HDMI is a very complex technology requiring continuous authentication of the signal and the same
video resolution and audio settings on all electronic equipment in the system. When there are multiple
sources and displays, the video resolution and audio setting on all connected units must be adjusted

INTRODUCTION
The Evolution by Vanco EVMX88PRO 4K 8x8 HDBaseT™ Audio and Video Matrix Switcher with ARC, IR, IP and RS-232 allows
8 HDMI sources to be distributed to up to 8 displays simultaneously, with mirrored HDMI outputs for a total of 16 outputs!
The EVMX88PRO is capable of transmitting 4K@60Hz, 4:4:4 Chroma Subsampling, and HDR up to 131ft/40m over a single
Cat6 cable, and 4K@60Hz, 4:4:4 Chroma Subsampling with HDR10 and Dolby Vision on the HDMI inputs and HDMI outputs.
For control, the EVMX88PRO features multiple methods including simple control using the front panel control, IR control, RS-
232, and an easy to use UI accessible via IP. Control switching sources to displays from a computer or a wireless device such
as a tablet or mobile phone. Need an audio matrix as well? The EVMX88PRO also features the ability to send any HDMI audio
input to up to 8 zones. Compatible with both the EVRXHD2 and EVRXDSC HDBaseT receivers to create a modular matrix
unit, add downscaling, ARC, audio extraction, and RS-232 to any HDBaseT output. For switching multiple sources to multiple
displays using HDBaseT technology, with many features for control, audio switching, ARC, 4K HDR resolution, and scaling, the
EVMX88PRO is a great choice for any application.

Front Panel
1. LCD Screen: Shows current status as well as menu options
2. POWER LED: Illuminates red when the device is in standby mode, illuminates green when device is
powered on
3. IR Sensor and its LED: Illuminates RED when the IR sensor receives an IR signal from the IR remote to
control the matrix switcher (the IR sensor is on the right side of the LED)
4. INPUT: Inputs 1-8 for input source selection
5. OUTPUT: Outputs 1-8 for output display selection

Rear Panel
1. INPUTS: Connect HDMI sources to each corresponding HDMI input
2. AUDIO MATRIX OUT/ARC: Connect the included 3-pin terminal blocks for analog audio, and four digital
optical outputs for digital audio
• These audio outputs can either extract audio from the HDMI source(s) connected, or the display(s) over HDBaseT using
ARC. Sources can then be routed to any audio outputs for audio matrix capability
3. OUTPUTS:
• 1-8 - HDBT: Connect HDBaseT receiver(s) to each output, option of the EVRXHD2 or EVRXDSC PoC receivers
• 1-8 - HDMI: Connect HDMI display(s) via HDMI cable; if needing to extend this signal over Cat6, an HDBaseT extender
is strongly recommended
4. CONTROL:
• RS-232: Connect the included RS-232 cable to a computer or 3rd party control system for integration
• IR EYE: Connect the included IR Receiver (RX) to this port, this can be used to control the matrix unit with the included
IR remote; also a helpful feature to hide the matrix unit and lead out the IR Receiver to a different location for remote
control
• FIRMWARE: Connect a Type-A USB cable to upgrade rmware, any available rmware updates will be located on the
product page for this part # on www.vanco1.com, under the “downloads” tab
• TCP/IP: Connect to a local network such as a router or ethernet switch to give the matrix unit connectivity, this will give
the ability to control the matrix unit via IP with any device on the network such as a computer, tablet, or mobile phone
5. RS-232: 3-pin terminal blocks for RS-232 pass-through using EVRXDSC receivers
6. IR IN:
• 1-8: Connect the included IR Receivers (RXs) to each port, the number on the IR input corresponds to the HDBaseT
outputs. Connect this if you would like to control the display(s) over HDBaseT (receiver(s) have IR outputs)
• ALL IN: Connect the included IR Receiver (RX) to this port, this will send an IR signal out to all HDBaseT receiver(s);
useful feature to turn on/off all displays at one time
7. IR OUT:
• 1-8: Connect the included IR Transmitters (TXs) to each port, the number on the IR output corresponds to the HDMI
inputs. Connect this if you would like to control the sources from each display location over HDBaseT (receiver(s) have
IR inputs)
• ALL OUT: Connect the included IR Transmitter (TX) to this port, this will send an IR signal from any HDBaseT receiver
regardless of the HDMI signal routing; useful feature to turn on/off an external amplier or audio distribution system at
any display location

