Basic safety precautions Do’s
• Do not handle the plug or machine with wet hands.
• Do not leave outdoors.
• Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use cord as a
handle, close a door on the cord or pull cord around
sharp edges or corners. Do not run the machine
over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated
surfaces.
• Do not put any objects into openings or operate with
openings blocked. Keep them free of anything that
might reduce airow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, ngers and all parts of
body away from openings and moving parts.
• Do not pick up hot coals, cigarette butts, ash,
matches or any hot, smoking or burning objects.
• Do not use without the lter in place.
• Do not carry appliance while motor is running.
• Turn o all controls before unplugging.
• Do not use cleaner to pick up harmful or toxic material
(chlorine, bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
• Do not use cleaner to pick up hard or sharp objects
such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
• Do not use cleaner to pick up baking soda or any
other powder-based carpet refresher or deodoriser.
• Do not use cleaner to pick up plaster dust, concrete
dust or any other building or vitreous material.
• Do not attempt to remove blockages with sharp
objects as this may cause damage to the carpet
washer.
• Do not use the carpet washer with incorrect voltage
as this may result in damage or injury to the user.
The correct voltage is listed on the rating label.
• Use only approved 10 amp extension cords. Care
should be taken to arrange the cord so that the cord
cannot be tripped over. Only use a weatherproof
10 amp extension cord.
• Store the cleaner in a cool, dry area. Remove water
and solution from tanks before storage and clean
the lter.
• To prevent dirty water from running into motor,
do not hold the appliance upside-down or lay on
its side. Use appliance in normal upright position.
• Take extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Turn o the on/o switch before unplugging the
cleaner.
• We recommend the use of a residual current device
with a residual current rating of 30mA or less.
• Only use the cleaner indoors and keep the area
you’re cleaning well lit.
• Always keep the power cord away from the brushes
whilst using the carpet washer.
• Always use cleaner with all water/solution tanks
and lters in place.
• Keep all openings clear and free from debris as this
may aect the airow/suction.

Always switch o and unplug the machine
from the electrical outlet before assembling,
opening, emptying the water tanks, before
connecting/disconnecting the attachments,
or carrying out maintenance
or troubleshooting checks.
WARNING
If the tanks or tools are blocked, switch o
the cleaner and remove the blockage(s)
before re-starting your machine.
IMPORTANT
Cleaning lters and replacing them regularly
maintains performance. Vax recommends
that your lters should be checked, cleaned
and replaced periodically.

• Do not leave the cleaner unattended when plugged
in. Unplug it from the socket when not in use.
• Not to be used as a toy.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
• Use only as described in this manual. Use only Vax
recommended attachments, tools and solutions
with this carpet washer. Using other solutions may
invalidate the warranty.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by
a person responsible for their safety.
• Do not use the cleaner if it has been dropped,
damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water. Do
not use the cleaner with a damaged cord or plug. If
the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer or a recommended service agent
to avoid a hazard.
• Before using the carpet washer, test your carpets
/ rugs / upholstery for colour fastness and pile
distortion.

possible and this user guide will help you get the most out of your machine.
Maintaining your carpets will ensure they keep their appearance for longer and smell fresh and
clean. You’ve chosen carpets for your home for a reason and Vax will help you take good care
of them.

IMPORTANT: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing. Test for colourfastness - Wet a white
absorbent cloth with the solution. In a small hidden area of your carpet/rugs/upholstery gently rub with the dampened cloth.
Wait ten minutes and check for colour removal or bleed with a white paper towel or cloth. If your carpet has more than one
colour, check all colours. Test your carpet/rugs/upholstery – Run the carpet washer over a small hidden area.
If no pile distortion occurs continue cleaning. When cleaning an entire room, move furniture out of the area to be cleaned.
If the furniture cannot be moved, place aluminium foil or wax paper under the legs. This will prevent wood nishes from
staining your carpet. Pin up furniture skirts and curtains. When using the carpet washer, basic safety precautions should
always be observed and don’t over saturate your carpets. Only use Vax carpet solution. Using other solutions may cause
excess foaming and will invalidate your warranty. The clean water tank should only be lled with warm water (max 40’C).
Never use boiling water as you may damage your machine and invalidate the warranty. This is a powerful carpet washer,
before plugging in make sure all controls are turned o also hold carpet washer rmly when starting and during use.
Assembling your vacuum cleaner
Stand the base of carpet washer on
the oor in the upright position.
Turn handle lock dial clockwise
to lock in position until it clicks
into position.
Tilt clean water/solution tank and
line up onto carpet washer.
Push tank back until it clicks
into place.

