Technical data
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 4
2 Technical data
2.1 Sensor performance
Probes: stainless steel electrodes
Dimensions (H x W x D): approx. 74 x 29 x 8 mm
Connection: 10 m cable with FlowTimer+ I/O connector
2.2 Environmental and climate conditions (Splinters)
Ambient temperature: +5°C - 40°C
Protection class: IP20
Location Splinters, I/O cable and connector: Only suitable for
indoor use
2.3 Lifetime
The function of the FlowTimer+ Detect Set must be checked by
a qualified technician at the scheduled intervals (see also
chapter 9.3).

Intended Use
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 5
3 Intended Use
Please observe the notes in this operating manual as well as the
operating conditions and permissible data in the data sheet so that
the system functions perfectly and remains operational for a long
time. In case of non-observance of these instructions as well as in
case of inadmissible interventions into the system, any liability on
our part is void, as is the warranty on the system and accessories!
An external water sensor can be connected directly to the
FlowTimer+ I/O connection. In this case, however, no FlowTimer+
Hub or further water sensor can be connected as the connection is
already occupied.
The FlowTimer+ Detect Set contains accessories for splitting the
FlowTimer+ I/O connector. Thus a FlowTimer+ Hub and an
external water sensor, or several water sensors can be connected
in series.
If the water sensor detects conductive drinking water, the
FlowTimer+ is shut off immediately.
An alarm reset can only be performed via the connected
FlowTimer+ or its supply voltage.
Any other use or use going beyond this shall be deemed improper
use. The usetech GmbH is not liable for damages resulting from
this. The risk is borne solely by the user.

Intended Use
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 6
3.1 Non-approved use
Unapproved use in the sense of a foreseeable misuse shall be
deemed to be improper use:
The supplied I/O splinter must not be used instead of a
FlowTimer+ hub to connect FlowTimer+ devices to each other!
It can only be used within an I/O connection between
FlowTimer+ and FlowTimer+ Hub to connect water sensors!
The water sensor is only suitable for electrically conductive
drinking water.
The FlowTimer+ Protect is not directly supported, but only
indirectly via a group alarm via FlowTimer+ and FlowTimer+
Hub.
No telephones, ISDN, other devices or adapters may be
connected.

Installation

5 Installation
5.1 Mounting the FlowTimer+ Detect Set
The water sensor can be screwed to a wall.
To prevent triggering by superficial moisture only, please
keep a small distance between sensor and floor.
If possible, keep a small distance between the sensor
and the wall in order to accelerate the drainage of water
at the sensor after an alarm.
5.2 Placement of splinters and cables
Lay the splinter and all I/O cables higher than the water
sensor to protect the splinter and connectors from water
in case of flooding.

Installation
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 9
5.3 Electrical connection
The water sensor can be connected directly to the
FlowTimer+ I/O connector. Then no FlowTimer+ Hub can
be connected, because the connection is already
occupied.
If the I/O plug is plugged into the socket, this must cause
a clicking noise. If not, please check again whether the
plug is correctly engaged!
When disconnecting connections, please note to press
the locking lugs of the I/O connectors!
Please connect all parts according to figure 4.1.
The I/O connector (4) is plugged into the FlowTimer+ connector.
Plug the I/O connection cable from the FlowTimer+ Hub (see
FlowTimer+ Hub manual for more information) into the output
(5) of the splinter (2).

Installation

5.4 Cascading the Set
If required, several water sensors can be used
simultaneously on one FlowTimer+! Then order the
FlowTimer+ Detect Set several times.
Please connect all parts according to figure 4.1.
Plug the I/O connector (4) of the first set into the FlowTimer+
connector.
All further sets are then simply connected in series!
The I/O connector (4) of the second set is plugged into the
splinter output (5) of the first set and so on.
If required, a FlowTimer+ Hub can also be connected last!
Simply plug the I/O connection cable from the FlowTimer+ Hub
(see FlowTimer+ Hub instructions for details) into the output (5)
of the last splinter (2).

Operation and Function
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 11
6 Operation and Function
6.1 Operating conditions
6.1.1 Normal operation
No service is necessary.
If the water sensor detects conductive drinking water, the
FlowTimer+ is shut off.
6.1.2 Restarting the system
An alarm reset can only be performed via the connected
FlowTimer+ or its supply voltage.
The precondition for this is also that the water sensor is dry again
and the splinter has not got wet!

Troubleshooting, Maintenance
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 12
7 Troubleshooting, Maintenance
If an alarm has occurred, first check all locations of the
water sensors for possible water accumulations.
If the connected FlowTimer+ disconnects without a reason being
found, unplug the I/O connector (4) of the FlowTimer+ Detect Set
from the I/O connector of the FlowTimer+.
Now check your FlowTimer+ system according to the
instructions of the respective products.
7.1 Maintenance
interval
plot
Monthly
Check entire system restart and function
(see "FlowTimer+ Set instructions").
Biennial
The FlowTimer+ Detect Set should be
checked by an installer after two years at the
latest.

Packaging, Transport, Storage
03/19 FlowTimer+ Detect Set 13
8 Packaging, Transport, Storage
Transport damage!
Inadequately protected systems can be damaged during
transport.
Protect the system from moisture and dirt and transport it
in shockproof packaging.
Avoid exceeding or falling below the permissible storage
temperature.
Protect electrical connections from damage with
protective caps.
The system must be transported or stored in its intended packaging
until it is installed.
Incorrect storage can cause damage to the system!
Store system dry and dust-free!
Storage temperature: -30°C to +60°C
