All product information is to be kept for the entire service life of the air curtain device!
Switching off the air curtain system(s) using the OFF key (0) on the UBT-E controller does not automa-
tically interrupt the mains power supply. Electrical equipment in the air curtain system and in the control
panel as well as the mains and connection lines may still be energised.The complete electrical disconnec-
tion of the air curtain system(s) from the mains takes place exclusively via the repair switch provided by
the customer!

Air curtain devices contain dangerous, voltage-carrying exposed parts and/or moving or rotating
parts.These can cause very serious personal or material damage in case of misuse, replacing of
covers or inappropriate maintenance. Do never open the covers during operation! Do always cut
off the power supply before opening and switch off repair switch!
Assembly, disassembly, start-up, repair and changes of and to the air curtain system must only be

When using other parts or in the event of failure to observe the TTL documentation, we decline

In the event of any ambiguities regarding technology, handling or use, we expressly recommend
checking with the manufacturer or his representative, citing the model designation.
We recommend the installation of a switch-disconnector/load-break switch with remote release
in closed proximity to the air curtain into the unit supply cable.The remote release can be con-
nected to the clambs 34 - 36 of the internal connecting board (ASP/PCB), to disconnect the air
curtain contactors from the mains supply in case of a malfunction.

2. Fixing
The electronic controller UBT2-E is made for wall mounting The case is designed two-piece with a basic plate
and an upper section with integrated electronic equipment.
The top part is screwed with 4 screws with the basic plate.The screws are accessible below the cover plugs at
the case edges.

5.Application possibilities - basics
The controller TTL -UBT2-E is an universal electronic operator panel for comfortable switching and control of
TTL air curtain devices with electric heating of all types and construction lengths.
The used CAN bus technology affords the possibility to connect several units.
The power supply of the single units, particularly the power supply for the electric heating must be detatched
and separately fused for every single unit respective to the electric load of each.
Please regard hereto the corresponding typing circuit diagramms.
Single units can be interconnected at the control level to functionelly groups.
Sutchlike units of a group will be controlled equal and operates at the same operating stage or power level.
By comparison to similar step switches TTL -UBT-E offers enlarged functions concerning::
• AUTOMATIC modes for switching in dependency of a door contact (AutoTK) by units ON-OFF or
door contact with additional time-limitated overrun time (AutoTA) for anti-cooling protection (AKS),
or by room temperature sensor (RT)
• automatic adjustment of air volume performance and heating step in dependence on differency of
actual temperature to desired setpoint for control via room temperature sensor.

7. Operating modes
7.1 Manual - Operating mode - manual operation
If the step option is displayed in the bottom line, you can set different fan settings
by turning the multifunctional rotary knob. If you press the multifunctional rotary
knob, the heating option will be displayed.A heating setting from 1 – 3 can be tur-
ned on by using the multifunctional rotary knob depending on the set fan setting.

Fan step 4 - 5 - heating step 0 - 3
Set the Manual operation (if required). Press the Mode key (PGM Mode dis-
playd). Select manual by using the multifunctional rotary knob (the text colour will

option is displayed on the top line of the display in addition to the actual tempera-
ture. Press the multifunctional rotary knob to activate manual operation.
(Only for operation with a timer)
Turn the multifunctional rotary knob to set the setting in the bottom pre-selection line. Press the multifunc-

selection. Set heating settings 1 - 3 using the same method (depending on the set fan settings, see above).
Select the timer using the multifunctional rotary knob and set the related clock symbol.
Clock symbol = timer OFF
Clock symbol orange = timer set in advance
Press the MODE key again to activate the selected operational mode (also see point 8).
(Default setting: fan step = 0, heating step = 0 -symbol color blue).
7.2 AutoTK - Operating mode - automatic mode with door contact control
Press the Mode key (PGM Mode display). Select AutoTK using the multifunc-
tional rotary knob (the text colour will change from orange to black). Press the

the display next to the actual temperature.
Next, you can set a fan setting, heating (depending on the selected fan setting, also
see point 1) and/or the timer using the multifunctional rotary knob.Turn the knob

setting: fan step 0 and heating step 0).
The integrated timer can be set in advance (also see point 8).

