40 feet (12.2 meters).
When the illuminator is mounted on a motorized
pan and tilt drive or scanner, it is
frequently desired to mount it alongside the
camera or camera/housing combination to be
used. The illuminator mounting slot mates
with Model
V18A
Mounting Bracket, which is
equipped with twelve 0.271 in. diameter
mounting holes to accommodate the illuminator
and any camera/housing combination. Mount as
follows.

Choose the wiring combination needed to suit
the intended operation of the unit. In all
cases, the unit is wired to a nearby power
source.

Mount the
V18A
to the pan and tilt
mounting plate (with the lip positioned
downward) using the four mounting holes
called out in Figure 1. Mount with four
l/4-20 bolts, lockwashers, and nuts. For
scanner mounting, use two of the three
grouped holes on either side of the
bracket.
Mount the illuminator to either side of
the
V18A,
matching either of the three
grouped holes to the illuminator mounting
slot. (See Figure 2.) Use one l/4-20 bolt
and lockwasher. Position the illuminator
horizontally to the desired position and
tighten the mounting hardware securely.
NOTE--Position the open side of the
mounting slot facing the front of the pan
and tilt unit.
The camera or housing may be mounted to
the other side of the
V18A
in the same
manner, using l/4-20 bolts, lockwashers
and nuts (one for the camera alone, or two
for camera/housing combination),
ADJUSTMENTS
Align the beam of the illuminator with the
camera’s line of sight as follows, First,
loosen the two hex-head bolts on either side
of the illuminator mounting bracket. Then,
tilt the illuminator up or down until the
brightest area of illumination is at the
center of the scene. To align the horizontal
axis, loosen the central screw. Use this
screw as a pivot, and swing the illuminator
horizontally until the brightest area of
illumination is at the center of the scene.
WARN/NC--To prevent eye damage resulting
from exposure to infrared light, do not look

.Loosen
the rear cover by swinging it out
and down from the enclosure.
Remove the small cover from the terminal
board by loosening the two mounting
:screws;
exposing the wiring connections.
Remove one side of the split plate at the
‘bottom of the unit. (See Figure 2.) Slip
a power supply cord terminated with

lugs through the grommet upward and
into the rear of the transformer
(compartment.
Slip the optional remote control cable
wire through the second grommet.
Refer to Figures 3 and 4. Wire the unit
as indicated, connecting all wires to
appropriate terminals of the block. Be
sure all terminal screws are tight.
Replace the terminal block cover and the
rear cover of the unit.
Replace the split plate, seating it in the
groove of the grommets.
For remote manual control, a switch of the
appropriate rating may be used to turn the
unit on from any remote location. Wire the
switch as indicated on the schematic diagrams,
Figures 3 and 4.
PHOTOCELL INSTALLATION
The photocell unit should be installed so that
accidental operation (and subsequent
energization or de-energization of the
illuminator) is avoided. The photocell must
be installed so that it is able to sense only