CAUTION: Always unplug the carpet washer before performing any maintenance/troubleshooting checks. NOTE: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing. For heavily soiled areas, it may be necessary
to repeat the cleaning process. Make crisscrossing strokes to the original pattern and overlap each pass.
IMPORTANT: Your dirty water tank is tted with a oat. When the dirty water tank is full, or the oor head is not in contact
with the carpet the oat will shut o the suction on the carpet washer. You will be able to hear if this has happened as the
motor noise on the machine will increase. Once the oat is activated, empty the dirty water tank if full. If the dirty water tank
is not full then turn o your machine at the power switch and wait for the oat to settle.

Turn wash/rinse dial to
‘wash’. The SpinScrub
brushes and brushbar
deep clean your carpets
with water and solution
removing dirt and stains.
For best results apply
water/solution on the
forward stroke and
release the trigger to pick
up water/solution on the
backward stroke.
Plug into mains,
press the On/O button
to switch on.
Turn wash/rinse dial
to ‘rinse’. Only water
is released to remove
solution residue.
Twist solution tank
cap anti-clockwise
and remove.
TIP TIP
This machine has an auto mix
tank so any solution not used
can be poured back into the
bottle.
For best cleaning results use
slow straight parallel strokes.
Intermittent dry forward strokes
will increase water pick up.
The ‘rinse’ mode will also
work when using the hose.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to wood oors and other hard oors, follow the ooring manufacturer’s
cleaning recommendations. Inspect oor surface for worn nish, bare wood or separated joints.
If it’s not recommended to use the carpet washer on oors if any of these conditions exist.
IMPORTANT: Before attaching the hard oor squeegee onto carpet washer, remove tanks or make sure tanks are empty
before lying the carpet washer on its back.
CAUTION: Always unplug the carpet washer before performing any maintenance/troubleshooting checks.
Lie carpet washer on its back, line
up squeegee with nozzle.
Press dirty water tank
release latch, pull to
remove dirty water tank.
Remove both tanks and tilt
carpet washer back.
To re-t, tilt dirty water tank and line
up onto carpet washer. Push back
until it clicks into place.
Hook front of squeegee onto edge
of nozzle.
Push down dirty water
tank clip to release lid.
Lift to remove dirty water
tank lid.
Lift nozzle release clip
and pull nozzle forward,
separating tabs on nozzle
and carpet washer.
Push squeegee under nozzle until it
clicks into place.
Empty dirty water over
the sink. Rinse dirty water
tank and lid under water
to remove dirt/debris.
Rinse nozzle under water
to remove dirt/debris.
Replace nozzle by lining
up tabs on nozzle with
tabs underneath front
of carpet washer. Push
nozzle down until it clicks
into place.
Clean the lter screen
located at the back of the
dirty water tank.

and dirty water tanks and
leave to air dry before
replacing. Do not leave
solution stored in the tanks
between uses.

Using a pair of scissors
remove any threads or
hair caught around
the brushbar.
Using a crosshead
screwdriver remove the
bottom screws from each
of the rug guards (metal
pins) so the bottom of the
pin is released. Unclip the
top of each to release
Firmly pull sides
of SpinScrub cover
to remove.
Remove any threads or
hair caught around the
brushes, rinse under
water to remove debris.

Changing the brushbar (continued)
Undo the four screws on the side brushes.
Pull and slide right side brushes together with brushbar.
Remove side cap from brushbar and unloop brushbar
from belt.
Line up the ‘right’ side brushes with base and slide
into place. Attach brushbar to side brushes.
Ret belt guard and tighten x2 screws. Ret and tighten screws x2
on either side of side brushes. Ret SpinScrub brushes. Ret rug
guard pins and tighten screws.
Attach the other side of brushbar to side
brushes. Slide onto side of base and into place.
Loop replacement brushbar through belt and onto
belt grip.
Pull and slide left side brushes and remove side cap
from brushbar.

• Check the ‘This pack contains’ panel on the box to make sure the part
is denitely included in your unit.
• The plug may not be fully pushed into the electrical socket.
• Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace with
a 10amp fuse.
• The oat in the dirty water tank may have been activated. Empty the dirty
water tank wait for the oat to settle before re-starting your carpet washer.
• The accessory hose connector cover has not been correctly closed.

• Check the SpinScrub brushes and brushbar for blockages and clear.
• The dirty water tank may not be tted correctly. Re-t making sure
the lid is pushed down securely. Go to ‘Taking care of your machine’.
• Check the nozzle for blockages and clear. Go to ‘Taking care
of your machine’.
• Check the nozzle is correctly tted. Go to ‘Taking care of your machine’.
• Make sure the clean water tank is tted securely. Go to ‘Using your machine’.
• Wash/Rinse dial has been set to Rinse, set dial to wash to dispense solution.
• The clean water tank valve may be stuck, hold the clean water tank over the
sink and press the valve underneath to release.
• The brushes will only spin when the carpet washer is reclined.
• Check the SpinScrub brushes and brushbar for blockages and clear.
• Check for damage to the brushbar and the spindle on the back of the
SpinScrub brush cover.
