Introduction:
The range of “Room Distribution Units” (RDU’s) are designed to be mounted directly on top of a
“Vapac Steam Humidifier”. Essentially they consist of a stainless steel manifold, and a number of
axial fans contained in a metal box. The steam manifold distributes the steam evenly across the face
of the fans, which blow air over the plumes of steam, in order that the steam is absorbed quickly into
the conditioned space.
Prior to Installing the Vapac Unit & RDU.
•Check that the unit and RDU installation complies with the minimum dimension requirements
shown in Figure 1 and Table 1 below.

Installation – Mounting Instructions.
•Unpack the RDU, ensuring that all parts/documents are removed prior to discarding the
packaging.
•Remove the RDU cover by removing the six screws – 3 each side – and lifting the cover clear.
•Place the RDU on top of the Vapac Unit, so that the steam outlet of the unt and the steam inlet
of the RDU are aligned.
•Check the position of all other inlet / outlets from / to the unit / RDU, noting any blanking plugs /
knockouts, which need to be removed.
•Remove the RDU from the unit – remove the blanking plugs / knockouts as necessary.
•Re-place the RDU on the unit.
•Secure the RDU in place uning the fixings supplied.
•Connect the steam hose between the cylinder outlet and the RDU steam inlet, securing each
end with the hose clips provided.
•Connect the condensate hose to the two condensate drain points of the steam heder, “Tee”
these together using one of the nylon – T’s provided – (see Fig. 2). The second nylon – T should
be used to connect the combined condensate drain into the feed line between the “tundish fill
cup” and the feed drain manifold – approximately 1/3 of the way up from the manifold – (see Fig.
2).
•Connect the electrical supply to the fans, 230 V~ live from terminal 25, and 230 ~ neutral from
terminal 26. The earth should be connected between the RDU (earth stud) and Unit (earth rail).
•Replace the RDU cover, and secure in place with the six screws removed earlier.
