GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

WARNING: Always ensure machine is switched o before plugging in
power cable. Hold the machine rmly when plugging in and turning on.
When using this vacuum cleaner basic safety precautions should always
be observed, inclusive of the following:
1. This vacuum cleaner is suitable for commercial use (eg. Hotels, schools,
care homes, factories, retail, oces and rental businesses), for cleaning
carpets only – it should not be used to clean hard oors or upholstery.
2. Ensure the machine is disconnected from the mains supply before
any assembly/disassembly.
3. Only use this machine indoors, on dry areas, keeping the area you
are cleaning well lit.
4. Keep ngers, hair and loose clothing away from moving parts and openings
whilst using the machine.
5. This commercial machine should only be used by personnel who have
received appropriate training. It should not be used by those under
8 years of age, or with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
To avoid unauthorised use, keep the machine in a place that denies access
to unauthorised personnel when it is not in use.
6. Only use Vax Commercial recommended tools and accessories with
this machine. Using others may invalidate your guarantee.
7. Use only CE approved 13 amp extension cords, as others may overheat.
Always arrange extension cable so as not to form a trip hazard.
8. Take extra care when cleaning stairs, making sure the brushbar
is switched o.
9. Always use the machine in an upright position, never upside down
or on its side.
10. Keep all openings clear and free from debris as this may aect
the airow/suction.
11. Store the machine in a cool, dry area, ensuring lters are dry if they
have been cleaned (see User Guide instructions).
12. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment should be worn when
operating machinery to protect the user, in accordance with an appropriate
risk assessment prior to use.

13. This vacuum cleaner is not suitable for picking up hazardous dust, including
and not limited to, any material listed by ECD 79/831/EEC, any material
to which exposure is limited by local government and any micro dust which
may be dangerous to health.
14. Regularly examine the power cable for damage, such as cracking or ageing.
If damage is found contact Vax Commercial Careline: (UK) 0330 026 4275.
DO NOT:
15. Use this machine for any other purpose than that which it is specically
designed. Evaluate the building where it will be used and comply with
the current safety regulations and conditions.
16. Leave the machine plugged in when unattended.
17. Use if the machine has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors
or dropped in water.
18. Run over the power cord or use if the power cord or plug is damaged,
and do not handle the plug or use the machine with wet hands.
The power cord should always be protected from heated surfaces
and open ames, and kept away from brushes whilst machine is in use.
19. Leave the machine’s controls on before disconnecting the power cord.
Always store the cord using the cable clips provided.
20.Use the machine to pick up sharp, hot, smoking, burning, ammable,
hazardous or combustible materials, or use in an area where it may
pick up harmful uids (chlorine, bleach, ammonia etc.)
21. Use the power cord to pull or carry the machine. Do not pull the cord around
corners, sharp edges, or close a door over it. Do not unplug the machine
by pulling the cord.
22.Carry the machine while it is switched on.
23. Attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects – this may damage
the machine.
24.Use the machine with incorrect voltage, as this may result in damage
and/or user injury (the correct voltage is shown on ratings label).

Initial setup for normal operation

PREPARATION AND USE

Setting up the vacuum cleaner
Connect both ends of the
hose into the main body
of the vacuum cleaner.
Unwrap power cable
and plug into mains.
Switch on at mains.
Switch machine on.
CAUTION: PLEASE READ SAFETY INFORMATION BEFORE USE (pages 2-3).
CAUTION: To help maintain the smooth movement of the machine, regularly check that the front castors
and rear wheels are free from hair or bres.

To recline the machine place
your foot on the oor head
and pull handle backwards.

Press the back panel release
clip and remove panel.
Hold the cardboard tabs
at the top of the bag and
pull downwards to remove.
(1) Lift dust bag upwards and slot the cardboard tab into the
back of the green bag holder.
(2) Align the bag opening with the hose and push rmly upwards.
To make the new bag easier
to t loosen the bag opening
by gently running your nger
around the opening.
Position the base of the
bag so that it sits on the
pre-motor lter cover.
CAUTION: Always switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical socket before changing
the dust bag or performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks on the machine.

Line up the tabs on the back
panel with the base and close
in a hinge like manner.
Holding the cardboard tabs push rmly upwards making sure
the green safety tab is pushed as far as it will go.
Push and lock into place.
CAUTION: The back panel will not close without a bag being tted or if the bag is incorrectly tted.

Press the back panel release
clip and remove panel.
Hold the cardboard tabs at
the top of the bag and pull
downwards to remove.
Pinch to remove lter.
Open lter cover by squeezing the rear clip and lifting upwards.
Check the pre-motor lter
for discolouration.
CAUTION: For best performance, check the lters when replacing the dust bag.
Replace the lters every 3 months or if they become damaged or discoloured.
Replace both pre and post motor lter at the same time.

To remove the front, push the
clip up and slide the cover
to the right.
Slide the old lter out.
Clean lter by tapping gently.
Check the Post-motor lter
for discolouration.
CAUTION: To maintain optimum performance, check the lters whenever you replace the dust bag.
Replace the lters every 3 months or if they become damaged or discoloured. Replace both pre and
post motor lter at the same time.

Post-motor lter maintenance
The fragrence stick is located inside the pre-motor lter
cage. Remove by pulling the fragrance stick out of the cage
and replace it with a new one.

Changing belt and brushbar
Lie vacuum cleaner on its back exposing
brushbar. Use a crosshead screwdriver
to remove 3 screws.
Remove brushbar cover from
base of vacuum cleaner.
Clean any debris from spindle
and place new belt onto spindle.
Lift to remove brushbar.
Remove and dispose of old belt.
TIP: If the brushbar stops turning whilst in use, switch the machine o and clear the blockage.
Stand the vacuum upright to reset.

Replace brushbar cover and secure
with the 3 screws.
Hook brushbar through belt and place belt on
rounded area of brushbar without bristles.
Line up right side of brushbar with base,
push into place. Line up left side and push
until clicks into place.

When the dust bag full indicator turns red.
a) The dust bag may be full; replace.
b) There maybe a blockage in the hose or brushbar; clear blockage.
c) The lter maybe dirty or blocked; clean or replace.
Switch o your vacuum cleaner at the main socket.
Using a pair of scissors cut any hair or debris free from around the brushbar.

TIP: To test for a blockage in the hose, drop a small ball of paper into the hose.
The paper will drop through if the hose is clear.

Why does the vacuum cleaner have no power?
• It may not be plugged into the electrical outlet correctly. Ensure that the plug is pushed
into the electrical outlet securely.
• The electrical supply may not be working. If unsure consult an electrician.
• Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace with a British 13amp fuse.
• The motor thermostat may have tripped. Switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner. Leave for one hour
before switching the vacuum cleaner back on.
Why won’t the vacuum cleaner pick up?
• Dust bag may be full or incorrectly tted; remove the dust bag from the vacuum replace/ret correctly.
• The lter may be clogged; clean or replace the lter.
• The lter may not be tted correctly; ret the lter.
• There may be a blockage in the oorhead or hose; remove any blockages.
• Back panel may not tted or tted correctly; ret back panel.
• The hose may not be tted correctly; ret.
Why is dust escaping from the vacuum?
• The lter may be clogged; clean or replace the lter.
• The dust bag may be damaged or full; change the dust bag.
• The dust bag may be incorrectly tted; ret dust bag.
• The hose may not be tted correctly; ret.
Why is the brushbar not turning?
• Brushbar may be blocked; clear any dirt and debris, stand the vacuum upright to reset.
• The belt may have broken; replace belt.
• The brushbar may be damaged; replace brushbar.
