Twin Tec Installation Instructions for
Single Fire Coil P/N 2005

OVERVIEW
The Twin Tec P/N 2005 coil is intended for
Harley-Davidson®applications using aftermarket single
fire ignitions such as the Twin Tec Models 1005-1007,
Crane HI-4 and Dyna 2000 series. The Twin Tec P/N
2005 contains two independent high output coils in a
housing that fits the stock mounting location and coil
cover for most applications. Do not use this coil for any
breaker points, Dyna-S series, or Harley-Davidson®
Twin Cam 88®applications.
INSTALLATION
1. Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the
battery ground cable before proceeding.
2. For Twin Tec ignitions, use the hookup shown in
Figure 1 or 2. You can use the same hookup for
Crane and Dyna modules except that the wire
color codes are different:
Crane HI-4 Series
Front Cylinder Coil- Black
Rear Cylinder Coil- White
Coil+ (Module Power) Red
Dyna 2000 Series
Front Cylinder Coil- Blue
Rear Cylinder Coil- Pink
Coil+ (Module Power) White

ADJUST
3. Apply silicone dielectric grease to the coil terminals
to reduce corrosion and prevent arcing. Make sure
that the plug wires have tight fitting boots and the
proper size terminals. If your motorcycle is still
equipped with the original carbon core suppression
plug wires, this is a good time to consider a high
quality spiral core wire set such as the Twin Tec
P/N 3003 universal set.
WARNING: To avoid ignition system
damage from coil arcing, never crank
the engine while any spark plug wire
is disconnected. Do not touch or
connect any test equipment, including
a timing light, to the coil while the
engine is running.
