to open the appliance lid and operate the basket.•
Do not lean over the fryer• when placing, cooking or removing food.
Check the progress of the food during cooking• - use the viewing window.
Cook food thoroughly.• Food may turn golden brown before it has cooked through.
Do NOT touch the metal surfaces of the fryer during cooking.•
Always hold the basket by the handle during cooking operations• .
Never shake the fryer basket vigorously - hot oil causes severe burns!!•
WARNING: it is dangerous to operate the fryer with low or no oil in the tank.•
Ensure the oil in the tank exceeds the minimum mark before you start cooking.
WARNING: Prolonged misuse may cause the fryer element to fail totally.•
When The Food Is Cooked
Wait a few seconds to let the steam subside. Now open the lid fully. Be careful as•
there may be steam in the fryer.
Shake the basket s• lightly to remove excess oil. Raise the basket, hook it over the
front edge of the oil well and transfer the food carefully to a heatproof utensil using
heatproof tongs or a metal spoon.
Return the basket to the fryer and close the lid.•
If the food is not fully cooked:• Close the lid, lower the basket into the oil, and
continue the cooking process.
When cooking has been completed
Return the basket to the fryer and close the lid.•
Set the temperature control to• OFF.
Switch o at the mains socket and unplug the fryer.•
Now leave the appliance to cool fully before cleaning.•
If you are using solid fat:
Rremove the basket from the fryer before the fat in the tank solidies.• Wash
the basket in hot soapy water. Use great care as the fat may splatter when it comes
into contact with the water. Alternatively, leave the basket on a heatproof surface to
cool after removing it from the fryer.

where the oil is unlikely to spill or get contaminated.
Making Replacement Filters
You may make your own lters very easily. You will need a plain lter sheet available from
kitchen accessory stores. Place a sheet of paper in the lter recess and draw around the inside
to make a template. Cut out the template with a pair of sharp scissors and make the lter
from the template.
Fit the new lter as previously described.
