following paragraph:
2. General safety regulations
- Operate the generator ONLY o tdoors, s fficiently
distant from windows, doors and f me c pboards.
- Never operate the generator in enclosed spaces that
do not have adeq ate ventilation. The motor pro-
d ces carbon monoxide and other harmf l gases
that are harmf l to the health of persons in contact
with it. For this reason, adeq ate ventilation sho ld
be ens red. The comb stion exha st gases are led
o t of the motor room or the work area of the per-
sonnel via pipes and extraction systems. Install a
carbon monoxide alarm device!
- Operate the generator only on horizontal s rfaces to
ens re optim m flow of oil and f el to the motor. If
operation on horizontal s rfaces is not possible, the
ser m st install s itable mo nting and levelling de-
vices to ens re safe stand the generator.
- If the generator is to be sed in rain or snow, provide
adeq ate protection and stability.
- Keep children away from the r nning generator at all
times and in any case; ens re that the motor re-
mains hot for abo t one ho r when switched off. The
exha st pipes, exha st pipes and motor are the
areas where the elevated temperat res last the lon-
gest. To ching them can ca se severe b rns.
- Do not carry o t any checks or maintenance work on
the generator in operation; switch off the motor in
any case.
- Filling with f el and refilling with oil m st be carried
o t with the motor switched off. It is important that
the motor maintains its high temperat re for abo t 1
ho r after it has been switched off.
- The f nctions and circ its of the generator sho ld be
known: Unexperienced persons sho ld not be allo-
wed to se the generator.
- Do not mis se the machine for other p rposes, s ch
as: heating a room with the heat emitted by the mo-
tor, etc.
- If the machine is not in se, do not allow na thori-
sed persons to se it; therefore, eq ip the emer-
gency generator with blocking systems (remove the
ignition key, lock the protective cover with appropri-
ate locks, etc.).
- The machine does not need to be eq ipped with its
own headlights. In any case, the workplace sho ld
be eq ipped with lighting complying with the applica-
ble standards.
- Do not remove any g ards and do not leave the ma-
chine r nning witho t s itable protection (sides and
ho sing) so as not to expose the ser to danger.
- If these g ards have to be removed (for main-
tenance or inspection), it is essential to switch off the
generator beforehand. This work may only be car-
ried o t by q alified personnel.
