MODEL 303
Thank you for your purchase of the Smooth tube pre-amp
pedal. For the applications intended, it will give you a quality of sound
unattainable until now. Your Smooth pick pedal is intended primarily for
bass, keyboard and guitar players who desire to warm-up and enhance
their sound by using the classic vacuum tube as the vehicle. The heart
of the Smooth is the classic 12AX7A twin triode vacuum tube. It is pos-
sible to obtain many classic “old amp” sounds with your present solid-
state and probably over-processed equipment. If you are using tube
equipment, the Smooth win add even more to the good sound you al-
ready have!
OPERATION
The Smooth is capable of a very good range of applications. While a
pedal always has certain limitations vs. Rack systems, care has been
taken to make your pedal as “pro” as possible.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. In order to get the cleanest possible sound, set the Volume control
to maximum and us the "Push" control as you would a standard vol-
ume control.
2. To get more Tube coloration and some overdrive, reduce the Vol-
ume control setting and increase the Push control setting.
SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL NOTES
Although the Smooth is very ruggedly housed ]in heavy gauge steel,
care should be given to the unit as tubes are made from glass. Avoid
physical abuse. A soft touch to the foot switch is all that is needed to
switch the unit. You will note the absence of a power switch on the
Smooth. This was intentional on the part of the designer. There is no
possibility of unwanted power loss during a performance, and power
switches are just one more area of eventual wear-out that has been
avoided. The Smooth has been designed for prolonged periods of con-
tinuous use without overheating or damage. It has been observed that
the Smooth sound is actually enhanced with use as the tube ages.
