6 . Driver installation
I MPORTAN T N OTES:
•I nstall t he drivers and softw are prior to m aking any hardw are connections!
•Make sure you have adm inistrator rights on your com put er system w hen inst alling drivers
and softw are.
•Disable all antivirus soft w are during softw are installation.
•Refer to § 5 for the m inim um syst em requirem ents.
•I nsert t he VELLEMAN© CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. A window will appear:
•Click [ I nstall Driver] .
•Click [ Next > ] .

•Click [ Finish] to finalize driver installation.
•The system will now ask to restart the com puter. Select [ Yes, I w ant t o restart m y com puter now ] .
•Connect the PCUSBVC3 to your video source (not incl., e.g. TV, cam era, DVD...). Note that you m ust
connect the device to an S-video or Com posite/ audio output! Refer to the user m anual of your video
source to locate signal output connectors.
[ 1 ] not included.
•Connect the USB-connector of the PCUSBVC3 to a free USB port on your com puter. Note: for signal
integrity, it is not recom m ended to connect through a HUB.
•The system detects the new hardware on the USB port and a m essage box pops up. Select [ No, not t his
tim e] and click [ Next > ] .
•Select [ I nstall soft w are autom atically] and click [ Next > ] . Follow the instructions on the screen.
•A window might pop up stating that the SMI GRABBER Device did not pass Windows logo testing; select
[ continue anyw ay] .
•Click [ Finish] to com plete driver installation.
•I f any other com ponents are found, please repeat t he above procedure until t he [ Found new hardw are:
Your hardw are is installed and configured for use] -window appears.
•Verify whether the drivers are installed correctly. Right click on [ My com puter] and click left to select
[ Propert ies] .
•Go to t he [ Hardw are] tab and select [ Device m anager] .
•Go to t he [ Sound, video and gam e controllers] .
•Locate the [ SMI GRABBER Device] . I f no exclam at ion m arks ( yellow t riangles) ar e show n in fr ont of the
device nam es, the installation was successful. Otherwise, rem ove the driver, disconnect and reconnect the
PCUSBVC3 to re-install t he driver.

•I f you want to see the version of the driver, right click on it and select [ properties] . Select the [ Driver]
tab.
7 . Softw are installation and configuration
I MPORTAN T N OTES:

•Make sure you have adm inistrator rights on your com puter syst em w hen installing drivers and
soft w are.
•Disable all antivirus soft w are during softw are installation.
•Refer to § 5 for the m inim um syst em requirem ents.
•I nsert t he VELLEMAN© CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. A window will appear:
•Click [ I nst all Show Biz 3 .5 ] and follow the instructions on the screen. Select your preferred installation
language. The licence key is printed on the CD-ROM sleeve. Make sure to keep the keys for future
reference.
•When installation is finished, start the software by double-clicking on the “Showbiz 3.5” icon on your
desktop. The following screen is shown:

•Make sure the PCUSBVC3 device is properly connected and select [ Capture, create, or edit videos] .
•Set [ Source] to SMI Grabber Device.
•Set [ Audio device] to USB Pin Source.
•Set [ Video input] to Com posite or S- Video depending on the used connection.
•Click on [ Device setting] to set the applicable video standard (NTSC_M, PAL-B).
•Explanat ion on how to use your software can be found on the included CD-ROM (under direct ory
\ Docum ent\ Manual).
8 . Troubleshooting
Hardw are connect ion issues.
•The PCUSBVC3 com es with and fem ale S-video and 3 fem ale RCA connectors. Most video sources will also
have fem ale connectors. Male-male RCA cables or a male-male S- Video cable is not included and must be
purchased separately. Note however that these cables often are included when buying a new video source
(e.g. TV, Video...).
•I n case your video source only com es with a SCART output, you must purchase an adaptor with a SCART
connector on one end and three RCA connectors on the other.

Device did not pass W indow s logo testing
•This message can safely be ignored as it will not cause problem s with other software. Basically it means
that Microsoft did not test the software itself.
Duration of recording
•The PCUSBVC3 is a real-tim e capture device. This means that e.g. it will take 3 hours to capture or
transfer a 3-hour recording.
Size of recording
•Recording size depends on the chosen form at and im age size. To decrease overall file size, select a different
form at or reduce the im age size. Note that t his w ill also decr ease im age qualit y.
•E.g. in AVI form at (no com pression) 10 minutes of recording uses about 1GB. I n MPEG form at t his is about
200MB; in WMV about 30MB.
Transferring audio only to PC
•This is not possible with the PCUSBVC3 .