Press the MODE key again to activate the selected operational mode.
The switch-off of air curtain device(s) by OFF key (0) at the UBT-E control panel doesn`t
disconnect automatically the power connection to the electricity grid. Electrical systems
inside the air curtain unit as well as in the control panel and also the power cable and the
data lines may still be energized.The complete electrical disconnection of the air curtain
device from the mains will be effect exclusively by a repair switch provided by customer!

The system must have been provided with a turning-off delay to prevent that the air curtain system is turned
on or off every time the door is opened or closed.This overrun can be set in the BASIC menu to 10 - 300 sec.
(Default setting: turning-off delay 60 sec, see point 9.6)
7.3 AutoTA - Automatic operation with anti-cooling protection (AKS)
Press the Mode key (PGM Mode display). Select AutoTA using the multifunctio-
nal rotary knob (the text colour will change from orange to black). Press the knob
WRFRQÀUPWKHVHOHFWLRQ7KHAutoTA option is displayed on the top line of the
display next to the actual temperature.
You can set the temperature for the cooling protection (AKS) between 11° and
30° C by using the multifunctional rotary knob.Turn the knob to the left or right
to do this until the required temperature has been reached (Default setting: fan
step = 0, heating step = 0 and AKS temperature = 15° C). Press the multifunctional

7.3.1 AutoTA - Automatic operation with AKS and door contact
Press the Mode key (PGM Mode display). Select AutoTA using the multifunctio-

Next, you can set a fan step (1-5) and heating by using the multifunctional rotary
knob (depending on the selected fan setting, also see point 1).Turn the knob to

7.4 AutoRT - Automatic operation with room temperature sensor
Press the Mode key (PGM Mode display). Select AutoRT using the multifunctio-
nal rotary knob (the text colour will change from orange to black). Press the knob

next to the actual temperature.
Select the room temperature using the multifunctional rotary knob and press the

Next, you can set the required room temperature (R-Temp). Press the multifunc-

The fan control will follow the set room temperature (preference temperature). Depending on the difference
between the actual temperature and the set room temperature, the control will adjust the fan and heating
setting.
7.5 Summer/Winter operation

9. Basic - settings in Basic menu
Press the Mode key (PGM Mode display). Select Basic by using the multifunc-
tional rotary knob (the text colour will change from orange to black). Press the

A menu will be displayed with the different setting options.
9.1 Day / date / time settings
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the rela-
ted data (24:00 hour notation).
9.2 Language settings
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the related data.
If required, you can switch from GER to ENG, NLD, FRA, ITA oder PL.
9.3 Factory settings - defaults
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the related data.The original data is
restored.
9.4 Start up
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the related data.
After the air curtain has been switched on, the speed will switch to setting 1 during 3 seconds and, next, to set-
ting 5 for another 3 seconds automatically. Next, the system will operate based on the set fan setting (default
setting: OFF).
9.5 Memory
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the related data.
The memory function ensures that all set values are kept saved in case of power outage. (Default setting: me-
mory ON).
9.6 Overrun (turning-off delay)
Press the multifunctional rotary knob and turn it to select and change the related data.
The turning-off delay at door contact operation can be set between 10 and 300 sec. (Default setting: turning-off
delay 60 sec).

At most 10 air curtain systems can be managed with one control panel
with the UBT2-E control.
Each printed circuit board is equipped with a coding switch for this purpose.
The coding reads as follows:
0= MASTER, 1 - 9 = SLAVE.
NOTE: never use the same coding for two systems.
If input does not follow in the programming mode (PRG Mode) for more than 60 seconds, the mode will be
terminated automatically.
Temperature sensor
The cable must be laid separately and must be as short as possible

by electromagnetic radiation.
The sensor cable must be shielded in unfavourable situations or when
the cable lengths are different (at most 20 m).

12. Faults
Faulty message
The error message will be generated as a collective fault in the MASTER system when a fault occurs.
Only the faulty fan will be put out of service with regard to Motor overheat .

Potential-free messages
Function and fault messages are available on the printed circuit board in the form of change-over switches.
Message motor overheat
will be displayed when the temperature control is activated (fan motors).The faulty fan will be put out of ser-
vice.The system must be checked (contact a specialised installation company).
