1. Introduction
This manual is intended for users of the Trust 300 POWERC@M. Basic knowledge of computers is
necessary to be able to install this product. Please consult one of the Trust Customer Care Centers if you
have any problems. The last page of this instruction manual, as well as the back of the printed, quick
installation manual, contains more information about these Customer Care Centers.
1.1 Conventions used in the manual
The following conventions have been used in the manual to indicate instructions:
<Key> Here you should press a key. The name of the key is given between brackets.
‘System’ This is a specific term used in a program. These are terms used by, for example, Microsoft
Windows 98.
[DIR] Type the text shown between brackets [….].
Extra information will be shown as follows.
Note: If you connect the Trust 300 PowerC@m to a USB HUB, then this USB HUB should have its own
power supply.
The examples assume that the letter "D" has been assigned to your CD-ROM drive. If your system uses a
different letter for your CD-ROM drive, for example "E", you should replace "D" by "E".
1.2 Contents of the box
Check the contents of the box before reading the instruction manual. It should contain the following:

2. Safety
2.1 General information
Carefully read the following instructions before use.
-The Trust 300 PowerC@m does not require any special maintenance. Use a slightly damp, soft cloth to
clean the camera.
-Do not use aggressive substances, such as petrol or white spirit, to clean the device. These may harm
the material.
-Do not submerge the device in liquid. This may be dangerous and will damage the device. Do not use
this device near water.
-Make sure nothing is placed on the cable. Do not use this device in an area where the cable can become
worn or damaged as a result of people walking over it.
-Do not repair this device yourself. If you open this device, you may touch live components. This device
must only be repaired by qualified personnel.
-Under the following circumstances, have the device repaired by qualified personnel:
-The device has come into contact with rain, water or another liquid.
2.2 Batteries
Digital cameras are compact devices which use complex technology. As a result, high demands are placed
on the batteries, which must also be compact. Guidelines for the effective use of batteries:
•Some cameras require a voltage (energy) to store the photographs in the memory. It is, therefore, always
better to download the photographs onto a PC as quickly as possible and to remove the batteries from
the camera when it is not used.
•Cameras with a flash use a lot of energy when the flash is used. If the camera has a flash, limit its use
and take this into consideration with regard to the life span of the batteries. The flash shortens the life
span of the batteries.
•Better quality batteries, such as Duracell Ultra, are often more effective in the long run and work for a
much longer period of time.
•Rechargeable batteries are also useful if the camera is used a lot. Only use NiMH batteries, preferably at
least 1,800 mA (the maximum power can vary per battery type and size). Never use rechargeable NiCd
batteries, because the output voltage is too low for this type of camera. Also, never recharge the alkaline
batteries provided with the camera, because this may cause them to explode.
1. Never throw the batteries onto an open fire. The batteries may explode.
2. Never drill holes into the batteries.
3. Keep the batteries out of the reach of small children.
4. Only use AAA alkaline batteries with this camera. It is recommended to use Duracell Ultra or NiMH
batteries.
When the batteries are empty, ask your local authority where you can dispose of them.
Note: Standard NiCd batteries are unsuitable for use with this camera.
Note: Do not use old and new batteries at the same time, because the old batteries may deplete the
new ones.
Note: The batteries should be removed if the camera is not going to be used for some time. This will
save the battery capacity.
2.3 Camera Memory
The Trust 300 PowerC@m has a Flash memory.
This type of memory ensures that all the recordings are saved when the batteries are replaced.
This type of memory also requires a battery voltage in order to save the recordings.
When the camera is not used for a long period of time, it is recommended to transfer recordings from the
camera memory to a computer.
This will prevent recordings from being lost.

3. Inserting the batteries
1. Open the battery flap by sliding it to the right The direction is also indicated by the arrow on the battery
flap (see figure 1).