•Haga clic en [ Finish] para com pletar la instalación.
•Reinicie el ordenador al seleccionar [ Yes, I w ant to rest art m y com puter now ] .
•Conecte el PCUSBVC3 a la fuente de vídeo (p.ej. televisor, videocám ara reproductor DVD...). ¡Conecte
siem pre el convertidor a la salida S-vídeo o com puesto/ audio! Véase el m anual del usuario del aparato de
audio en cuestión en caso de duda.

•I nt roduzca el conect or USB de la PCUSBVC3 en un puerto USB libre del ordenador. Sin em bargo, no
conecte el convertidor a un hub para evit ar una pérdida de señal.

Seleccione [ No, not t his tim e] y haga clic en [ Next > ] .
•Seleccione [ I nst all softw are autom atically] y haga clic en [ Next > ] . Siga las instrucciones en la

•Haga clic en [ cont inue anyw ay] si aparece una pant alla con el m ensaje SMI GRABBER Device no ha
pasado el test Windows Logo.
•Haga clic en [ Finish] para com pletar la instalación del driver.
•Repita este procedim iento para instalar otro hardware hasta que aparezca el mensaj e [ Found new
hardw are: Your hardw are is inst alled and configured for use] .
•Controle la instalación de los drivers al hacer clic en [ My com puter] con el botón derecho del ratón y al
seleccionar luego [ Properties] .
•Abra la pestaña [ Hardw are] y seleccione [ Device m anager] .
•Haga clic en [ Sound, video and gam e cont rollers] .
•Los drivers [ SMI GRABBER Device] han sido instalados de m anera correcta si no se visualiza un triángulo

•Asegúrese de que la PCUSBVC3 est é conectado correctam ent e y seleccione [ Capt ure, create, or edit
videos] .
•Ponga [ Source] en SMI Grabber Device.
•Ponga [ Audio device] en USB Pin Source.
•Ponga [ Video input] en Com posit e o S-Vídeo. Esto depende de la conexión utilizada.
•Haga clic en [ Device setting] para seleccionar el estándar de vídeo (NTSC_M, PAL-B).
•Para m ás inform aciones sobre el uso del software, haga clic en el fichero bajo el directorio
\ Docum ent\ Manual del CD-ROM.

Ge ne ral W arrant y Condit ions Conce rn ing Con sum e r Product s
( for EU) :
• All consumer products are subj ect t o a 24-m onth warrant y on
production flaws and defective m at erial as from the original date of
purchase.
• Vellem an® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent
article, or to refund t he retail value totally or partially when the
com plaint is valid and a free repair or replacem ent of the article is
im possible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.
You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of
100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first
year aft er t he date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at
50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the
retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the
dat e of purchase and delivery.
• N ot covered by w arra nty:
- all direct or indirect dam age caused after delivery to the article
(e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidit y...) , and by the
article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss
of profits;
- consum able goods, par ts or accessories t hat ar e subj ect t o an aging
process during normal use, such as bat teries (rechargeable, non-
rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lam ps, rubber parts, drive
belts... ( unlim ited list ) ;
- flaws resulting from fire, water dam age, lightning, accident, nat ural
disaster, etc.…;
- flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from im proper
handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary t o t he
manufact urer’s instructions;
- dam age caused by a com mercial, professional or collective use of
the article (the warranty validit y will be reduced to six ( 6) m onths
when the article is used professionally) ;
- dam age resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the
article;
- all dam age caused by m odification, repair or alterat ion perform ed
by a third party without written perm ission by Vellem an® .
• Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Vellem an® dealer,
solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging) , and be
com pleted wit h the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw
description.
• Hin t: I n or der t o save on cost and t im e, please r er ead the m anual
and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting
the article for repair. Note that ret urning a non- defective article can
also involve handling costs.
• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping
costs.

warranties.

