Important Safeguards – Indoor Use
GRAPHIC SYMBOL EXPLANATION
The lightening bolt symbol alerts the user to the presence of
dangerous voltage that may present the risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point symbol alerts the user to the presence of
important operating and maintenance instructions.
WARNING
To reduce a risk of fire or electric shock, do not
expose this product to rain or moisture.
1. Read Instructions - Read all safety and operating instructions
before the product is operated.
2. Retain Instructions - Retain all safety and operating
instructions for future reference.
3. Heed Warnings - Pay attention to all product warnings.
4. Follow Instructions - Follow all operating instructions.
5. Cleaning -(Do not use caustic, abrasive or aerosol
cleaners)
a) For units that CAN BE DISCONNECTED from the power
source, use a damp cloth for cleaning.
b) For units that CANNOT BE DISCONNECTED from the
power source, use a damp cloth for cleaning and do not
allow moisture or liquids to enter vents.
6. Attachments - Use only UL Listed Vicon recommended
attachments to prevent unit damage and personal injury.
7. Water and Moisture - Use only products designed for outdoor
environments where they will be exposed to water or moisture.
8. Accessories - Do not place the unit on an unstable surface to
avoid falling. Use only UL Listed Vicon recommended mounting
accessories.
9. Ventilation - Do not block ventilating slots and openings as
they ensure reliable operation. Do not place the unit near a heat
source or into an enclosure unless recommended by Vicon.
10. Grounding - Only products equipped with a 3-prong
grounded plug should be inserted into a grounded power outlet.
Contact an electrician to replace an obsolete outlet. Do not force
a plug into a non-grounded outlet.
11. Power Cord Protection - Power supply cords should not be
routed in trafficked areas or in tight spaces where they will be
pinched or used to bear weight. Allow some slack in the cord
where it enters the unit.
12. Lightning - Disconnect the product from its power source and
cable system when possible to prevent damage due to lightning
and power-line surges.
13. Power Lines - Do not locate outside cables over power or
utility lines where they can fall and make direct contact. Contact
with power lines can be fatal.
14. Overloading - Do not overload wall outlets and extension
cords to prevent risk of fire and electric shock.
15. Object and Liquid Entry - Never probe through, or spill liquid
into, enclosure openings to prevent risk of fire or electric shock.
16. Servicing - Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
17. Damage Requiring Service - Obtain service when:
a) The power-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b) Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the
product.
c) The product is not designed for outdoor use and has been
exposed to water or moisture.
d) The product does not operate per the operating instructions.
Perform Vicon recommended adjustments, modifications
and troubleshooting only to avoid unit damage and personal
injury.
e) The product has been dropped.
f) The product shows a significant change in performance.
18. Replacement Parts - Use only Vicon specified replacement
parts or an approved equivalent to prevent unit damage and
injury.
19. Safety Check - Request safety checks to be performed
following repair or maintenance to verify proper operation.
20. ESD Precaution - Take all normal electrostatic discharge
precautions to avoid component damage during installation and
operation.
21. For 230 VAC Devices Only - When the disconnect device is
not incorporated in the equipment or when the plug on the power
supply is intended to serve as the disconnect device, follow the
guidelines below:
a) For permanently connected 230 VAC units, a readily
accessible disconnect device must be incorporated into the
site wiring.
b) For 230 VAC units with a plug, the outlet must be installed
near the unit and be easily accessible.

Introduction
This manual provides installation and operation instructions for the Vicon
models VM-717LCD (Product Code 8776-50) and VM-719LCD (Product
Code 8776-60) monitors. The monitors have a resolution of 1280x1024 @ 60
Hz and accept NTSC or PAL television systems.
The monitors are easily operated from front panel buttons. Controls include a
power switch and indicator; SOURCE (video input) selection; AUTO
geometry adjustment: cursor and adjustment up and down, Volume controls,
infrared sensor for the remote control and a MENU button for the on screen
display. Connectors for power, video, audio and external equipment are
located on the bottom of the monitor.
The following paragraphs describe the monitors, installation and operation.

The connectors are located on the bottom of the monitor. They are described
in the following table.