2. Insert the two AA batteries as shown in figure 1. The position is also shown on the inside of the battery
flap.
Note: Inserting the batteries incorrectly may cause damage to the camera. The warranty will then no
longer be valid.
Note: The camera will make a noise when the battery voltage becomes too low.
3. Close the battery flap again by gently pushing it and sliding it to the left.
4. The Trust 300 POWERC@M is now ready for use.

This only works in the CIF (320x240) resolution.

5. Using the camera
5.1 Setting the resolution
The Trust 300 PowerC@m can take photographs in two different resolutions, i.e. VGA (640 x 480, approx. 55
photographs) and CIF (320 x 240, approx. 190 photographs).
The camera’s default setting is the VGA (640 x 480) resolution, which can be used to take approximately 55
photographs.
Carry out the following if you wish to set the camera to the low resolutions (CIF).
See figure 2 and figure 3 with the corresponding tables.
1. Turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be heard when the camera is turned
on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) twice until the letters CIF start to flash on the LCD screen (9).
A beep will be heard each time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Press the SELECT button (8) until 2 beeps are heard.
The camera is now in the low resolution mode (CIF), which can be used to take approximately 190
photographs.
4. Click on the EXPOSURE button (1) to take a photograph.
Note: When the camera is turned off, either by using the ON/OFF button or when it turns off
automatically, the camera will return to the high resolution when it is turned back on again. You
will then have to select the low resolution as described in chapter 5.1.
5.2 Setting the recording surroundings
The Trust 300 PowerC@m can be adjusted to suit the conditions of the surroundings.
The table below gives the two different possibilities which can be selected.
The default setting when the camera is turned on is the first resolution.
Outside (default setting).
Inside (clear).

If you wish to change the camera to a different setting, carry out the following.
Use figure 2 and figure 3 with the corresponding tables.
1. Turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be heard when the camera is turned
on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) until picture 2 (table 3) starts to flash on the LCD screen (9).
A beep will be heard each time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard.
The camera has now been set to the desired setting.
Note: When the camera is turned off, either by using the ON/OFF button or when it turns off
automatically, the camera will return to the first position (picture 1 in table 3). You will then have to
adjust the camera as described in chapter 5.2.
The optical sensor has a certain degree of light sensitivity. In less light, it can cause more noise to be visible
in the darker parts of your photograph. This is standard for this type of sensor and will, therefore, produce a
result which is fully comparable to other types or brands. Take this into consideration, where possible. The
best result is obtained with sufficient light. Also make sure that a specific subject is not fully illuminated by, for
example, a bright sun, whilst the rest of the photograph is less illuminated. This can result in overexposure.
The best solution is to take test photographs of various situations and subjects and to look at these so that
you get a feeling of which situations produce a photograph which is acceptable to you.

5.3 Automatic exposure
The Trust 300 PowerC@m has an automatic exposure function which gives a time delay of 10 seconds
before the photograph is taken.
When the camera is turned on, the default setting for this function is OFF .
The automatic exposure function can be turned on as follows.
1. Turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be heard when the camera is turned
on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) until starts to flash on the LCD screen (9). A beep will be heard each
time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard.
The automatic exposure function has now been deactivated.
Press the EXPOSURE button (1) to use the automatic exposure.
Whilst counting down (10 seconds), a beep will be heard which will become faster as the time elapses. Whilst
the camera makes a beeping noise, the LED for the automatic exposure function (4) on the front of the
camera will flash at the same tempo as the beep signal.
Note: When the camera is turned off, either by using the ON/OFF button or when it turns off
automatically, the automatic exposure function will return to the OFF position when the camera is
turned back on again. You will then have to adjust the camera as described in chapter 5.3.
You can repeat the procedure given above to turn the automatic exposure function off again.
Press the MODE button (2) a number of times until starts to flash on the LCD screen (9).
Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard.
The automatic exposure function has now been deactivated.
5.4 Continuous mode
Note: The video function only works in the low (CIF) resolution.
The Trust 300 PowerC@m can be used to take a number of photographs, one after another, using the
CONTINUOUS mode.
1. Turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be heard when the camera is turned
on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) until starts to flash on the LCD screen (9). A beep will be heard each
time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard.
The camera has now been set to the CONTINUOUS mode.
To use the CONTINUOUS mode, press the EXPOSURE button (1) and keep it pressed whilst recording.
The recording will stop once the EXPOSURE button (1) is released.
During recording, a beep will be heard each time a photograph is taken. The counter (14) in figure 3 will also
increase.
Note: When the camera is turned off, either by using the ON/OFF button or when it turns itself off
automatically, the camera will turn off the CONTINUOUS mode and return the PHOTO mode. If
you wish to use the CONTINUOUS mode, the camera will have to be adjusted as described in
chapter 5.4.