1. Connect HDMI sources to the HDMI inputs of the EVMX88PRO (NOTE: HDMI certied cables are
strongly recommended for 4K HDR resolution)
2. Connect Cat6 cables from the matrix unit outputs to each display location (NOTE: home run Cat6 cables
are strongly recommended as any coupling points such as punch down RJ45 jacks, female/female RJ45
jacks, etc. can cause signal degradation. Patch panels will cause even more signal degradation.)
3. Connect the HDBaseT Receivers to outputs 1-8, option of either the EVRXHD2 or EVRXDSC; connect
HDMI cables from the receivers to each HDMI display (NOTE: HDMI certied cables are strongly
recommended for 4K HDR resolution)
4. Connect HDMI displays to HDMI outputs 1-8 (NOTE: HDMI certied cables are strongly recommended
for 4K HDR resolution)
5. OPTIONAL: Connect an external amplier or AV Receiver to the digital and/or analog output(s) (NOTE:
audio source can be extracted from HDMI source inputs or EVRXDSC receiving using ARC function)
6. OPTIONAL: Connect a router or ethernet switch to the TCP/IP RJ45 jack on the EVMX88PRO, this will
connect the matrix unit to the network, and can be controlled via IP

FRONT PANEL CONTROL
The EVMX88PRO can be controlled by using the buttons on the front panel. Whenever a command is
accepted, the selected input/output buttons will blink three times to conrm.
5.1 Signal Switching (S= Source; D= Display)

5.4 EDID Management
The Extended Display Identication Data (EDID) is used by the source device to match its video resolution with
the connected display. By default, the four source inputs have the following EDID: 4K@60Hz HDR 2CH.

5.5 Audio Setting
The matrix switcher provides four analog L+R audio output ports and four digital optical/SPDIF output ports for
audio de-embedding. The audio source selection of these eight audio output ports, and the L+R audio volume
can be controlled by the front panel buttons.

There are eight audio sources can be selected for any analog L+R audio output port, and twelve audio sources
can be selected for any SPDIF audio output port.

5.4 Preset Setting
Press PRESET button can save the current switching routing or load the saved layout preset.
Note: The matrix switcher supports nine presets, but only preset 1~4 can be saved and recalled by button
control. Please manage other preset by GUI control or RS-232 control.

USER INTERFACE CONTROL
The matrix switcher can be controlled via TCP/IP. Connect the EVMX88PRO to a router or ethernet switch to
connect to the local network. The default IP address and settings are:
IP Address 192.168.0.178

Type 192.168.0.178 into the address bar on any internet browser such as a connected PC, tablet, or mobile
phone, the following webpage should appear:

When using the GUI for the rst time, an admin password must be set, and then click “Save” to enter the
below login tab. Be sure to record the password(s).
The UI is available in two formats, one as a master for the integrator and/or admin, and another for end users
that restricts access to only switching inputs/outputs:

6.1 Switching Tab
Use the 8x8 button grid on the page to set which inputs are directed to which outputs. For example, clicking
the button on the Input 1 row and Output 1 column, directs input 1 to output 1.
Use the 9 numbered buttons under scene area to save and load layout presets.
• To save a given layout, rst click one of the numbered
buttons, then click the Save button
• To load a previously saved layout, rst click one of the
numbered buttons, then click the Recall button

Enable/disable video resolution down-scaling function of HDMI output 1~8 ports.
When enabling down-scaling, the 4K input can be automatically degraded to 1080p output for compatibility
with 1080p display which is connected to the HDMI output port
6.3.2 HDCP Setting
