1PREFACE
Introduction
CONGRATULATIONS! You have just purchased the Victory BX42S Woodchipper, the strongest,
safest, and compact PTO Manual Feed Woodchipper in its category.
1.1 Identification
Our upgraded BX42S cuts wood up to 5″ thickness in diameter and has improved air suction for
improved woodchips output.
The new BX42S Woodchipper is robust, reliable, and easy to handle. It cuts all kinds of wood. The
BX42S includes the PTO shaft with a shear bolt and connects to your CAT I, 3-Point Hitch. The
upper and lower pins are included, and additional bushings for Cat II mounting are available.
Performance:
◼You can operate the woodchipper between 540 to 1,000 rpm, this means between 36 to 66
chips per second utilizing four hardened steel cutting knives against one bed/counter knife.
◼We recommend operating your tractor between 25 - 35 HP for maximum performance and
flexibility and a PTO shaft speed of 540 rpm. The direct PTO drive system turns the well-
balanced 37 kg (82 lb) rotor with its four 8¼″ knives, made from hardened tooling steel.
◼The counter knife setting produces cutted material from ¾”to 1½”in size.
◼The rotor speed and the specially designed rotor winglets create the air suction, which throws
out the chipped material and makes wood jams virtually impossible.
◼The heavy half-inch thick rotor disc also has branch breakers processing skinny branches. The
rotor is driven by the PTO shaft (included in the shipment).
◼The discharge funnel is 62” in height, and you can turn it at 230° with an adjustable throwing
angle. The chipped material can be thrown up to 20’ in the distance, making it easy to fill
trailers or containers.
◼The woodchipping capacity is 200 to 250 cu.ft./hr. depending on the type of material to be
chipped.
◼Victory’s BX42S machine complies with all safety standards and is CE tested following the
2006/42/EC machine directives.

◼Lower the implement to the ground, put the tractor in parking mode, turn off the engine and
remove the ignition key before performing maintenance.
3.7 Safe Machine Transport
Driving on public roads, slow-moving tractors, self-propelled equipment, and towed implements
can create a hazard. They are challenging to see, especially at night.
◼Comply with state and local laws.
◼Use flashing warning lights and turn signals whenever driving on public roads. Use lights and
devices provided with the implement.
◼The maximum transport speed for any Victory implement is twenty mph on paved surfaces and
ten mph maximum on an unpaved surface. Do not exceed. Never travel at a speed that does
not allow adequate control of steering and stopping. Rough terrain requires a slower speed.
Traveling excessively on uneven terrain that causes violent shaking or bouncing will damage
the attachment point on the implement and/or the tractor. This type of damage is not covered
under warranty.
◼Use the following maximum speed - for paved surfaces only:
-20 mph when weight is less than or equal to the weight of the tractor.
-10 mph when weight is more than the weight of the tractor.
◼Do not drink and drive.
◼Be a safe and courteous driver. Always yield to oncoming traffic in all situations, including
narrow bridges, intersections, etc. Watch for traffic when operating near or crossing roadways.

3.8 Driveline Safety
Agriculture and forestry are very hazardous occupations. Today’s farmer spends long hours close
to increasingly complex and powerful machinery.
Everyone from the component supplier and the company that manufacturers and assembles the
machinery to the dealers and ultimately the actual user must keep safety in mind to avoid
accidents.
The checklist below relates to the driveline of agricultural implements, general safety literature,
and the standards published by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.
3.8.1 Driveline Safety Checklist
Driveline Specifications
The first step toward safe applications is to specify and test the PTO driveline to operate
appropriately under expected field conditions.
◼Specify and test the proper size joints and telescoping members based on the power required
by the implement, rotation speed, joint angles, shock loads, and expected lifetime.
◼Test the hitch geometry to prevent the driveline from:
•Extending beyond the recommended maximum length.
•Bottoming out.
•Reaching a position that allows universal joints to lock.
•Exceeding the maximum allowable angle for the constant velocity of the universal joints.
You can find information concerning these parameters in all driveline manufacturer’s catalogs.
◼Specify and test telescoping members to allow the lowest possible thrust loads, considering the
expected working conditions.
◼Specify and test torque limiters to control excessive shock loads.
◼Specify and test overrunning clutches to prevent inertial loads from overpowering the tractor.
3.9 Hazard Reduction
The second step in specifying a safe driveline application is to strive to eliminate as many hazards
as possible.
◼On a driveline with torque limiting or overrunning devices, specify that this device is positioned
at the end of the driveline near the implement.
◼To implement connections that require bolts or set screws, select and/or supply hardware that
minimizes protrusions. You can find Information concerning these parameters in all driveline
manufacturer’s catalogs.
◼For the tractor's PTO shaft connections, specify a safety type yoke (twist or slide collar) to
minimize protrusions.
◼Provide a proper clearance zone for the driveline operation to avoid damaging the shielding
components.

Operator’s Manual Victory BX42S - Page 17 of 51 - Version 2.0
Some common areas of interference are:
◼Three-point linkage.
◼Extended or eye loop hitch pins.
3.10 Guarding
To not effectively eliminated hazards, provide guarding whenever feasible.
The PTO master, critical driveline, and input connection shield should offer an interactive guarding
system.
◼Provide instructions by labels or manuals. Use the implement only with the tractor’s PTO
master shield.
◼Specify and test an integral driveline shield with end cones that overlap but do not interfere
with the PTO master shield or implement an input connection shield.
◼Provide an input connection shield to interact with the integral driveline shield to guard the
shaft coupling and any torque limiting devices installed on the driveline.
◼Check that all routine driveline maintenance can be done without removing the shields.
3.11 Warnings and Instructions
Provide warnings and instructions for hazards associated with the device. Provide instructions for
proper maintenance and repair.
◼Provide labels on the unit to advise the user of proper hitch dimensions and maximum safe
operating speed.
◼Check that proper danger labels are supplied with the driveline concerning these parameters
may be found in all driveline manufacturer’s catalogs.
◼The operator's manual provides instructions for proper driveline operation, maintenance, and
repair.
◼Advise against using PTO adapters, which may defeat the purpose of the tractor’s master shield
and adversely affect the driveline's performance.
◼Advise the user of locations of genuine original equipment spare parts.
3.12 ASME standards
You can obtain further information about driveline specifications and safety from your driveline
supplier and the following ASME standards and engineering practices:
◼S203 Rear power take-off for agricultural tractors.

Operator’s Manual Victory BX42S - Page 18 of 51 - Version 2.0
Other standards may apply to particular types of implements. All driveline manufacturers strive to
produce a safe product.
Like most other components, drivelines must be appropriately used, including proper tractor
master shields and implement input connection shields. Please contact us if you have any
questions about your driveline applications.
3.13 Not Allowed Use
It is not allowed to use the BX42S other than for woodchipper activities.
3.14 Safety Signs and Markings on the BX42S
Your woodchipper comes equipped with all safety signs in place. The decals are designed to help
you safely operate your implement. Read and follow their directions.
◼Pay close attention to the Safety Signs affixed to the tractor and the woodchipper.
◼Keep all safety decals clean and legible.
◼Replace all damaged or missing decals or labels. To order new ones, call Victory Tractor
