5.Application possibilities - basics
The control and automation panel TTL -TWICS is an universal electronic operators panel for comfortable
switching and control of TTL air curtain devices of all types and construction lengths.
With ist menu concept the control and automation panel TTL -TWICS is preferably made to control the dual
air curtain system type TWINOR with two air outlet nozzles using the TTL-TWINtec principle.
The used CAN bus technology affords the possibility to connect several units. Single units or groups of units
can be adressed by coding. Sutchlike units of a group will be controlled equal and operates at the same ope-
rating stage or power level. The behaviour in dependency of a door contact and/or a room thermostat and
possibilities of enable of each of the units in this group are separately settlable.
In compare to similar step switches TTL -TWICS controller offers enlarged functions concerning:
• special operating modes for TWINtec principle with coupled or seperate operation of both air outlet
systems
• stepless volume control (in assoc. with EC fans), otherwise 5-stepped control
• AUTOMATIC operation modes for control via door contact and/or room thermostat
• functions for WINTER mode resp. for SUMMER mode
• timer operating with switching times in a weekly programm
• menu display and menu guidance
• groupings of units
• programming of basic functions, like programmings of enable, for restart after frost alert triggering
DQGIRUVSHFLÀFVZLWFKLQJIXQFWLRQV
• key lock with programmable functions
The TTL -TWICS controller is designed for controlling and monitoring of air curtain systems with supply by

6. Operating modes
6.1 OFF mode
In the OFF mode the air curtain system is switched off, but in serviceability and can be activated for operation
by actuation of the buttons MANUAL mode or AUTOMATIC mode.
6.2 MANUAL mode
,Q0$18$/PRGH+$1'PRGHWKHDLUFXUWDLQXQLWZLOOEHFRQWUROOHGGLUHFWO\E\VHWWLQJDQDLUYROXPHÁRZ
rate with adjustment of a continous alterable performance with the Upwards and Downwards keys (only possi-
ble for fans with EC motors) or selection of a operating stage 1 - 5 (AC motors).
The adjustment happens separately for warm air (main outlet nozzle) and cold air outlet (fore outlet nozzle).
Perhaps connected door contacts, room sensors or room thermostates are without effect.
Howether fault messages as like motor faults or frost alert faults and with it associated switchings take place
for safety reasons.
6.3 AUTOMATIC mode
In AUTOMATIC mode the air curtain unit will be switched-on or switched-off by an external conductor (door
contact or a proximity switch) connected at clambs 18/19.
The switch-off of air curtain device(s) by OFF key (0) at the TWICS control panel doesn`t
disconnect automatically the power connection to the electricity grid. Electrical systems
inside the air curtain unit as well as in the control panel and also the power cable and the
data lines may still be energized. The complete electrical disconnection of the air curtain
device from the mains will be effect exclusively by a repair switch provided by customer!

6. Operating modes (cont.)
6.3.1 Overrun within AUTOMATIC mode
A overrun time for the AUTOMATIC mode can be set in menu 3.1 (Basic settings - Overrun time). In case of shu-
tup of the automatic contact (clambs 18/19 at the internal connecting board (PCB) inside the air curtain unit)
of the installation, that means if the door closes, the air curtain unit will keep in operation for the preselected
time.
6.3.2 HEATING mode within AUTOMATIC mode
In case of a switched-off automatic contact, the door is closed, the air curtain unit can activated for direct
room heating by using the HEATING mode within the cycle of AUTOMATIC mode.
The HEATING mode is active only if a room thermostat is connected at clambs 20/21 of the internal connec-
ting board (PCB).
If the room temperature is lower then the temperature adjusted at the room thermostat (accessory) the air
curtain switches ON at the preselected power level or operating stage (menu 5.2 Basic settings-Heating stage).
The AUTOMATIC mode and the WINTER mode (heating) have to be active.
The Automatic contact for the AUTOMATIC mode takes preference over the HEATING mode.
6.4 SUMMER/WINTER mode
The SUMMER/WINTER key switchover between an operation with activated heating battery (WINTER mode)
or an operation without heating (SUMMER mode) manually.
For using this function a selenoid valve or electrothermal valve have to be installed.
At activated WINTER mode (LED lights up) the valve is opened.
At activated SUMMER mode (LED is not illuminated) the valve is closed basically.
The functions SUMMER mode or WINTER mode can also be initiated by an associated BMS signal connected
at the clambs 26/27 on the internal connecting board (PCB) - see also chapt. 10.1 - Internal connecting board.

6.5 Energy saving functions
For an especially and energy saving operation of air curtain system(s) ca be activated special functions:
Output performance coupling of both air outlet systems
The air curtain system TWINORDFKLHYHVLWVKLJKHIÀFLHQF\E\DVSDWLDOO\VHSDUDWLRQRIERWKDLURXWOHWV\VWHPV
implemented in device. The heated interior main- or warm air curtain is upstreamed by a contra-directional

SUHYHQWVDGLUHFWWDQJHQF\RIZDUPDLUFXUWDLQZLWKWKHFROGRXWVLGHDLU7:,1WHFFRXQWHUÁRZSULQFLSOH
By a controlled coupling of both air curtain outlets the upstream air curtain outlet can attched a weighting, in
order to intercept simple shield tasks primarily without additional expenditure of heating energy by running
DKHDGLQSHUIRUPDQFHRIWKHFROGDLUFXUWDLQDQGKRRNXSWKHPDLQZDUPDLUFXUWDLQQRWXQWLODWDSUHGHÀQHG
operating value of the upstreamed cold air curtain. This restrict the energy expenditure by heating to the actu-
ally needed operating values.
The operational coupling of warm air and cold air outlet performance can setted in menu 3.17 - Cold air roller
-link. In menu 3.16 - Cold air roller -% will be determined the intensity of cold air outlet compared to the warm
air outlet performance.Thereby a valutation is possible from 0 % up to 200 %, at that 100% matches the same
performance value as the warm air outlet full duty rated (e.g. both 80% at stepless control, or both step 4 at
stepped control). At an adjustment of 200 % the cold air outlet is running ahead 100% (e.g. cold air outlet 80%
- warm air outlet 40% at stepless control, or cold air outlet step 4 - warm air outlet step 2 at stepped control).