5.5 Deleting recordings
To delete recordings, you can either choose to delete all the recordings or only the last recording. You must
delete recordings when the memory is full or if you do not wish to keep the last recording.
5.5.1 Deleting the last recording
1. If you have not already done so, turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be
heard when the camera is turned on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) until starts to flash on the LCD screen (9). A beep will be heard each
time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard and the
last recording has been deleted.
5.5.2 Deleting all the recordings
1. If you have not already done so, turn the camera on by pressing the ON/OFF button (7). A beep will be
heard when the camera is turned on.
2. Press the MODE button (2) until starts to flash on the LCD screen (9). A beep will be heard each
time the MODE button is pressed.
3. Once the desired setting has been found, press the SELECT button (8) until two beeps are heard and all
the recordings have been deleted.
6. Installing the driver
The recordings you have made can be downloaded on your computer. To do this, the driver and the software
must be installed on your computer. Follow the instructions below to do this.
Note: This camera only works with this driver on a system using Windows 98 or later versions. This
camera does not work on an Apple Mac with OS 8, 9 and Mac OSX.
Note: The latest driver can be downloaded from www.trust.com/11335.Check whether a new driver is
available and use this for the installation.
Note: Make sure all other programs are closed during the installation.
Note: During installation in Windows XP, you may receive a message saying that the driver has not been
signed. This does not cause a problem for the functionality. Continue with the installation.
Note: In the examples, the CD-ROM drive is indicated by “D:\”. This may be different for your computer.
6.1 Uninstalling old drivers and devices
The most common cause of faults during installation is the presence of a driver for a similar, old device. The
best solution is to first remove all drivers related to old devices before installing the new driver.
1. Enter the Windows ‘Safe Mode’ (press F8 when starting Windows and then select ‘Safe Mode’ from the
menu which will be displayed).
2. Click on ‘Start – Settings – Control Panel’ and double-click on the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ icon.
3. Find all the programs for similar, old devices and remove these by clicking on the ‘Add/Remove’ button.
When in the ‘Safe Mode’, it is possible for some programs to appear twice. In that case, remove all the
programs which appear twice.
4. Restart the computer.
6.2 Trust Software Installer
1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The Trust Software Installer will start automatically. If the
installation program does not start automatically, start 'Setup.exe' on the CD-ROM. Figure 4 will appear.
The Trust Software Installer will appear in Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

6.3 Installing the driver in Windows 98 / Windows ME / Windows 2000 / Windows XP
1. Click on ‘300 POWERC@M’ to start the installation. Figure 5 will appear.

2. Click on 'Next' to start the installation. Figure 6 will appear.

3. Click on ‘Next’ to continue with the installation. Figure 7 will appear after the installation.

4. Select the option to restart your computer and click on 'Finish'. Start the Trust Software Installer again
(see figure 4) so that you can install the other software. See chapter 7 for instructions on how to install
the other software.
7. Installing the software
The software programs provided with the camera (Photo Fantasy 2000, Photo Impression 2000, Photo
Montage 2000 and Video Impression 1.6) are all installed in exactly the same way.
We have used the installation of Photo Fantasy as an example.
7.1 Photo Fantasy 2000
1. Click on ‘Photo Fantasy 2000’ in the Trust Software Installer (see figure 4). Figure 8 will appear.