Algem ene w aa rborgvoorw a a rde n consum entengoederen
( voor Europese Unie) :
• Op alle consum ent engoederen geldt een garantieperiode van 24
maanden op productie- en m at eriaalfouten en dit vanaf de
oorspronkelijke aankoopdatum .
• I ndien de klacht gegrond is en een gratis reparatie of vervanging
van een artikel onm ogelijk is of indien de kosten hiervoor buiten
ver houding zij n, kan Vellem an® beslissen het desbet reffende art ikel
te vervangen door een gelijkwaardig artikel of de aankoopsom van
het art ikel gedeelt elij k of volledig t erug t e bet alen. I n dat gev al k rij gt
u een vervangend product of terugbet aling ter waarde van 100% van
de aankoopsom bij ont dekking van een gebrek tot één jaar na
aankoop en levering, of een vervangend product tegen 50% van de
kostprij s of terugbet aling van 50 % bij ont dekking na één j aar tot 2
jaar.
• Valt niet onder w aarborg:
- alle rechtstreekse of onrechtstreekse schade na de levering
veroorzaakt aan het toest el (bv. door oxidatie, schokken, val, st of,
vuil, vocht ...) , en door het toestel, alsook zij n inhoud (bv. verlies van
dat a) , vergoeding voor eventuele winstderving.
- verbruiksgoederen, onderdelen of hulpst ukken die onderhevig zij n
aan ver oudering door norm aal gebruik zoals bv . bat terij en ( zow el
oplaadbare als niet- oplaadbare, ingebouwd of vervangbaar) , lam pen,
rubberen onderdelen, aandrij friemen... (onbeperkte lijst ).
- defecten t en gevolge van brand, wat erschade, bliksem , ongevallen,
natuurram pen, enz.
- defect en veroorzaakt door opzet, nalatigheid of door een
onoor deelk undige behandeling, slecht onderhou d of abnor m aal
gebruik of gebruik van het t oestel strijdig met de voorschriften van
de fabrikant.
- schade ten gevolge van een com m ercieel, professioneel of collect ief
gebruik van het apparaat ( bij professioneel gebruik wordt de
garantieperiode herleid tot 6 maand).
- schade veroorzaakt door onvoldoende bescherm ing bij transport
van het apparaat.
- alle schade door wij zigingen, reparaties of m odificaties uitgevoerd
door derden zonder toest em ming van Vellem an® .
• Toestellen dienen ter reparatie aangeboden te worden bij uw
Vellem an® -verdeler. Het toest el dient vergezeld te zij n van het
oorspronkelijke aankoopbewij s. Zorg voor een degelij ke verpakking
(bij voorkeur de originele verpakking) en voeg een duidelijke
foutom schrij ving bij.
• Tip: alvorens het toestel voor reparat ie aan te bieden, kijk nog
eens na of er geen voor de hand liggende reden is waarom het
toestel niet naar behoren werkt (zie handleiding) . Op deze wij ze kunt
u kosten en tij d besparen. Denk eraan dat er ook voor niet-defecte
toestellen een kost voor controle aangerekend kan worden.
• Bij reparaties buiten de waarborgperiode zullen transportkost en
aangerekend worden.
• Elke com m erciële garantie laat deze rechten onverm inderd.
Bovenstaande opsom m ing kan eventueel aangepa st w orden
naargelang de aard van het product ( zie handleiding van het
betreffende product ) .

