1.1 Introduction
The VDH Alfanet Server Program (VASP) is used for an easy and reproducible controlled way of fruit
ripening in multiple cells.
The number of users that can use the system simultaneously depends on the license. Consult your
supplier for detailed information.
It is possible to connect to a plant with several cells.
Fig. 1 VASP system
The PROBA Ripening System consists of the following main components:
• A PROBA 5 Controller with ethernet connection.
• An ethernet network.
• A Central Computer with VASP (Vdh Alfa Server Program) operation and control software.
• Optional a local Control-unit with limited settings on the local RS485-network.
Each ripening room is fully controlled by its own PROBA 5 Controller. Each Controller treats a ripening
program independently and can be fully controlled on the Central Computer or with limited possibilities via
a Control-unit on the local RS485-network.

4 ConneCtions
4.1 General remarks
• The EMC performance of the system are only guaranteed if the cables have an effective screen.
• The use of shielded cables is required for:
- Sensors
- RS485
- Ethernet network
• Use for Ethernet LAN cable only FTP shielded cables.
• Make sure all cables are connected correctly.
• The PROBA 5 is considered to be a component which will be installed into a final equipment.
Validation of the final equipment is necessary to confirm it still meets EMC directives.

4.8 Adjusting the network number for a control
panel
If a control panel is used, it is very important that this panel has the right network number.
Normally this number will be already set in the factory. In case the installer has to do this by himself, it is
very important to enter the right number.
4.9 Simple control panel
If no number has been set, the display will show =---.
Setting the network number
1. Push the πand ∏key to select the right number.
2. Push the “SET” key.
The number is stored now and the display will show the average room temperature.
For further operation using the control panels, see the Proba 5 user guide.
Enter the right network number!
If a wrong number has been entered, the control panel should be
returned to the factory!
