Trust 200DM User manual

TRUST WIRELESS MOTON DETECTOR 200DM
1
1 Introduction
This manual is intended for users of Trust Wireless Motion Detector 200DM. The
Wireless Motion Detector 200DM can be used with Trust alarm systems from the 200
series.
Entire rooms can be secured with this wireless passive infrared (PIR) motion detector.
The motion detector has a range of 15 metres and an angle of detection of 110º. The
detector responds to sudden changes in temperature within its detection area. As
soon as a person enters the detection area, the motion detector transmits a signal to
the alarm centre.
The motion detector is protected against sabotage and is sold with a 9V alkaline
battery.
2 Safety
2.1 General
1. Do not use this device in damp environments such as bathrooms, swimming
pools, etc.
2. Do not try to repair this device yourself.
3. Under the following circumstance, disconnect the batteries and have the
device repaired by qualified personnel:
a) Fluid has entered the device;
b) The device has been dropped and/or the housing is damaged.
2.2 Batteries
1. The PIR motion detector’s alkaline battery is not rechargeable. Do not try to
recharge these batteries. This may result in an explosion.
2. Do not throw the batteries in an open fire. The batteries may explode.
3. Never drill a hole in the batteries.
4. Keep the batteries out of the reach of small children.
5. When the batteries are empty, ask your local authority where you can dispose
of them.

3 Function description
For a summary of the various functions of the motion detector, see figure 1 and the
table below:
Function Description
ALED Will go on in test mode when a signal has been
sent, as soon as motion is detected. The LED
will remain off in the ‘On’ mode.
BPassive Infrared
(PIR) sensor
For detecting people within the secured area.
CTest / On mode
switch
Switch to test mode to test the detection range
of the PIR. Switch to the ON mode for normal
use.
4 Installation
To install the wireless motion detector, follow the steps below:
1. Remove the front plate of the motion detector with a small coin or screw driver
by positioning it between the edge of the front and back plates and clicking the
plate loose.
2. Set your house code with the 8-component DIP switch (B) (see figure 2). You
can choose any setting. Do make sure that all wireless sensors and remote
controls have the same code.
3. Set the zone code you want to assign to the motion detector with the 3-
component DIP switch (C). Consult the manual of your alarm system for
possible settings.
4. Set the response speed of the motion detector with the jumper (E):
a) Pin 1-2 connected: 1 pulse (normal, the motion detector transmits an
alarm signal at the first detection of motion).
b) Pin 2-3 connected: 3 pulses (less chance of false alarm, the motion detector
only transmits an alarm signal after having detected motion for the third time).
5. Connect the enclosed 9V battery to the battery plug.
6. Click the front plate of the motion detector back into place.
7. Loosen the base on the back of the motion detector by lifting the edge and
sliding the base up.
8. Attach the base to the wall with the enclosed screws and plugs.
Note: For optimum operation, placing the motion detector in the corner
of the room at a height of about 2 metres is recommended.
9. Click the motion detector back to the base again.
10. Set the test/on mode switch (D) to test mode in order to test the detection
range of the PIR sensor (A); the LED will go on when motion is detected. Turn
the switch to ‘On’ for normal use.

4.1 Important information for installation:
1. Install the motion detector only indoors.
2. Do not install the motion detector facing a window or in direct sunlight.
3. Do not install the motion detector facing an air conditioner, fan or electric
heater.
4. Do not hang the detector from a metal fence or metal wall, these may reduce
the transmission distance.
5. Do not install the motion detector in a damp environment, such as a bathroom.
5 Testing
For testing the detection range of the PIR motion detector, follow the instructions
below:
1. Make sure the house code is the same as that of the magnetic contact and
the remote control.
2. Set the ‘Test/On’ switch to the ‘Test’ mode.
3. Allow the PIR motion detector to warm up for 1 to 3 minutes before beginning
testing.
4. Set the alarm centre to the test mode, press [your security code 4 numbers]
[*] [8] on your keyboard. See also the manual of your alarm centre.
5. Walk through the secured area at a speed of 1 step per second across the PIR
beam and check the LED of the motion detector. Every time you walk through
a beam you will hear a beeping noise from the alarm centre and the
associated zone LED will go on.
6. The maximum range of the motion detection of the detector is 12 to 15 metres.
See figure 3. (In the test mode, the motion detector needs 15 seconds to reset
after transmitting a signal, so when testing, move in front of the sensor every
15 seconds).
7. Press your [your security code 4 numbers] [*] [8] again to switch off the test
mode of the alarm centre.
8. After testing, reset the ‘Test/On’ switch of the motion detector to the ‘On’
position. The motion detector’s LED will no longer be on.
If the wireless motion detector does not respond well while being tested, you must
move the detector or adjust the direction the sensor is facing.
For further information concerning installation and use of the motion detector, consult
the manual of your alarm centre.

6 Questions & answers
Question Answer
Does the PIR motion detector
respond to my dog or cat?
Yes. However, you can create a free walking
zone for your pets by taping off the bottom
half of the sensor lens with white tape. This
will prevent the sensor from being directed
towards the floor. This will, however, reduce
the effectiveness of the PIR.
Can I install several motion
detectors in 1 zone?
Yes, but you must make sure they do not
overlap each other. Areas which overlap are
not secure. Usually, 1 motion detector per
zone is sufficient.
Can I install a motion detector
outdoors?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! The motion detector is
very sensitive to temperature changes. To
prevent false alarm, you can only install the
motion detector indoors.
How many motion detectors
can I install on the system and
in a zone?
You can install as many as you wish, there is
no limit. Do be careful that the several motion
detectors in one zone do not overlap each
other.
How can I replace the battery of
the motion detector without
setting off the alarm?
Consult your alarm centre’s manual on
switching the alarm off temporarily before you
replace the battery.