d’un défaut dans un délai de 1 an après l’achat et la livraison, ou un
article de rem placem ent m oyennant 50% du prix d’achat ou le
rem boursem ent de 50% du prix d’achat lors d’un défaut après 1 à 2
ans.
• sont par conséquent exclus :
- t out dom m age dir ect ou indirect sur venu à l’art icle apr ès liv raison
(p.ex. dom mage lié à l’oxydation, choc, chute, poussière, sable,
im puret é…) et provoqué par l’appareil, ainsi que son contenu (p.ex.
perte de données) et une indem nisation éventuelle pour perte de
revenus ;
- toute pièce ou accessoire nécessitant un rem placem ent causé par
un usage norm al com me p.ex. piles ( rechargeables comm e non
rechargeables, intégrées ou rem plaçables) , am poules, pièces en
caoutchouc, courroies… ( list e illim it ée) ;
- t out dom mage qui résulte d’un incendie, de la foudre, d’un
accident, d’une catastrophe nat urelle, etc. ;
- out domm age provoqué par une négligence, volontaire ou non, une
utilisation ou un entretien incorrect , ou une utilisation de l’appareil
cont raire aux prescriptions du fabricant ;
- t out dom m age à cause d’u ne u tilisat ion com m er ciale,
professionnelle ou collective de l’appareil ( la période de garantie sera
réduite à 6 m ois lors d’une utilisation professionnelle) ;
- tout dom m age à l’appareil qui résulte d’une ut ilisation incorrecte ou
différente que celle pour laquelle il a été initialem ent prévu comm e
décrit dans la notice ;
- t out dom m age engendré par un ret our de l’appareil em ballé dans
un conditionnem ent non ou insuffisam ment prot égé.
- toute réparation ou modification effectuée par une tierce personne
sans l’aut orisation explicite de SA Vellem an® ; - frais de transport de
et vers Vellem an® si l’appareil n’est plus couvert sous la garantie.
• t out e réparation sera fournie par l’endroit de l’achat. L’appareil doit
nécessairement être accom pagné du bon d’achat d’origine et être
dûm ent conditionné (de préférence dans l’em ballage d’origine avec
mention du défaut) ;
• t uyau : il est conseillé de consulter la notice et de cont rôler câbles,
piles, et c. avant de retourner l’appareil. Un appareil retourné jugé
défectueux qui s’avère en bon état de m arche pourra faire l’objet
d’une note de frais à charge du consom mat eur ;
• une réparation effectuée en-dehors de la période de garantie fera
l’objet de frais de transport ;
• t out e garantie com m erciale ne port e pas at t einte aux conditions
susmentionnées.

rigurosas y disposiciones legales vigentes en la UE. Para garantizar la
calidad, som et em os nuest ros pr oduct os regularm en te a cont roles de
calidad adicionales, tanto a t ravés de nuestro propio servicio de
calidad com o de un servicio de calidad externo. En el caso
im probable de que surgieran problem as a pesar de t odas las
precauciones, es posible recurrir a nuestra garantía ( véase las
condiciones de garantía).
Condiciones generales referentes a la garant ía sobre
productos de venta al público ( pa ra la Unión Europea) :
• Todos los productos de venta al público tienen un período de
garantía de 24 m eses cont ra errores de producción o errores en
materiales desde la adquisición original;
• Si la queja está fundada y si la reparación o sustitución de un
artículo no es posible, o si los gast os son desproporcionados,
Vellem an® autoriza reem plazar el artículo por un artículo equivalente
o reem bolsar la tot alidad o una part e del precio de com pra. En este
caso, ust ed recibirá un artículo de recam bio o el reem bolso com pleto
del precio de com pra si encuentra algún fallo hasta un año después
de la com pra y ent rega, o un artículo de recam bio al 50% del precio
de com pra o el reem bolso del 5 0% del precio de com pr a si en cuent ra
un fallo después de 1 año y hast a los 2 años después de la com pra y
entrega.
Por consiguiente, están excluidos ent re otras cosas:
- todos los daños causados directa o indirect am ente al aparato (p.ej.
por oxidación, choques, caída,...) y a su contenido (p.ej. pérdida de
dat os) después de la ent rega y causados por el aparato, y cualquier
indem nización por posible pérdida de ganancias;
- partes o accesorios, que estén expuestos al desgaste causado por
un uso nor m al, com o por ej em plo bat erías ( t ant o r ecargables com o
no recargables, incorporadas o reem plazables), bom billas, partes de
gom a, et c. (list a ilimitada);
- defectos causados por un incendio, daños causados por el agua,
rayos, accidentes, cat ástrofes naturales, etc.;
- defectos causados a conciencia, descuido o por m alos tratos, un
mantenim iento inapropiado o un uso anorm al del aparat o cont rario a
las instrucciones del fabricant e;
- daños causados por un uso comercial, profesional o colectivo del
aparat o ( el período de garantía se reducirá a 6 m eses con uso
profesional);
- daños causados por un uso incorrecto o un uso ajeno al que está
previsto el producto inicialmente com o está descrito en el m anual del
usuario;
- daños causados por una prot ección insuficient e al transportar el
aparat o.
- daños causados por reparaciones o modificaciones efectuadas por
una tercera persona sin la autorización explícit a de Vellem an® ;
- se calcula gastos de transporte de y a Vellem an® si el aparato ya
no est á cubierto por la garantía.
• Cualquier artículo que tenga que ser reparado tendrá que ser
devuelto a su dist ribuidor Vellem an® . Devuelva el aparato con la
factura de com pra original y transpórt elo en un em balaje sólido
(preferentem ente el em balaje original). I ncluya tam bién una buena
descripción del fallo;
• Consej o: Lea el m anual del usuario y controle los cables, las pilas,
etc. antes de devolver el aparat o. Si no se encuentra un defect o en el
artículo los gastos podrían correr a cargo del cliente;
• Los gastos de transporte correrán a carga del cliente para una
reparación efectuada fuera del período de garantía.
• Cualquier gest o com ercial no dism inuye estos derechos.