2. Select the language in which you wish to install the program and click on ‘OK’. Figure 9 will appear.

3. Click on 'Yes' to accept the license agreement and continue with the installation. Figure 10 will appear.

4. Click on 'OK' to continue. Figure 11 will appear.

5. Click on ‘Next’ to continue with the installation. Figure 12 will appear at the end of the installation process.

6. Click on ‘Finish’ to complete the installation.
You have now completed the installation of Photo Fantasy 2000. Repeat the instructions given above to
install the other software programs provided with the camera.
Once the programs have been installed, you can connect the camera to your computer and download
recordings. See chapter 8 for more instructions.

8. Connecting and checking
8.1 Connecting
Note: The driver must be installed on your system before connecting the camera (see chapter 6).
1. Start Windows.
2. Connect the USB cable to connection 11 (see figure 2) on the camera.
3. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a free USB port on your computer. A beep will be heard from
the camera.
The camera will turn on automatically and be detected by Windows. The driver will be automatically found
and the camera will then be ready for use as a webcam or to download recordings onto your computer.
When connecting the camera in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, it is possible that your system may display a
message saying that the driver has not been signed.
You can ignore this message, because it does not affect the functionality of the driver. It only means that the
driver had not (yet) been fully certified by Microsoft at the time this instruction manual was written. Click on
'Yes' to continue with the installation.
Note: When the camera is connected to the USB port in Windows XP, the system can ask for some
installation files. These files can be found at the next location: D:\Driver\WinXP.
Note: You can only download recordings from the camera’s memory when the camera is connected to
your computer’s USB port. You will not be able to take any photographs. However, it is possible to
take a snapshot and to use the camera as a webcam. The other camera functions will not be
available.
8.2 Checking after the installation
After installing the device and the driver, the following are installed on your computer and can be checked:
‘Start – Settings – Control Panel’. Double-click on the ‘System’ icon and select the ‘Device Manager’ tab.

Note: The information given below will vary when the installation has been altered by the user (for
example, not everything has been installed or locations other than the default locations have been
selected).
Note: Deviations may also occur as a result of using new drivers available on the Internet.
Note: The location or name may vary in the ‘Control Panel’ for different operating systems.

9. Using the software and downloading recordings
9.1 Photo Fantasy 2000
Photo Fantasy
1. Click on the Photo Fantasy icon on your Windows desktop. Figure 13 will appear.

2. Click on ‘Get Fantasy’ (A) to select a subject. Figure 14 will appear.

3. Select the subject that you wish to use. You can choose from more subjects by clicking on the arrow (B).
Click on ‘OK’ (C) when you have selected a subject. Figure 15 will appear.

4. Click on ‘Get Photo’ (D) to add a photograph. Figure 16 will appear.

5. Here, you will see a number of example photographs which you can insert. To add photographs from the
camera’s memory, click on ‘Acquire’ (E). Figure 17 will appear.

6. Select ‘300 POWERC@M’ and click on ‘Select’. Figure 18 will appear.

7. Select the photograph that you wish to use by double clicking on it. Figure 19 will appear.

8. Click on ‘Standard’. The selected photograph will now be visible in the row of ‘Sample Photos’ (see figure
16).
9. Click on ‘OK’. Figure 20 will appear.

10. The photograph has now been inserted in the selected subject in point 3.
If desired, this photograph can be reduced in size, mirrored or moved (see the table below).

HIncreases or reduces the size of the photograph.
IRotates the photograph clockwise or anticlockwise.

Note: The photograph in this example is black-and-white. Depending on the chosen subject, it is also
possible to insert colour photographs.
11. The subject with the inserted photograph can be saved by clicking on ‘Save As’.
This was a short description of Photo Fantasy. For more information about this program, click on the question
mark in the top-right hand corner of the program’s window.