1 12 VDC power input.
2 D-Sub connector VGA input.
3 Video 1 Input: composite video input.
4 Video 1 Output: looping output for Video 1.
5 Video 2 Input: composite video input.
6 Video 2 Output: looping output for Video 2.
7, 8 Audio inputs: stereo (L+R).
9 S-Video (Y/C) Input: Y/C separated signal input.
10 S-Video (Y/C) Output: Y/C separated signal output.

Mounting
The monitors are provided with an easel stand for table mounting, and may
be wall or rack mounted using optional accessory kits.
Wall Mounting
You can wall-mount the monitor using the 100 mm precut holes or a standard
VESA wall-mount kit.

The Rack mounting kit is provided with an installation guide. Refer to the
guide for mounting instructions.

Controls
Front Panel
Index Number Description
1 SOURCE: selects input source (VGA, Composite 1 or 2 or
S-Video).
2 MENU: activates or exits the Onscreen Display (OSD).
Also used to move to a previous menu or status.
3 AUTO: Automatically adjusts geometry of PC source. In
menu mode, moves cursor down.
4 Up cursor control. Moves cursor up in menu mode.
5 VOL: Lowers or raises volume. In menu mode, moves
cursor left or right.
6 IR sensor receives signals from optional remote control.
7 Power On/Off and power indicator.

Remote Control (Optional)
Control Description
POWER Turns power on or off to monitor.
SOURCE Selects PC, Composite (AV1 or AV2), or S-Video
inputs.
APC Auto Picture Control: selects picture mode.
ACC Auto Color Control: selects color mode.
AV1 Selects AV1 composite input.
AV2 Selects AV2 composite input.

Control Description
S-VIDEO Selects S-Video input.
PC Selects PC (VGA) input.
AUTO Automatically adjusts geometry of PC source.
MUTE Mutes volume.
MENU Activates the Onscreen Display.
EXIT Exits the Onscreen display.
VOL Lowers or raises volume. In menu mode, moves cursor
left or right.
UP/DOWN Moves cursor up or down in menu mode.
ENTER Accepts selection menu selection.
INFO Displays the active source input.
STILL Pause the display.

Onscreen Display Operation
To access the OSD, press the MENU button. There are three submenus:
Custom, Picture/Sound and Setup.
Custom Menu
The Custom menu allows you to set Brightness and Contrast for the PC
(VGA) input and Brightness, Contrast, Color, Tint, and Sharpness for the
composite and composite and S-Video inputs.
Composite and S-Video Input Mode
Use the cursor buttons to move right or left (VOL) and up and down. The
menu shown above will display for the composite and S-Video inputs.
When a selection is made the item will be highlighted as shown in the
following screen shot.

Press MENU to save your selection.
PC (VGA) Input Mode
The PC (VGA) provides Brightness and Contrast selection.

Picture/Sound Menu
The Picture/Sound menu allows you to set Picture Mode, Color Tone, Mute
and Volume. Additional settings are available for the PC (VGA) input.
Use the cursor buttons to select the item that you would like to change. Press
Enter to select the item or use the right cursor button.

Picture Mode
Select the desired Picture mode using the options shown in the right menu
pane. Dynamic will provide enhanced contrast and sharpness. Standard
provides standard contrast and sharpness. Movie is recommended for
viewing film-based content. Mild reduces contrast and sharpness. Press
SOURCE/Select to save your selection.

Color Tone
Select the desired Color Tone using the options shown in the right menu
pane. Cool gives the white colors a bluish tint. Normal gives the white colors
a neutral tint. Warm gives the white colors a reddish tint. Press MENU to
save your selection.

Select On or Off and press MENU to save your selection.
Volume
Use the right and left cursor buttons to set desired volume. Press MENU to
save your selection.
PC Menu
The PC menu option is only visible when the PC (VGA) input is present.
Press Enter or the right cursor button to access the PC options.

The PC options menu provides Auto Adjust, Phase, H-Position, V-Position
and Frequency adjustment.
Auto Adjust provides automatic adjustment of PC source.
Phase adjusts the number of horizontal picture elements.
H-Position moves the image horizontally to the right or left on the
screen.

V-Position moves the image vertically upward or downward on the
screen.
Frequency adjusts the vertical noise of the screen image.
Setup Menu
The Setup menu enables you to rest all settings to factory default, set the
menu language, choose the OSD tone, select a blue screen background and
enable key lock.