Garantieperiode von 24 Monaten ab Verkaufsdatum .
• Wenn die Klage berechtigt ist und falls eine kost enlose Reparatur
oder ein Austausch des Gerätes unm öglich ist , oder wenn die Kosten
daf ür unver hält nism äßig sind, k ann Vellem an® sich dar über
entscheiden, dieses Produkt durch ein gleiches Produkt zu ersetzen
oder die Kaufsum m e ganz oder teilweise zurückzuzahlen. I n diesem
Fall erhalt en Sie ein Ersatzprodukt oder eine Rückzahlung im Werte
von 100% der Kaufsum m e im Falle eines Defekt es bis zu 1 Jahr nach
Kauf oder Lieferung, oder Sie bekom men ein Ersatzprodukt im Werte
von 50% der Kaufsum me oder eine Rückzahlung im Werte von 50 %
im Falle eines Defektes im zweiten Jahr.
• Von de r Garantie ausgeschlossen sind:
- alle direkten oder indirekten Schäden, die nach Lieferung am Gerät
und durch das Gerät verursacht werden ( z.B. Oxidation, Stöße, Fall,
Staub, Schm utz, Feuchtigkeit, ...), sowie auch der I nhalt (z.B.
Datenverlust), Entschädigung für eventuellen Gewinnausfall.
- Verbrauchsgüt er, Teile oder Zubehörteile, die durch norm alen
Gebrauch dem Verschleiß ausgesetzt sind, wie z.B. Batterien (nicht
nur aufladbare, sondern auch nicht aufladbare, eingebaute oder
ersetzbare) , Lampen, Gum m iteile, Treibriem en, usw. ( unbeschränkt e
Liste).
- Schäden verursacht durch Brandschaden, Wasserschaden, Blit z,
Unfälle, Naturkatastrophen, usw.
- Schäden verursacht durch absicht liche, nachlässige oder
unsachgem äße Anwendung, schlecht e Wartung, zweckent frem dete
Anwendung oder Nicht beachtung von Benut zerhinweisen in der
Bedienungsanleitung.
- Schäden infolge einer kom merziellen, professionellen oder
kollektiven Anwendung des Gerätes ( bei gewerblicher Anwendung
wird die Garantieperiode auf 6 Monate zurückgeführt) .
- Schäden verursacht durch eine unsachgem äße Verpackung und
unsachgem äßen Transport des Gerät es.
- alle Schäden verursacht durch unautorisiert e Änderungen,
Reparat uren oder Modifikationen, die von einem Drit ten ohne
Erlaubnis v on Vellem an® vor genom m en w erden.
• I m Fall einer Repar at ur , wen den Sie sich an I hren Vellem an® -
Verteiler. Legen Sie das Produkt ordnungsgem äß verpackt
(vorzugsweise die Originalverpackung) und mit dem Original-
Kaufbeleg vor. Fügen Sie eine deut liche Fehlerbeschreibung hinzu.
• Hinweis: Um Kosten und Zeit zu sparen, lesen Sie die
Bedienungsanleitung nochm als und überprüfen Sie, ob es keinen auf
de Hand liegenden Grund gibt, ehe Sie das Gerät zur Reparatur
zurückschicken. St ellt sich bei der Überprüfung des Gerätes heraus,
dass kein Geräteschaden vorliegt , könnte dem Kunden eine
Untersuchungspauschale berechnet.
• Für Reparaturen nach Ablauf der Garantiefrist werden
Transport kosten berechnet .
• Jede komm erzielle Garantie lässt diese Rechte unberührt .
Die oben st ehende Aufzählung kann eventuell angepasst
